Hawaiian monk seal in Lagoon at Hilton Waikoloa Village. 

On Sept. 14, 2023, Hilton Waikoloa Village was greeted with a surprise visit from a monk seal and her pup swam at the resort’s ocean-fed lagoon.
The lagoon was promptly closed for the safety of both guests and the monk seals. The Department of Land and Natural Resources is currently onsite to identify the seal and her pup.
