I love that Laura is totally in on the loop and is even used as a sort of "Person in the Chair" contact as opposed to being the ol "wife that I have to keep all this a secret from." So often in these types of scenarios we see the superheroes feeling like they have to keep all this stuff secret from their significant others and I like that they represent Clint and Laura's marriage as being totally transparent, and that he even like relies on her for info and stuff. Really cool.
It’s also refreshing that’s she’s not nagging on his ear like “you’re gonna get yourself killed” or “your family needs you” or annoying stuff like that, she understands what he has to do and is supportive
I was pleasantly surprised by this myself. After watching Endgame, I kept thinking about whether or not Clint would be able to tell Laura about his time as Ronan. I really expected this to put a strain on their relationship but I'm glad it didn't happen that way.
The way Kate said the exact same thing Gwen Stacy said before she died: “I chose to be here, I understand the risk, I understand all of that”... is the most chilling “foreshadowing” I’ve seen so far 😱💔😢
@@proclubmoments6712 of course not , but it’s a deja vu moment, especially that she was saved a minute before, in the same position Gwen died, floating mid-air with her back to the ground, and he was reaching out with his arm as if the robe was his spider web.. he even did the same face expression as Andrew Garfield
It was so awesome seeing Yelena and Clint having a fight between each other. Wish it lasted longer, but maybe they'll have a rematch in the final episode. And maybe Kingpin will show up in the end as well, in a post credit scene or the final shot of the episode.
The fact that Clint knew it was a Black Widow maybe because of a red version of a Widows Bite Natasha could have told Clint about what happened and that there is an area where Black Widows and trained But what if Clint actually knew that Yelena was Natasha’s nonbiological sister and just didn’t want to talk about it saying it is a Black Widow Also when Kate falls off the building It plays the same music when Clint and Natasha were on Vormir and were both hanging on the edge Instead of Clint pulling Kate up He lets her go as instead Clint didn’t want Kate to die from the Danger And If I’m wrong I’m pretty sure the places Yelena shot at Clint was also the same places Natasha shot on Clint in Vormir
@@kindplanet1 I don't think Clint knows about Nat's sister. He would recognize hallmarks of a BW, though. Go back and read the panels for his explanation of Swordsman earlier in the vid. Clint (?) talks about knowing someone's style or signature and knowing who is behind the mask before seeing them; also who taught them. I would expect a callback to that, just not a direct link to Yelena specifically.
Kate’s “dog in the arrow” sweatshirt says “Laika” in Russian. Laika was the first animal in space, a stray dog who was launched on a one way trip to space on Sputnik 2.
every episode gets better, natasha memories hurt this episode 😭 what i’m wondering is how Maybe is so strong and durable. She tanked an arrow, two black widow stings and kicked Kate so hard she flipped lmao. She a cyborg or sumn😂? cool to see Yelena again, it was interesting to see how scared Clint was of the Black Widows though, really speaks on their reputation also, i’m not sure if it was intended reference **but** i did catch that Bombshell name drop, wish it was a reference to the actual hero but i’ll take what i can get 😂
Agreed on most of your points except that I don't think Clint is scared of the Black Widows, it feels like he acknowledges it's serious enough not involve amateurs like Kate that's all. He likes her. Acknowledges her skills, but this is assassin territory now. Real sh*t
Episode 5 was pretty boring honestly I was excited to see what happened to Clint after Jack pointed his own sword on his neck Would have been better if Clint just said Jack’s name as Swords Man As that would indicate Clint knows who Jack is and his cover up name They end doing a small fight but Kate and Eleanor stop them
If you think about it, no freakin way a normal civilian would be able to live as a ghost as well as Laura Barton did. The avengers had no idea she existed. She is definitely either a retired former field agent or clint bartons back office support
I’m loving this show and thought this episode was best of all. It’s just a really good origin story for Kate intertwined with spy stuff that reveals some secrets we weren’t aware of. Looking forward to knowing more about Laura
@@ranamores4919 this isn’t about Hawkeye, it’s about Kate replacing him lmao. They’re setting up the young avengers and the way to do it is to either kill off Clint or have him “retire”
I legit forgot Yelena was gonna be in the episode and I was freaking out. "Who is that??? Why are they fighting Clint & Echo???" Then it clicked and a moment later she is de-masked. It was awesome to see her. Really loving all the Hawkeye things. Great series so far.
