I just tried that a moment ago and its pretty good. I still build haas claws on her and the rest defensive because I prefer to play her that way and she just wont die. The lifesteal and tankiness is so OP lol.
SAME, im not used to building her like a fighter cuz I usually play her as a tank. I still think that cd reduction on ruby is v important so you can spam her skills a lot more easily.
half the reason she's so hard to kill is because of that insane lifesteal so idk why he didn't build one lifesteal item. he's a better player than me tho so i cant say anything
Upcoming buff for Haas Claws places that one item as the strongest spike for Ruby. 40% lifesteal when low! For Ruby it's 46%! Up to 66% with just Fighter Emblem, total ~85% with Oracle! EDIT: I forgot Ruby's innate 10% lifesteal. So that's a total of ~100% lifesteal with just two items.
If I had a nickel for every time Betosky played Ruby, I’d have 3 nickels. Which Isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened thrice. *_Also, I’m die happily yet once again_* Edit: also imo, ruby tank is alright, but the reason i dont like full tank is bcz ur sacrificing one of Ruby’s main sole purpose that is lifesteal. I’d atleast maybe build Haa’s claws and Waraxe then the rest as defense items. Or just only haa’s as enough, if u still dont feel the lifesteal, i suggest taking unbending will fighter talent since it increases ur dmg when ur hp is low (meaning more lifesteal), then ull feel being very tanky and have decent lifesteal :3
I still think building one lifesteal item (either haas of endless battle) is a must for ruby even for tank build. By not doing that you just waste her passive and lifestealing (healing) is actually one aspect of tanks
@@sarliejay4347 build the vampire mallet first no matter what, like the glowing orb before cursed helmet for example, ruby needs the lifesteal, you can complete haas claws when you finish every other item
The reason they won is actually because of faramis the best counter for gloo because we all know the tanks are the most important role and if you get a bad tank or a tank with a counter on the enemy side 80% you gonna loose
Betosky plays solo q and mythic 1 rn.. no gloo user wants to roam but sometimes you have to improvise when team doesn’t adjust. Still, the point is Farmis and Ruby are both hard gloo counters. They had no other frontliners so betowsky had the game in the bag from the start especially when the enemy has a 2mm set and dryroth side. It was just a slow start so betowsky made it into a video.
Had to adjust to tank sometimes so I picked ruby whenever im bored of tigreal (or enemy has lance, fanny, etc. I find ruby's skill 2 really handy against those difficult heroes to catch, compared to tig). I'm pleasantly surprised to see beto release a vid on tank ruby 😆😆 Edit: aaaaaaa those are some really nice plays (especially the comeback in early game)!!
I have a 4th skill idea for ruby .... Just like her second skill cast ruby swirls her scythe in a circle sending a wave in all directions (just like Kaja's first skill and Belerick's ultimate) in a range that is half of her first skill range... This skill should give ruby a shield making her tankier.. The more the enemies are hit by waves the more the amount of shield she gets.. In exchange they can increase the cooldown of ruby's first poking skill ... How is this idea?... Actually thinking of making and inventing new skill ideas related to her scythe is a big headache... Because she is the only hero I have seen in my life of playing games that is using a scythe... Ask yourself... Which kind of moves I can perform if I have to hold a scythe?.. Maybe hitting the ground with scythe like Terizla's first skill ... Or a better option is hitting the ground with the other extreme end of my scythe that is not containg blade thereby giving enemy's in the area an intense knock up (like minotaur hitting the ground with his hammer , but the problem is that scythe is not that much heavy and compact like a hammer which can shake the ground)... They should also think of giving her some skill relating to her hood ... By hood I mean the red coat / jacket which she is wearing... Once she gets 4 skills... Once can always remain fully stacked with ruby from mid to late game awaking her tank role....
Basically pushed ruby from epic to mythic by using her as tank. Extremely scary if you have a mage that can combo like lou yi. As a roamer i wouldnt buy boots until i reach lvl 2 from xp lane. Haws claws is my 2/3rd item so i can super annoying and can poke easily. Ruby is a hard counter for assassins like lance, karina, alucard, gusion, etc. Just remember to always poke the enemy. I commend beto for showing us this vid, enemy draft is quite hard for ruby, good thing he had good teammates.
