What make art is alife isn't how it isn't good even bad enough can show a life but AI just somehow..how majestic it was somehow lack that feeling of alife
@@MoltenSamurai Miyazaki is a traditional artist by hand and *most* people love that his movies are by hand it gives an amazing touch to it and a lot of us don't want to lose that to AI (Including myself the ghibli films are incredible)
What isn’t shown in this shorts is what he meant when he said about the world going to end. When he heard that those guys wanted to make ai that can make art like people, he heard it as humanity that has lost faith in themselves.
@@kayzen03yet when ai achieve whole new level, ppl will became lazy and only have faith in robots. If the robot robot became stroger we would became weaker so yea that's why Miyazaki worried
@@kayzen03even still, artists (real ones) are already getting harassed by people who think their art is fake/drawn by ai, and the other way around sometimes for people making ai and saying they drew it themselves. it isnt fair, drawing takes a lot of work and some people are thinking its all fake, basically throwing away that hard work.
He did not react to ai art, he reacted to an ai rigging software that made a character move similar to a disabled person Miyazaki knew, it sickened him.
I just watched the full thing (on a documentary called never ending man:miyazaki or smth like that), they chose a horrible way to present their ai's potential. What they have shown is indeed an insult to life. A much better show of the same technology they used was a mobile game i played years ago called evolution. It could make a few sticks jump like a bunny, it was quite fun (but very limited) i think if they presented their method better he might not have reacted so strongly.
Yes, this was filmed years ago long before the AI this guy is packaging around it was even a thing. Think video game cpu AI, not “deep-learning.” These guys def did not read the room with their pitch I will say that.
No, he is NOT reacting to "AI art" in that video, don't misrepresent things. He was reacting to a computer simulation of movement, which had zombie ragdolls flopping around in a computer simulation, in a way that disturbed him and made him think it was insensitive to disabled people. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with current AI art, the clip is from years before it even existed!
"Humanity has lost faith in themselves." You're the one misinterpreting him. It's a combination of AI being created AND human creators losing faith in their own ability to create ANDmost importantly both AI and those younger "artists" having no respect for humanity. He criticizes how AI can not understand human pain, but also blames the artists for not empathizes with human pain either- while the machine itself understandably can't grasp human pain, the artists being impressed by this disturbing lack of empathy to the point of emulating it themselves to find out what happens when they simulate a human ragdoll disturbs him.
@@MissMiserizeexactly. It's comical how AI fans try to distance themselves from what they love about AI as soon as someone with artistic integrity points to it's essential flaw.
@WynonaRoder Yes. I think a lot can be said about the psychological effects of being exposed to sub-par "content" online as well instead of being limited to educated works of art and media in all fields. I grew up exposed to professional journalists with journalistic integrity on TV news channels and newspapers, edited books published by reputed houses under competitive conditions, learned about Shakespeare's sonnets and Da Vinci's paintings in school and read Twilight and songs approved by MTV or the radio and games approved by and well those last 4 examples where looked down as controversial or less than back (Twilight was criticised for subpar 'fanfiction' like writing, MTV/video games were too explicit and graphic) their all great compared to the FILTH on the internet today. The only reason anyone appreciates AI is that we've degenerated so much before it that it doesn't make a difference. Society shouldn't accept deepfakes as tech we should just get used too. Edit: I'm not going to edit the spelling or grammar mistakes in my post, but looking back after posting it, the version of who I was as an elementary school child would be embarrassed.
I don't know why we wanna replace a hobby we actually enjoy doing. Like why what would be the whole point in the end. And many artist would suffer because of this
@@jason_dyre It's the community or people that determine how valuable an art is. A picture drawn, be it landscape, fan art or potrait, is art that can be bought and exchange value. Is water paint splashed by a 3 year old more valuable than when it's done by a penguin or elephant? By that logic, is art created from numbers, AI or machine learning, art? Yes because people in general are in awe and find them to have worth and value.
@@silverjuly9339 Its worth is no longer the same when you realized that it's done by a robot. I mean, if you want a landscape, then heck just print one.