Eleanor gives that 'caring for my daughter' speech, and it seems very honest, but notice she asks Clint if he's gonna drop the case, not leave her daughter out of it. Interesting choice of words, isn't it?
I love when Barton says "Someone has hired a Black Widow assassin." Shows how much respect he has for that training lineage; he knows how dangerous the Black Widow's are. Edit: I also like when Belova just shakes her head at Bishop. I took that as "I'm a trained killer. You're just a child; I know you won't kill me."
Clint said that the greatest shot in his life is the one he didn't take, referring to that time in Budapest when he could have killed Nat but he didn't. They mirrored the moment with Kate and Yelena later on.
Man. I think the series is great. It shows the beauty of the MCU. It took them this long to finally show us how heroic Clint really is... being a boring old human, saving the universe. I find this stuff way more compelling than demigods punching each other.
Fantastic episode. That moment with Clint made me put together something I knew but hadn't quite realized. He, Hulk, and Thor are living with having lost half the original Avengers. Itll be interesting to see how Thor and Banner each deal with this when we see them in the next year or so.
Very good point! They are living with grief and having lived through the blip. Outside of Thors physical changes we haven’t really seen how this long term affects the avengers and what they might stand for now. Side note, I think they are going to make Thor “conventionally attractive” again in his next showing because money & Chris Hemoglobin 😅
I’m getting really interested in who owns the watch? When he said “Old Friend out of the game for a long time” I thought it was Coulson. I wish it was Coulson but it’s most likely not.
Jack def feels like a red herring like they want us to think he’s the villain so they can reveal it’s someone else and maybe Jack even uses his sword fighting abilities to help Clint and Kate at one point
The references to Clints past almost got tears out of me 🥲 … My mind is flipping over the hexagons, I believe the sofa chairs Kate’s mother and Jack were sitting in had those as motifs also 🤯it’s all connected Paul 🤪. Great vid as always and thanks for spoiling us 👍
Hexagons? Where had I seen hexagons before? Was this a nod to Wanda, I wonder? So many details I missed; have to watch the episode again! Two more to go; can’t wait
I like that they talked about hitting a double bullseye by splitting one bullseye’d arrow down the middle with a second arrow, I’m wondering if that’s gonna pop up in the arrows that hit the bullseye in the “hawkeye” title card in one of the last episodes as symbolism of Kate achieving “Hawkeye” status and in a way, replacing who came before her like how the second arrow splits the first arrow and almost basically replaces it by hitting the exact same spot in the same angle
they also talked about the boomerange arrows is also a reference to the comics that this was based on. Where the bridge scene is where Kate is suppose to use the boomerang arrows instead of Clint using the Pynt arrow.
This has been my favorite episode of the series so far, precisely because of the slow pace and the smaller, more intimate, character moments. It was lovely seeing Kate and Clint bond over Christmas, and heart-wrenching to see Clint grieve for Natasha. 10/10.
I think so far I’d rank the shows from best to worst - Loki, Wandavision, Hawkeye, Falcon & The Winter Soldier and then what if. Which really surprises me as Hawkeye was my least anticipated.
It's hard to say until I see the last episodes of this show but so far my best to worst is- Wandavision, Loki, Hawkeye, What if and Falcon & the Winter Soldier. But to be fair none of them are really bad for me it's more like best to good or A+ to B- . I actually like Falcon & Winter Soldier just not as much as the other shows, the villains weren't as interesting to me as the other series and we needed a little more funny bonding moments with Bucky & Falcon in the show.
Theory about the watch and who it belongs to: it's Caps. It's a "vintage" Rolex, belonging to someone who's been out of the game for a while so Clint had said, and that discovering what the watch is would blow their cover. I think they're going to be reintroducing Old Man Cap and the Rolex is his Time/Space GPS wristband they used to time travel in Endgame. Cap could have repurposed or disguised it as a Rolex when he spent the remainder of his years back with Peggy The only thing I can think of is why it would have been recovered at the Avengers compound
lint Barton was a former criminal working for a mob boss, Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin before he worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. . Clint met his wife, Laura there. Laura was UNDERCOVER. Laura Barton is actually a FORMER S.H.I.E.L.D. agent/spy named Bobbi Morse codenamed "Mockingbird" and she helped Clint leave the life of crime and got recruited by Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. ....... Clint's wife is a former spy too, a former superhero. In the comics, she was a member of the Avengers too. I think that watch belonged to Clint's wife. Laura is not her real name because she is trying to hide her real identity: Bobbi Morse. Bobbi Morse made so many enemies because she was an undercover agent in the criminal world. Oh, and her wife's real hair color isnt brown, it is blonde!