Ruby has always been mythic, I’m pretty sure she’s in top 10 for fighters in mythic 400+. People underestimate ruby and I have no clue as to why, she’s legit one of the best side laners in the game.
@@samirumair4548 Beto literally played Ruby as hyper in one of his videos. I'm not Mythical, but I've used Ruby to hyper on several occasions and she's worked just fine each time.
@@samirumair4548 she is, i always use jungler ruby 300+ points with full damage build, her tankiness in passive dash is just good, she can par with other jungler like paquito
Haas claw is a must whether you build fighter or tank. The passive is just too good for Ruby. Yup haas claw, not replacable by endless battle or other lifesteal items.
The fact that the enemy team have gloo gives away that you should build haa's claw. Just a first skill on him while on Split, split will fully fill your HP.

Global ruby here. Extra thoughts and tips 1. Hero-wise, ruby is a peculiar hero in ML. She can't one shot and tank without items, she seems like a jack of all trades but a master of none. But in ML, there's no magic immune items, hence her AoE disables are always reliable. This makes her more of a set up hero than a kill hero, which explains her tournament appearances but quite rare in solo ranked. 2. Mechanical-wise, I don't think hitting her spells is hard, it's WHERE do you dash to after every spell that sets good and average ruby players apart. There's no rulebook for this because it requires you to understand every hero to predict their next movement, then position yourself with dash accordingly. 3. Psychology-wise, as Beto have mentioned, it's important to know how strong you are in relation to the enemies, then you can assert dominance and instill fear in them, then here comes to good part - you can force enemies to break formation and lose good positioning as you can see in the last moments of this game. Then the game is pretty much over.
I am a tank main, and I have 800 matches with her these past two season. She's squishy compared to other tanks so I still build her Haas Claw as 3rd item. Then Twilight Armor to compensate for her lack of tankiness especially in current inspire meta.
i have 500 matches as ruby right now i already give up as fighter ruby focused on tank she is squizy she has plus points is that she can protect the damage dealer from ass which is good and ultimate flicker combo is best
Tips for emblems:If u are using a tank and the enemies damage are focus on physical or magic only, make 2 separate emblem set for magic defense and physical defense .
I just bought Ruby because I have to learn how to play with a tank cause most of the time my teammates doesn't want to. Also seeing many good Ruby mains like Betosky inspired me to learn how to play Ruby! Thank you for the tutorial!^^
@@jiajieyap885 you don’t use queens wings since it’s not very good right now, it used to be really good but they nerfed it into the ground, luckily they are buffing the life steal up to 35% which is still 5% less than the original but I’ll definitely be using it over breastplate after the buff.
been playing tank, hylos that is,soooooo long.but always got team mates who wants the tank to stick with them like glue.come on laa, tank is suppose to roam all lane helping out.and usually as a tanker,i always go to lane with easiest kill.but as usual, hyper just wanna go for the hard kill.dont know why,ego maybe?
@@autowin3437 yup. As a tank you need to roam together with mage so you can accomplish something. Not stick to the jungler or marksmen all the time. And if they die you'll be blame.
Yve + ruby tank is one of the best combination especially in teamfights where u get 3/5 enemy then yve could ult perhaps he can also do fell against gloo exp lane
This was a really good gameplay, im not a ruby main but this was one of the best ruby gameplay I watch so far, I was so hyped through the whole video I got goosebumps, Betosky really does play like a true master.
Ruby is great because she can be played as any role. I still prefer her as a side lane but her as a tank is really good. She's also decent as a Jungler because I've also tried Ruby Jungler.
@@vibra7 I don't really play jungle heros , and I did try jungling with ruby but it always ends up with enemy epic comeback 😂 she seems to be good early to mid then becomes quite weak in late. Maybe it's just me
Ruby is one of those rly well designed heroes..... decent survivability due to lifesteal (if dps build) and great CC skills which makes her a rly great hero both as tank/support/roamer and as a side-laner dps also if i recall correctly (srry if im wrong cuz been long since i last played ruby) her Skill1 deals double dmg at close range and slows the enemies hit regardless of proximity.... Skill2 stuns and prevents enemies from escaping (great for capturing slippery heroes like fanny and ling) and her Ult has a great radius and ranger for a hook..... also (not too sure abt this one) u jump farther with her passive if u jump forwards compared to backwards she's a rly well designed hero and can shine if used correctly under the right circumstances and build also Day 40 of requesting Minsitthar Edit: also lets all wait wht the Ruby Master Isoya has to say lol
Her first skill actually hits twice, first one is a close range one which deals higher damage, while the 2nd one is the more obvious one which is a wave forward that slows :)
As someone who's main is ruby, whenever I play her as tank I still use haas claw or endlessbattle. Her lifesteal and passive is what makes her so sturdy, so always build a lifesteal item before the tank items.
