As time goes on and you get older and gain more knowledge and wisdom, you start to understand that it takes someone that you have a genuine connection with and have lots of trust in without being selfish and taking advantage of getting what you want from the other person in order to lose your v card with a good intention and purpose. I'm 18 and I still have my v card and don't really care about wanting to engage in any activity anymore. I'm more in the mindset now of "If it happens, it happens" rather than the "I must have it" mindset. S*x has been highly mistreated in this day of age. It's supposed to be a spiritual connection with someone, NOT something that is used to fulfill a desire or to "fill the void." That is toxic. Like I said earlier, I'm 18 and I still have my v card. I'm glad that my mindset is changing compared to even last year because it's helped me see it in a different way. If I end up losing my v card, at this moment, there's only one person that I trust to engage in activity with because I have a stronger connection and bond of trust with this person than anyone else I've ever met and got to know. I'll never ask for it. If it happens, it happens.

i switched schools last year, im currently 15 and i was in 8th grade when i did. at first, i regretted it quite a lot since, y'know, going into 9th grade in a new school you dont know anyone in is pretty shit. fast forward to the end of this year, i see the friend group from my previous school outside, we talk a bit and basically everyone there became who you just described. most of them were vaping, drinking, smoking (not even hiding it, one of them just lit a cigarette on the street) and even selling weed. how fucking glad i am i switched.

Lost mine last year with my girlfriend, she was 15 years old (17 now), I would say it's fine to do it as long as you're not doing it with a random girl and as long as you don't get her pregnant. We still really love each other and our obsessive love hasn't decreased since the day we met at school. I'm sure I did it with the right one.

I lost my V-card when I was 14 to my girlfriend at the time, we'd been dating for around 5-6 months and we escalated too quickly. I really do think it would've been easier to move on after breaking up (we'd dated for about 1 year 2 months) if we hadn't. Instead of it just being a normal High-School breakup it felt so much worse and more serious. I'm not suggesting saving it for marriage but definitely wait until you're genuinely ready.
As an 18 year old myself, you're still young and have plenty of time ahead of you to enjoy your youth and make the most of being young when you have the time. Sure, 18 may be legal but it doesn't mean it's the end of your youth nor will your youth end at that age. I'm 18 and I still feel very young and enjoy living this time making the most out of it. Just because you're turning 18 in a year, doesn't mean it's the end of being a teenager and your youth. You're still young and have plenty of time to enjoy your youth, so don't think it's the end just because you will be legal next year. Congrats turning 17 on your upcoming birthday and enjoy being young when you have the time.

I notice a few people making comments such as ‘12 yo is crazy’, I agree, but I think many people would be surprised how many 11/12 yo have had sex and lost their v-cards. There will always be some, but I think in Australia, whilst not as bad as the US, the conservative Christians, have had too much control of PDHPE (sex ed modules) through school, and demanding parental rights to oversee the content in a school and whether their child can stay in the classes. We have to break the cycle of fear of talking about sex naturally at home, in conversations with family and friends and dramatically bringing forward sex ed/relationship discussions in our schools. From my perspective there should not be any exemptions to attendance in these classes, mainly because the kids withdrawn by their parents become the ones most at risk. It goes over to other areas, such as you shouldn’t talk about non-traditional families in lower primary schools, because they can’t understand. Well after kindergarten a lesbian couple friends of mine had to move their son to another public school as he was hassled all year by a student demanding to know which of his mums was his real mums, and the school was incapable of even managing that. We know from the US the abstinence sex ed message is a failure as teen births rise in those areas. This cycle has to be broken but it will need a lot of changes in our society and schools. We have to stop being up tight about sex and our bodies. How many high schools kids don’t shower after PE lessons and either stink all day from BO or stink all day from far too much spray on to cover their stink (boys particularly). Those that do, and we see this in gyms etc now, the open showers of the past in many schools have gone to private cubical not only to shower but some places to change. I am so glad your electronic friend reached out to you. You have outlined well some of the consequences, but we must advocate for changes at the cause.
In my opinion schools should teach the core elements of s3x in biology class but nothing more than that. There is no reason for a teacher to start talking about gay s3x and s3x toys to 14 year olds, its inexcusable to me. S3x ed classes already teach far more than they need to. Teenage pregancy is on the rise partly because people are becoming more and more secular. The standard used to be waiting for marriage. It's not like the people don't know what happens if they dont abstain, they just proceed anyway. It's entirelty your own fault if you do it as a 15 year old and then become pregnant. A parent should have every right to keep their children at home if what they are being taught at school is awfully obscene. -I replaced "e" with "3" to avoid this comment from possibly being removed.

@@Hank39 It is absolutely necessary for children to be taught history in school yes. On the other hand it is not necessary for a child to be taught gay s3x positions. Again, children should be taught the fundementals in biology class, and there isnt a need for more details.

I thank God for being a muslim, so as a muslim we mustn't have s*x until marriage, and yeah I know that people getting married in western countries is not as common as in my country. Here if you fell in love with a girl you would go propose to her at her home, then you will be engaged for as long as you both need to know each others and be ready for marriage, and getting divorced in islam is not as complicated as it is in some countries.
