Hawks Deciding To Trade Trae Young Instead Of Dejounte Murray?! (Clip) 

The thing is that the Hawks were screwed with our without injuries. A lot of teams had bad injury trouble this year and even in games when we were healthy we didn’t have a good record. I agree, that the Hawks had an easier schedule with Trae out, but regardless the team straight up doesn’t work. Trae and Dejounte do not complement each other and we don’t have defensive pieces to make up for Trae on that end.

@@treymatthews3353 if you haven't noticed it's not just Trae,, these young guys in the NBA know Bogdan cant guard them either. He's just a notch less of a defensive liability than Trae is. Atleast Trae is 6ft tall so he has a built in excuse. No excuse for Bogdan,, typical no defense eastern European player

@@1RobertSmith oh I know it’s not just Trae. Bogi, Hunter, Bey, etc. have all been less that stellar defensively. However, They are not so bad defensively that you’d have to build a whole team around them just to mask their defensive issues. Trae is that bad on that end. While Bogdan definitely isn’t by any means a good defender, and definitely doesn’t help the Hawks defensive issue, he definitely isn’t nearly the defensive liability that Trae is. It’s not just 1 notch, it’s a handful. I know on/off stats are affected by lineups, but statistically speaking Trae has had the worst DBPM every single year on the Hawks since his rookie season of any player receiving consistent playing time while Bogi’s has just been slightly negative each year. The Hawks also have around around a 116 defensive rating in games without Trae this year which is a little below average (around 20-22nd in the league), but they have a DRtg of over 122 in games with Trae (the worst in the league by far as the Jazz have the worst with 120). Like I said Bogi isn’t a good defender, but he’s no where near as bad as Trae on that end. If the Hawks want a chance of contending with Trae they’re gonna need way more than just 3-4 guys that aren’t below average defenders.

Led the league in forced TOs in the clutch. He's statistically better than Hali, Dame, and most other star PGs on D. Grew immensely as an on-ball POA defender this year. So yeah....This talking point is not grounded in statistical reality.

@@25chrishall First, nice cherry-picking: Dame is atrocious on D, and Tyrese is not much better. Next, you should know that often shit defenders get lots of TOs, because they don't want to do the hard work of staying between their man and the hoop. Instead, they take wild swings at every opportunity, most of which are utter whiffs. They shoot past their man, take themselves out of the play, then the rest of your team is scrambling playing 4 on 5. The whiffer probably doesn't even try to recover, instead continuing on down the court for a wishful cherry-pick pass. Moreover, "grew immensely" from what? From a granny in a wheelchair with a wheel missing to a granny in a wheelchair without a wheel missing?

@@Theinsideoutsider Obviously, fit on a team would be important, but, in general, I would take Tyrese over either Dame or Young. He's not as much of a liability on D (especially when compared to Young), and I regard his offensive game to be more conducive to team synergy than those of the other two (though Young is also a gifted playmaker). Dame is nearing, if not already there, the downward slope of his career, whereas Haliburton hasn't yet reached his prime. (Though neither has Young, I would take Haliburton over Young pretty much in any instance.)

@@Kenny-bj2zqI mean ya he can’t play defense, but even as a “shot chucker” he’s still been average to above average efficiency wise each season since his rookie year averaging 25-30 ppg as an undersized guard. Not to mention he’s one of the best facilitators in the league which is probably the Spurs biggest team need. Traes and game would really complement Wemby and vice versa.

I don't want a rebuild but wouldn't want Trae unless it was just for a couple picks. A couple years ago, there was some breakdown of the players with the worse defensive rating and I think Trae was at the bottom of the entire league or close to. It's like the LaVine scenario. ATL and the Bulls played better w/o those guys.

@@Frederico_El_Padrinookay that’s just disrespectful. Ya Trae sucks on D, but he’s levels above Dlo offensively. Trae is one of the best facilitators in the league and also scores at a much higher volume than Dlo with similar efficiency.

@@Beniii71 Trae Young didn't take the Hawks to the finals all by himself. In fact the game he missed in the Eastern Finals the Hawks Won. Also the Hawks with Trae Young is a sub - .500 Team. Can you really say a player is a superstar if he can't get your team over .500? As a Hawks fan I know the downside of Trae Young greatly outweighs the upside.