@Average RU-vid Enjoyer Fighter build is much consistent compared to those two. Tank Ruby is situational while Assassin Ruby is only for people who knows the limits of the Hero...
I love her tank build, but don't think there's any reason to NOT build hass claws. It's sustain just makes tanky ruby much harder to kill, or stay out of base longer with a single skill on minions.
I will not recommend you to include haas claw for tank build. Less physical attack = less lifesteal. Either you build endless battle only (true dmg) or just go full def items
@@ispeakcockney5387 Endless battle has lesser Physical Attack and Lifesteal compared to Haas Claw. Aside from that, Haas Claw has a passive that increases your lifesteal on low health
@@ispeakcockney5387 u dont need endless battle. dmg? tank ruby is for sustain anyway so haas claws are much better and boosts her passive with orcale as well
I used to play Ruby offlane with concussive blast before the war axe nerf. It was so good that I got my Ruby to 80% wr with 400+ matches. Ruby as a tank is really good, considering that her skill cooldowns are low. You can pretty much go for a set without waiting too much. And not to mention you can Flicker while you pull the enemies in or do a sudden flicker while ulti animation is playing. not only that, she surprisingly works well as a fighter AND as an assassin gold laner. I'd say ruby is probs one of the flexible heroes in the game like Chou.
I ve been getting into this game a lot more recently, and ruby is one of my favorites. She isnt really the best at any one thing, but shes dang good at almost anything you need, dmg dealing fighter, a hardcore tank, hybrid.
note: building all the lifesteal items and 2 tank items already makes you tanky. just build lifesteal build. Building as tank basically says: I'm not gonna use Ruby's passive and put a disadvantage on myself edit: oracle doesn't give passive benefit at all. Not lifesteal just heal effectiveness
Day 37 of asking Beto to play Thamuz. Fun fact: Beto has played 10,589 matches and not one match has he played Thamuz, Thamuz is also the only hero he still has 0 matches with.
perfect! my skill in using ruby has become so rusty, now i can try to be a perfect ruby player by watching betosky's video.. Hope the video makes its charm
I totally agree about not building haas claw or any lifesteal items. I use brave smite so that I can have lifesteal for my CC skills. Great content btw
Pro tip: If you feel like your teamates are a little behind and they won't be able to reach u after u ult with Ruby then u can flicker combo with her ult just like Franco hook but u need to be a bit faster and flicker right before her ultimate animation starts
Ive been using ruby as a tank for a long time, and it's just solid 👌 No more to say, its good Its just fun to use versatile heroes like ruby, chou , jh where it can be a tank or a dmg dealer
I once used to Watch and like betosky a lot But a few months ago I had to uninstall mlbb bcoz of storage issues and so I stopped watching him Now I installed mlbb again and nostalgia started hitting me really badly Happy to be back in business with MLBB again:)
ruby is so flexible in team comps i love her sm,, she can use fighter, assassin, and tank emblem or be a jungler if none of your teammates wants to adjust. biggest thing i love abt her tho are her dashes, big lifesteal, and cc skills, so fun to annoy the enemy by dashing around them and spinning
Tank ruby since day 1. Endless battle is a must for cd, life steal, move speed, and mana regen. Good for mid and end game with critical initiation and sets as long as you play the role.
I frequently use her as tank eversince last season especially on epic tier where most of players would pick every role except for tank or at least tanky heroes. I was also forced to try her as jungler and as a side laner i was not very confident to fill that role. But as far as I remember she can deal big damage but still the result is dependent on how you and your teammates played the game. Its just that i can really say Ruby is one of the flexible heroes in the game.
