Hawaiian Soul: The Making of a Short Film About George Helm 

Native Hawaiian filmmaker, 'Āina Paikai has produced a moving narrative short film about the life of iconic musician and aloha ʻāina advocate, George Helm, Jr. With his talented cast and crew, Paikai tells the story of George Helm’s life focusing on Helm’s gift for, and love of, music. Paikai posits that it was Helm’s music and natural charisma that provided him with a platform to talk about aloha ʻāina, and specifically, to speak out against the bombing of Kahoʻolawe.
His film is set to debut in the coming months.
Mahalo nui to Joan Lander, Kevin Coates, Steve Morse, Sherman Napolean Jr., and Mikiala Pescaia for permission to use their archival footage and behind-the-scene photos, and to Jon Osorio for permission to use the mele "Hawaiian Soul" that he wrote with Randy Borden in honor of Helm. The film is named "Hawaiian Soul" with their permission.
