Now back in NSW after almost 2 months exploring the West Coast, we embrace camping at one of our most favourite East Coast destinations. Hawks Nest is less than 2 hours from our home and, as we aren't fortunate enough to be traveling full time, we love escaping to this piece of paradise so close to home.
Come with us and 2 of our 3 sons, Nick & Ben plus Holly, as we enjoy good camp food, great fun and beautiful surroundings. We definitely miss Riley & Amber, especially at our family get togethers and getaways. Bonus of this trip was also having our best friends join us for a night of shenanigans under the stunning night sky.
If you are reading this, please consider giving us a thumbs up and if you aren't already subscribing to our channel, please give us a thought. Love you to become part of our RU-vid family.
Thanks for watching!

Very enjoyable. The night shots of the camp, trees and ski were brilliant, well done!

Hey. Nice video. Was at that beach last year and your vid just reminded me how nice it is. Will defo go again soon. Quick fyi. Was trying to figure out how to pm you but couldn't so I'm posting it here. Hope I'm not offending anyone but i wanted to let you know that you shouldn't let the boys push the lead car like that while snatching another vehicle. You dont really know the quality/condition of the other vehicles recovery points and if anything goes wrong with the recovery gear the boys are in the line of fire. Stay safe and keep the vids coming.

Totally agree with you and also saw that potential accident as they ran up to push. It’s always important to stand clear - I should have put some text on that point of the video. Thank you for politely mentioning it, I do appreciate it. FYI RU-vid doesn’t seem to allow messages either way. Take care. Cheers Marg.

Awesome video. Nothing better than getting away, but so much more pleasurable when friends and family make the trip also. That place is a nice spot but their prices have gotten a bit over the top.

Used to visit here often during the 80's. Still have friends on the Pacific Highway near the Tea Gardens turn off.

Great guys, lovely with the family, I would luv to see a review of your millard. It looks to have handled your wa trip and everything else very well. What I'm getting at is,that you don't need a $100k set up to enjoy these places. Love the content.👍

Thanks Ray, appreciate your comments and we love our little van. I don’t think Millard make this model anymore, the Overlander, our van is 10 years old now and still going strong. Lots of adventures left in old Mildred, just wait to see what she does this Friday in the Watagan State Forest. 💛

Thanks, I think yes for both, but best to call. There are dingoes, koalas & roos around, so I’d say definitely no in the National Park.

Hi Gibbo's We've been loving watching your travels. Can you give me any hints as to how you get your night sky shots. Setting , light etc ? I tried when we were in Queensland recently but failed miserably 😅
@gibbosroadtripadventures
@gibbosroadtripadventures 9 месяцев назад
Hi Judith, love that you’ve been watching our travels and appreciate you stopping by. With regards to capturing the night sky, it all depends on the moon at the time, as to what settings to use. I use a Canon 6D DSLR camera which I bluetooth to my mobile phone to take photos remotely. I use either the manual or bulb setting. The ISO & f-stop depends on how bright the night is. For example: If it’s a full moon, I’d use a low ISO (100) and high f-stop (f22). If there’s no moon, I’d turn up the ISO (6400+) and use a lower numbered f-stop (f4). How long you leave the shutter open depends on how much light you want to capture in your photo, again the timing depends on what the moon is doing. Hope this helps. Cheers Marg

@@JudithHessey-vw8zy all the best and good luck, love to hear how you go, maybe in one of our upcoming RU-vids. I love capturing the stars so will pretty much always try to share the night sky at different destinations in our videos. Cheers Marg

Holly crap, I know camping fees are up but those fees are ludicrous for a bush camp. National Parks offer more for less. I'm certain I won't be contributing to the owners greed. I was looking at Hawkes Nest recently for accommodation, but both parks are very expensive for what's on offer also. Guessing I won't be visiting other than driving in & out again. No, I'm not a tight arse, I pay extravagant fees when justified, for example Kiama, $120 a night for a couple but they offer absolutely everything, dump points, amenities, power - TV boosted signal - water/sullage artificial turf sites, pristine camp kitchens, onsite cafe, onsite movies for kids, swimming pool, water park, jumping pillow, absolute ocean frontage on pristine beach. That's justified. These clowns offer a piece of dirt and you paid to squat on it, absolutely ludicrous greed.
@vonkurtz8437

Totally agree. My other half and I have just started camping and spent a fortune buying a ute and getting it 4wd and camping ready. Then we have to pay all that $$$ ontop for camp sites. Total rip off.

I feel your pain, costs a fortune to live like your homeless. We’ve been going to Hawks Nest since we were young sweethearts and as our boys have grown up holidaying there, we still like to venture back for the memories and beauty of the place. We are big on free camping but occasionally we splurge. Covid changed a lot for camping, especially in National Parks which we adore. Happy travels to you Ian, keep smiling! ☺️ Cheers Marg
@ianweal3081
@ianweal3081 9 месяцев назад
@@gibbosroadtripadventures that's why I'm aware of Kiama fees, been going there for 23 years Xmas/New Years with our kids, now with kids & grandkids. Costs a shit load, but as our kids are really well setup financially now they pay their immediate family fees now, gone from one site to four. It's our once a year splurge also. Well continue camping & paying reasonable fees when required, N/P's when it suits & free camping when possible.