This series is pretty great, love how they're bringing up minor heroes and villains in a subtle way. Wish Kate wasn't so Hailee Steinfeld but plot is plot.
Another great episode! You covered the hell out this! Just wanted to point out that Jack's idol is Huey Lewis in case that becomes an important plot point in all of the MCU.
Here’s a Captain America Civil War Easter egg you still forgot in Hawkeye Episode 3 Echoes. Check every shot where you see Clint’s bow being used. Clint's bow is wrapped in some sort of white cloth as he and Kate always hold it by the area wrapped in white. Back in Civil War, T'Challa broke his bow in half down the middle. He kept it as is without getting a new one.
I am really convinced that Laura is also an agent/spy. She handled those tasks clint asked like a pro, and based on her reaction to it, shes done it quite a lot of times too
Yelena saved Kate from falling then later saves Hawkeye from getting killed by Echo and in-between those two events Hawkeye stood in between Yelena pointing a gun at Kate. At that point you could see that Yelena knows that Hawkeye didn't kill her sister. That moment happened so fast but it really was a masterpiece and well written.
Only 2 "significant" things happened in the mcu during 2013 (and even then, they may no longer be considered canon.) Those were; the kingpin and lesley began consolidating their power, and frank Castle and Billy russo returned from kandahar.
Judging by the way Jack reacted to Hawkeye I think he will be a good character within the MCU, I also believe he doesn’t know his company has any connections with the track suit mafia.
The Flashbang Arrow reminds me of the same explosion when Thor hit Captain America's shield during that 3 way battle with him and Ironman in The Avengers.
This was an awesome and emotional episode like ep 3 it explains a lot, Clint lost Nat on Vormir and he doesn’t want to lose Kate I can see why, this is was a pretty good episode
In my opinion, Hawkeye is the best Disney+ series to date. I love all the character development and the emotion. I didn't expect to, but I really love Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. She is going to be an amazing addition to the Marvel Universe and I can't wait to see her in a feature length Marvel movie with other heroes her age.
You kinda missed the reference to more pop culture archers, in Lara Croft. In the trying costumes scene, when Hawkeye enters, there's Rise of the Tomb Raider box on the shelf, in which, of course, Lara's signature weapon for the reboot is a bow. Aligns with Kate's earlier reference to Katniss, as she too was an archer.
One thing that I caught in this episode: Kate and Clint discussing the double bullseye shot where Kate says it's impossible is a clear nod to the comics "Young Avengers Presents #6" which was about Kate's Hawkeye. She bets Clint's bow (which was given to her by Captain America, if I remember correctly, because they thought Clint was dead) that he can't do it, but of course he does and take back his bow (she steals it later anyway).
I want Jack to be a good guy and he supplies the larpers with real swords to take on the mafia. I think that would be a nice comedic scene and it would strengthen Kate and Jacks relationship.
Wandavision; man looks like the big bad. A woman is the big bad. Falcon and winter soldier misguided viewers into thinking the powerbroker was a man. Hawkeye .... my gut says kates mom
I got a feeling that Hawkeye doesn’t know who yelena really is, he said “a black widow asassin was hired”. I hope he finds out the significance of who Yelena actually is
It’s not really a feeling lol. It’s obvious they never met and that was shown at the end of Black widow when Val shows Yelena a picture of Clint in his Ronan costume blaming him for Natasha’s death.
Seeing Yelena Belova is definitely my favorite moment. Can’t wait to see what’s to come from that story line. They really show how much Clint cares about Black Widow.
feel like this could be a set up for a team alliance between Yelena, Kate Bishop and Echo in some sort of capacity whether that’s a young mcu version of A force or as members of the young avengers or both
18:20 this also ties back to earlier in the episode where Clint says that the best shot he took was the one he didn't take, which causes Kate to hesitate and not shoot at Yelena
To me this is the most entertaining and tone consistent show they had so far. The others had 1 or 2 things I liked but overall they were all over the place and tbh the universe destroying plots got to the point I don't care because I know everyone will be fine in the end.
