Hi guys, why don't you finish off the back wall with Insulation & Plywood so you can install your A/C mini split unit. You can run your electric wiring in the ceiling and run your wiring down into the walls from there. This way you can work in Confort. Why suffer in that Darn Heat. Just a thought... Can't wait until you do Solar and go off Grid ❤
Jim, I'm twice your age but I too have fond memories of following the baler and tossing square bales on a flat bed trailer. We only got a break when the string ran out. It was terribly hot miserable work, but, doing it with friends and family made is seem like fun. I also have fond memories as a pre-teen and teenager of spending time with my girlfriend in the hay loft. (OK, get you mind out of the gutter) Looking back, there were some special moments and we kept our clothes on. Fewer and fewer people will ever grow up like I did in the south. That makes me sad. Y'all have a very special place. Fight like hell to keep it.
you have better memerys then i of putting squar bails up i got 50 cents an hour in the 60s and did not get paid from the fild to the barn but growing up in the alagany mt i guess that was the best pay i could get
Great video again. I also have some great memories of throwing those square bails of hay. They sure felt heavy as a young boy. But good honest work. Y'all are amazing. See ya'll next time. 👍👍👍❤..
I remember growing up and throwing the bails of alfalfa on a trailer, lots of work, and doing it again as an adult. Nothing wrong with hard work. Yalls container is coming along great. Love the music and the video!
As a city-slicker, you left out this most important part! How do you roll up the hay to make the big bales? Love watching you guys… my dream is to have a piece of property like yours.
Nice job with the dents. Good thinking using the jack. Do y'all remember last video I said it would be a good idea to leave about 6 inches up top for wires and plumbing and an exhaust fan to pull the hot air out.
Jim's idea of bracing up the opposite wall and using a bottle jack and wood is "exactly" what I was think that I would be doing. Actually the bottle jack would have been a 2 person job while the screw jack made it 1 person job. Excellent Dent BeGone Hootis! That episode of Life in Pines 🌲 a couple weeks ago, where Teddy introduced the Tool Catching Hootis for use while elevated up on a ladder had me laughing out loud! He is such a character, I can only imagine what it must be like when he and Jim get together 🙃. I enjoyed the video today and am very glad you are feeling better again. Have a great week, stay hydrated and I'll see you on the next one. Take care my cajun friends 🤗♥
That enclosed cab on the tractor is worth it all. Best thing I ever did living in North Idaho for our Winters and Summers and working on my tractor. The shipping container build is coming along just great. Nice dent pusher hootis!
Y'all are makin me hot! I'm north of Chattanooga but it get pretty bad here also. Fewer hurricanes make landfall in Tennessee so there is that. Take any type fan and strap plant misters to the front of it. I find that two misters is preferable to me but some folks like three. Zip ties are good to hold the misters in place. I like to put a valve at the base of the fan for adjusting the misters. You can do this at the home hose valve but it's harder. You can purchase these fans already assembled for big bucks but you can make your own for cheap. Well sure but what do I do on the tractor? Glad you ask, trot your happy butts to Walmart for a clamp on 12 volt fan and mount a mister in the center of it. Power the mister with a small pump up spray jug from the garden center. If you have a side by side you may need two fans. I've got these on any type of fan you can imaging just to see what they would do. Turns out misters aren't very intelligent, they just blow down wind. I do like to mount them in the top 1/3 when possible or at the top of a air stream. Mist won't fall up. If you were to make one of these you will like it and it could be the Ultimate Hootis Fan?
Definitely a much quieter way to remove the dent. Nice job on the hay bails, the field looks soo much better. Glad your eyes are better Lydia and hope to see y'all soon
Enjoying your container build and the challenges it sometimes offers…The excess heat must be quite an endurance test…Enjoyed your sharing of Teddy’s “ability” to catch tools while standing on a ladder…Thanks for this week’s great episode…IAG, eh!!! 🇨🇦
This project is gonna be awesome when it's done. Just like all your other projects. Jim talking about the memories of the hay fields back in the day certainly brought back some fond memories of my own when I was a lot younger. I didn't realize it at the time, but those truly were some great times. HOT work, but some great times.
