We have prepped. We have toiled. We have put in the blood sweat and tears for OVER 3 YEARS!!! We finally held our first Linear Appraisals with the ADGA on our Farm. What's more is we were a host herd! We invited other herds to come and to be appraised as well and it was such a WONDERFUL experience and y'all to say this brought me to tears in a good way is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Sadly there isn’t adjustable in RU-vid studio My editing program jacked the music while uploading but I’m working on creating an LA review with just the information from the appraisal so people can hear it better. Stay tuned!

Loved hearing your chimes in the background! Question, is it profitable to have a herd of goats or is it more of a labor of love? I know you sell the offspring but do you sell the milk or just use it for your consumption? I know you are starting to make soap and that can be profitable.....and do you consume goat meat? It just seems like it's expensive to take care of a herd properly like you do.

Is it profitable? Monetary worth no, not yet. But I want to get to that place where our program is well recognized and our goats pay for themselves. My kid sales do pay for all of our hay and replacement stock. We drink our milk and I am licensed to sell it as pet quality consumption (IN is a little hateful over Raw Milk) I am going to push my soaps and hopefully lotions come spring. We have butchered on of our goats and it was delicious but Nigerians are really too small to glean all that much meat. It is definitely a labor of love at the moment but HOPEFULLY one day we will break even. I have never actually really kept books on what goes into them and what comes out but I want to this year since we're contemplating LLC'ing the farm and pursuing tax exemption That was a really great and thought provoking question!