Clint saved Nat's life. Nat saved Clint's soul. (by pulling him back for the path of the vigilante) Nat then defeated the Red Skull's soul stone riddle, by getting Clint to allow her to sacrifice herself, and so earning the right to wield the soul stone. This led to Banner's ability to wield the Infinity Gauntlet as only he met the 3 requirements of body, mind and soul to use the Infinity Gauntlet and survive. Body, cuz, well...he's the Hulk. Mind, because Banner is a genius...he is the worlds leading expert on Cosmic radiation, who had access to the mind stone, helped build Ultron and helped build the Infinity Gauntlet. Soul, because Bruce loved Natasha - perhaps more than Clint did, and certainly as a lover, and not a friend or family member. (remember that Nat is Godmother to Clint's youngest child, Nathanial) The soul stone's requirement is that someone prove their worthiness by virtue of what they are willing to give - as opposed to take. The stone does not even exist *physically* in this realm unless you complete the soul stone sacrifice. That is why no one knows where it is. That's why no on can get it or wield it. No matter how powerful. *Power is not enough.* That's the whole point of the soul stone's thematic function in the story. Even the writers of What If - did not understand this, and in their story even a robot can wield the stone which is frankly the difference between smart writers like Marcus and McFeely and the hacks who did the What If cartoon. They manage in the last two episodes to turn the entire Infinity Saga into a complete nonsense. Their Infinity Ultron version of the story - is therefore both illogical and pointless. Like something JJ Abrahams or Zack Snyder would do.
They are both great!! Heavy spoilers is for like right after and new rockstars gives you content for the whole week! Definitely my top two channels for breakdowns !
Yes Yelena 💪🏻 she needs her own show. Youre my number one go to channel mate, it's like listening to a friend watching you. Thank you for all your hard work 👍🏻
I just wanted to add to the fact that Clint doesn’t want thanks for saving the world because of losing Nat. I’m married to a veteran of two wars and he really dislikes it when people say, “Thank you for your service.” When episode one/two was watched, my spouse snorted and said, “That feels real to me.” So not only did he lose Nat, it makes sense that there would be lots of conflicting feelings about being a part of the Avengers.
yeah well i tell every vet i see thank you for their service.. its part of the deal and if he talked to older vets from previous wars he would have known that..he should just be thankful he came back ...alot didnt
I really hope we see a Fisk post credit scene at the end. Feels like the hints are way too obvious for Marvel to not have him secured by the time of filming the show. Eleanor is definitely going to be revealed as the villain though. I feel like Fisk helped her keep her company going after the dad died and she agreed to help use her company to protect his organisation or something like that
This episode was sick. I cant wait to watch the next episode on Wednesday along with NWH. Hopefully gonna see Fisk in this and daredevil in NWH 😂😂 Next Wednesday is gonna be sick for us in the UK
Little points: The arrow Kate uses on the roof is a Sonic Arrow. Straight from the comics. That is why Maya is not affected much at all. Yelena does NOT have Nat's Widow Bite. Nat's Widow's Bite fires BLUE taser pods. The taser pods from Yelena's Widow's Bite are RED.
Favorite moment was when Clint acknowledge the black widow being hired meant he was going down a path of no return and he seemed actually concerned slightly. I think the only way he gets away from the black widow is is by talking it out which I can't wait for!
I love this series for all the Hawkeye development. People always dunk on him for being "useless " compared to other avengers. People say he should've died in endgame. So having him live and see his development of being open to having a partner again, facing his dark demons of the ronin, now having to face Natasha's sister further delving into his grief for his closest friend, and on top of all that still slightly touching upon the insecurities of his public image as an avenger ie no costume and being mistaken for the girl from hunger games.
When Swordmaster says “If I ever met Huey Lewis. I’d be a wreck”, Huey Lewis is the songwriter for Back to The Future. Huey does the songs called “The Power Of Love” and “Back In Time” as well as making a cameo. He played the guy that said to Marty Mcfly and his band that their music is “too darn loud”.