@@jason_dyre As long as it's beautiful and convenient, and you get what you want, would you be willing to spend time, money and resources to dig enough to find out that your painter is not human at all? Yea, it's easy to conjure and print any landscape.
its his life , and udk anything about his son nor him much , plus the movie his son made was garbage , dont just assume things . hes a wise man @@azurius4507
While I would not be surprised that this is Miyazaki’s reaction to AI art, this clip is out of context, as the technology shown to Miyazaki showed how AI could create unnatural walking patterns for a bipedal 3D model, Miyazaki compared it to a friend he had and struggled to move and called the animation sad and grotesque
Well he's right, and I most definitely understand where he is coming from, the end is near. I'm speaking as a fellow artist myself, and it's getting out of hand.
A Glorious Movie about to Accept Changings in ones Life. And what was more fitting than such a musical masterpiece!? Thank you, Hayao Miyazaki, Joe Hisaishi and the rest of the Studio Ghibli Crew.❤️
Do they even understand why this true artist's work is so appreciated and known around the world?! Because his art conveys so much meaning and emotions and feeling. There is so much empathy and expression in the characters. Of course he says it will be the end of the world!! Where is the world going with everything AI?!We are going to be a souless emothionless without emphaty with all this AI. Society turning people into robots without empathy is actually very dangerous. I see less promotion of being humane nowadays and more people adoring and promoting everything as AI. Soon There will be no room or place for true souls, feelings and art. That is really scary and sad.
you literally cut off the most important part and now makes him like fearing or hopeless that AI would take over human, but what Hayao Miyazaki mean was actually opposite
These comments show me some people don’t even know what ai is and just use it as a buzz word for bullshit and attention (kinda like the news who also are misinforming these same people) also I feel people are so close-minded and that will never change when something new is coming like people who draw and paint said that PHOTOGRAPHY WILL END ALL PAINTERS AND WILL DESTROY ART…..I think it’s the same with ai people not truly understanding and lending that lack of understanding to fear and that’s what pains me is the overall lack of understanding leading to fear which makes people AND ARTIST extremely paranoid, uninformed, and radicalized to new ideas which goes against the very thing we love which is art🫶🏾 just as much a photography didn’t end drawing and painting and digital art didn’t end anything this is the same just more art and new ideas and another form of self expression
You cannot compare ai art to photography or digital art. Unlike ai art, photography does not steal the work from artists without their permission and neither does digital art
@@maribelle258 It is an absolutely perfect comparison. Especially considering when it comes down to it, most Anti-AI people don't actually care about the supposed "stealing", even if that part is fixed, they still oppose ethical versions. It's all about the fear of competition. Which is exactly the same as what happened with photography, and digital art in the 90s. I personally remember being bullied out of trying digital art back when it was new, by people with the same "pickup a pencil" insults I see now against AI art. 100 years ago, when Photography came about, traditional artists raised just as big a fuss as they're raising today, about photographers using the technology to steal images of their paintings. 100% it is EXACTLY the same!
Bots who have no talent or passion defending bots who have no talent or passion. of course the average modern anime consumer who is exactly the kind of lowlife miyazaki despised would defend ai art which is just the extension of the lazy soulless beast anime has become. Post ai world will be hell but yall enjoy that
Lol, i know everyone sees him as a drama queen here, but damn he is right. As an artist and traditional illustrator myself i think he is right. People fail to understand that a human touch is much more different than a robot one. You don't only put energy into it, you put a part of a soul into it, you infuse it with your own feeling. Is the closes we get to God, thru love and creation. If we give up even that in favour of robots who don't understand to capure the human emotion itself, we truly are doomed. Don't get me worng i am not agains AI completly, some menial tasks that make our life easier is welcomed, but creation itself, the ability to create and use our skills should never be surrender to machines. I was also sadden when i heard there are schools that use tablets so yiu would never learn to write by hand. But when you write by hand, there is a neuroplaticity process happening and is shaping you as a person as well. Stripping young genetrations of that is just very worng. Why do we always have to go to extremes? Why can't we balance things out? And why would you want to give up one of few human pleasures to AI as well, what would be the point? I don't beleive you sitting on your back while AI is drawing in your place would actually bring you joy.