Lydia get a few bug bombs and set them off in there. Just open it up and let it air out a bit before working in there again. Also get spider spray and keep it on hand to spray as needed. You looked so beautiful. Stay safe
I have fond memories working in tobacco as a teen. It was honest, hard work and we did it with schoolmates so we had fun doing it. That was back when tobacco was king here in NC and family farmers still took pride in their crops. Taught us a valuable lesson in the rewards of hard work. Something that is lacking today.
👍👍My memories of hay season are a tad bit different as we only had square bales back then and it sure was dusty work, but all in all still good memories.
Maybe too late but from a carpenter of 50 yrs. + I would notch the wall stud. Good Luck and I know you've heard it a hundred times be careful in that humid heat.
Depends on the moisture and weight of the hay bales that you need a hefty sized tractor to move them. Good investment that pays off big time. Especially mowing and seeding the fields. Deisel power.
Weld a ring to the outside and pull in it with the tractor next time - more fun. We just survived tropical storm Debbie. Almost 12 inches of rain in a 24 hour period.
Good looking hay! You're right Jim, there is nothing more beautiful or satisfying than a fresh mowed pasture. I love that chair but Marie is worried that if I get one I want get any work done around here.😁
Time to put chickens in the container for roast chicken……eventually 😂 No studs were damaged in this dent removal…just Jim JK😂 The hay job looks amazing 😊 Not too many studs in this video, right Jim? 😂 Until the next video ❤😊
Jim n Lydia,,it’s august 23 rd here in the mountains of North Carolina and the last two mornings here have been in the upper forties Fahrenheit,,,I have a new crooked neck yellow squash patch that is hanging full of squash , and we are eating fried in butter rolled in cornmeal squash and left over tomatoes anddddd wearing jackets on our morning walks lol ,,,I’ve checked we’ve been cooler than the life n the pines crew lol.
The Hootis King does it again. I don't think there's one that he has come up with that I wouldn't try.😊 I'm glad Lydia's eyes are better. Starting in April I my eyes started watering all the time, It caused my vision to be blurry even with glasses. I went to the eye doctor. he diagnosed me with cataracts. So in May I had surgery on both eyes. No longer watering . No longer need glasses. I loved that machine that rakes up the hay. I've never seen anything like that. Is it from back in the day? Even in 100+ degrees you both manage to do or say something that makes me laugh😂 We are being blessed with upper 70's to low 80s for the next 10 days here. Praying that you get some relief down there.
So as hot as it's been here..... I have to wonder, why you never see Jim sweat much in these videos... Oh I know... Jim is just always cool!!! LOL. Great job you two!!
There are a lot of great RU-vid channels out there, but the 2 that we never miss a episode of are Cajun country and Life in Pines. Loved the dent be gone hootis, just hope Jenna doesn't toss one for Ted to catch😅. you guys be careful in that heat.😊
Guys I just watched a documentary on hurricane Ida in 2021 on Sky (cable tv here in Ireland) and it was mind blowing. In one of the clips it showed a container being rolled and rolled like a thrash can and that was in a built up area where everyone was staying indoors filming out their front doors and balconies. So I do hope that ye have that thing secured to metal plates or footings or something strong or else I hate to think what could happen if ye ever have to use it! Ye look like ye are in pretty open ground.
Lidia, I looked in all my nursing books and there is no warning about more than one black widow anti-venum. But that being said, it is always wise to educate oneself on the side effects and talk to your provider.
Jim, the secret is out... We all know you are in fact Spiderman so you can stop worrying.... you are immune.. 🤣🤣🤣 I gotta say, some of the stuff yall come up with just amaze me. I woulda just gotten some pew pew muffs and beat the brakes off that dent with a hammer. Your way, made it more aesthetically pleasing. I remember my days of buckin hay for a penny a bale. Good times! Great seeing yall again!! Yall been workin hard... you should go fishin! Have a great one!
I have always heard that you can only get ONE black widow reversal venom in your lifetime. In LPN school by a RN instructor and several times since then by various medical and science entities.
I would be concerned about the structural integrity of the container in a hurricane or tornado since it presents a very large area for the wind to push on. Cables from the top extending out at an angle to anchors would add a lot of strength for relatively low cost.
For future reference..... don't take any advice from me! I was going to have Jim pull the tractor inside the container, and jack the wall off of the tractor. Jim is the Hootis Master. NOT me! The Dent-Be-Gone Hootis did the job! Thanks for another great episode! BTW, tell Ted... "Up Yours" !!! 🤣He'll understand!! 😁
