Hey Loves, I decided to be open and share my struggle with anxiety as a nurse. I think this is very common among a lot of nurses and I hope this video helps someone who's also dealing with this. Please don't forget to like, comment and subscribe.

I completely understand. I'm an RN in the emergency department. I had so much anxiety during my first 2 years. When I would drive to work I would get so nauseous because I anxious about what I was going to walk into. I struggled to eat and to sleep. It was rough but I started seeing a therapist to help me deal with it. And your right God is greater than my fear I have and he has given us the power. You certainly aren't alone.Thanks for sharing your story.

Kirsten S. Anxiety was a real factor for me within my first 2 yrs as well I ended up with an event monitor due to elevated HR and had multiple trips to the ER only to be told I was anxious. This yr I had to make drastic changes to find balance.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am a new grad in the ICU and I was generally so confident before nursing. I have been a nurse for about 8 months and I felt that my self esteem really took a hit because I felt like the weakest link on the team compared to the other experienced nurses. I thought it was just me going through. My anxiety would manifest when it was time for me to speak to a Doctor or experienced nurse. I would fumble over words and that made me feel even sillier. SO thank you for sharing.

Hi, I’m a 3rd year nursing student, I searched this video to help me with anxiety before placement, I saw your comment and I just wanted to ask, did you get used to this anxiety or no? 🥹

Thank you for put up this video, anxiety is kind of looked down upon the nursing community. It is a sign of weakness in our field because it does not showcase confidence . Coping is difficult and I thank you for putting your take on coping

Thank you for putting up this video! I’ve been a nurse for 2.5 years now on telemetry and cross training into the ICU. I’ve been so anxious, and my anxiety manifests as my mind goes blank and my heart races. I forget tasks or overlook things. I do feel dumb around the experienced nurses because they think of things my mind didn’t during the whole shift. I was just starting to feel good on telemetry too, and now a new adventure begins. Fear is so crippling, so thank you for this.

I started out as an Aid, then a LPN for 5 yrs. Went back for my RN and have been working as an RN for 2 months including training. I work at a hospital on a medsurg/peds floor. Stayed on the same floor I worked on as a LPN. I have never EVER experienced the kind of anxiety I have since becoming an RN. It's so bad I break out in hives at times. I even cry a lot more 🤣🤦‍♀️😭. I hate bedside nursing and dont look foward to going to work anymore with my new role. I know I need to give it time to get comfortable but damn is it hard. I knee the transition from lpn to RN was going to be different, but I did not expect to feel such anxiety and self dout in myself.

I needed that bible verse tonight. It is my first night back to work after a traumatic event and the thought of coding someone is sending me straight into a panic attack. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I will be quoting that verse in my head throughout this shift.

Thank you for this video! I relate to everything you said. I just graduated in January and did my final preceptorship in the PACU. I was so anxious throughout it that I started experiencing excessive hair shedding. Right after my placement was finished my hair went back to normal. I've dealt with anxiety my whole life and nursing has definitely brought it out because of the exact things you said, being scared of being incompetent and not performing well/fast enough. I don't want to let my anxiety stop me from accepting a position there but every time I think about going back I get so anxious, despite me loving the PACU! This video helps a lot!

Im going tru this rnow. Im a nurse for 7 years but i migrated to the UK and im here 6 mths and I have never felt this anxious in my life . Many days I go to work and the nurses constantly insult me like where did u do nursing because I dont know some of their machines or meds that they have but I go home and research alot. Im the only black nurse on my unit and im watched even more than anyone else. I have butterflies everyday I go but it subsides 1 or 2 hours after I start the shift. Thanks for your video I pray I feel comfortable in time to come.

Thank you so much for this video. You are a true blessing. I have been dealing with severe anxiety as a nursing student. I will start working as a student nurse on PACU this Wednesday, and have struggled in my mind like what if I make so many mistakes and people call me stupid. Today during a code training, I was so anxious that I dropped the epinipheren medication when trying to use the syringe and the glass broke. I felt like running out of the lab. But I just had to keep going even though I felt fear. Im also a Christian and I loved your bible scripture and what you said about God bringing you here as a nurse. I am well able to do what God has called me to do which is to save lives. Thanks again!!!!

i’m going to nursing school this year, and i’ve been watching so many videos about nursing to know what i’m getting myself into. i’ve had anxiety for many years and i’m scared that i’ll get anxiety when giving an i.v. or anything intense. do other nurses have this too? does it get easier? or should i reconsider going to nursing school?
@Micheleschoice

Hey Taylor! I felt anxiety too, but I think its a normal process we all go through! with experience and exposure it gets better! You will learn what to do in nursing school in order to be a safe nurse. Right now you are scared because you haven't learned yet but once the knowledge comes, apply it and of course pray and you will do well!

As a nurse, I don't get how nurses feel anxiety. Just look at your patients. They have it way worse than you. This cycle of anxiety is a millennial thing. Everyone's on some kind of anxiety med nowadays.