Hey BTW, good job posting a video that's made me lose respect for, and even actively dislike Miyazaki as a person. Wonder how many people feel the same after this. AI haters don't realize the damage they're causing!
I mean if you had robots strictly doing the animation and not writing the story or plot. There’s something to be gained and lost there. Anime would crank out at insane paces, but animators would be out of jobs.
Am the only one to think that Japanese makes their dialogue sounds like it’s straight out of anime😂 Japanese do be sounding like that no matter the context🗿
This clip of Hayao Miyazaki is completely taken out of context and is misleading! The whole video can be found on youtube and you can see it for yourself. Also, at the time this was filmed AI art did not exist yet.
If ai can make an anime with just manga panels, that would be so amazing. No more mappa slaving animators. And maybe the time needed for making that would be lower,it will have better animation and less budget.
Bruh… Yes if it can help, but no. Animator do it because it’s passion other than work. Then I have to say that very often is not payed as it should but still, the problem isn’t human animators but policy and rights for workers
@@premiumheadpats4150 no need to “slave” away all the mappa workers tho, bc theyll be homeless instead, and we can all watch episode 20000 of ai attack on titan :)))))))
Im confused about the hate towards ai art? It cant make it on its own. It doesnt have free will. You have to prompt it precisely to get to produce things that you want and then you can edit it anyway you want. It’s an excellent tool. The world is being too fast paced to keep doing it the traditional way. I hate 3D and this is way for them to render the same quality without having to sacrifice the style. It mimics the style beautifully and still allows you to cut production time. Just my take on it. I know im going to get speared for this but it’s wise to use the tools available to you. Adaptation.
Lol it's okay because Ai Animation will never capture the distinctiveness mankind can. People have styles, intentional Mistakes, or cuts/ holds etc in animation. With Ai, it can only mimic styles or there's that "somethings off" feeling with Ai.
Dude spent so long talking that he cut out most of what Miyazaki even said, and added absolutely nothing in the process. Impressive way to steal content and claim it as your own!
AI art sucks ass and is just a plagiarism machine that rips off talented artists. If you are proposing AI as a tool to make your art, then you are not an artist.
AI art sucks ass and is just a plagiarism machine that rips off talented artists. If you are proposing AI as a tool to write, you are telling everyone that you personally cannot write.
This had NOTHING to do with "AI Art". Frankly, this is the worst thing I've ever seen Miyazaki do.. He formed a misunderstanding, then doubled down on it to make these students feel awful about a cool research project they were working on. Shame on him! His fame does not excuse such behavior. As a life long fan, I've lost respect for him, after seeing this.
Right? He is still the best animation director so far, but that doesnt mean he cant also be a miserable old fool with a stick up his ass. I will neve runderstand how he is known to the general public as this wholesome grandpa like figure when every time i actually hear something about him he just seems like an asshole. At least his questionable methods are clearly working.
He was against the laziness of it. Japan is dying because of people like them, he was seeing the death of a nation. Anime fans dont understand. This is a country decayed. Yall just consume the media. This was not simply grumpy old man upset at young people things. This is disgusting to a real artist. Any self respecting person. These arent kids having fun these are grown men and this is there job, happy to have a computer do it for them. its an embarrassment. People today have no honor. If you think he was upset just about a stupid drawing you missed the frustration on his face. People he worked with literally gave their entire lives for art only for people today to let a computer do it. Its shameful.
@@NyasiaLivesHere The computer cant "do" anything, its a tool for peole to use. Watch the short film "jibaro" or the series "Arcane" to see how impressive looking 3D animation can be. Yes, 99% of the time i prefer 2D, usually it has just something more to it. Wich is why i dislike modern disney, they are soulles, i rather just rewatch 90s aniamted movies. But we cant just disregard an entire type of art.
