I feel like this ling ling 40hrs is such a generational inside joke XDDD, i see these sophisticated comments on different classical music videos and here and there i see a 16 or so y/o go "If you can play it fast you can play it slow" XDD
This video has brought me to tears; not because of the music but because of the passion of Benjamin Zander for teaching! He is so very passionate, sometimes to the point of distraction. A very gifted teacher.
I'm un tears too ! Don't know if I'm sensitive today, but she he said "it's the first time to listen to someone in the audience, and the last time for other" I started crying....
@@robertolarios4199 his videos always make me cry honestly the passion just pierces the soul he's such a beautiful human. Because of him I'm learning the violin and piano
'So, if you are having fun inform your face about it' LOL What a nice man Zander is, he knows like no other how vulnerable you are as a musician. Especially when you make even a small mistake. He said such nice things to this boy to help him feel confident about his abilities..
So, just a huge heap of co coincidences for me: I'm a cellist I'm 16 I want to be professional cellist I'm currently studying the Haydn C concerto... There's something appealing about this video
It was such a surreal experience, getting to be a part of this. I’ll definitely remember this trip for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for having us!☺️💕
Watched this again and couldn't help noticing Matthew's face does tend to be a bit expressionless. As a young pianist, I never really understood why so many musicians made so many faces, but I eventually noticed myself doing it once I had stopped trying to play perfectly and started playing expressively. You loosen up and let your entire body express the music. I hope this boy gets there too and starts communicating more with his audience and his accompanists using that handsome face of his.
Great regards from Germany. Thank you so much for this video. I am also 16 years old and play the viola. The lessons inspired me so much for my music and I learned a lot. Because the motivation from Benjamin Zander I want to become a professional musician. Thank you for that!!!
YOU Sir...are a MASTERPIECE... Just discovered you today from the TED talk of yours from 2008...Not knowing my olecronon from my ischial tuberosity about music except listening and being moved by it, l went through the whole hour of this. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it...because of your personality with all of its verve and vigour !! I wish I had a teacher like you when l was young. God Bless you
Benjamin Zander - wow, what a gifted 'maestro'. Very well done Matthew - these young musicians sound great and they're so lucky to go through this experience. Benjamin's ability to communicate and to motivate is mesmerizing. Weaving the past, present, and future while enabling these musicians to express themselves and bring that piece to life with the audience is absolutely extraordinary ; magical. And hey, Matthew's dad, from one to another , we see your efforts here - you get the standing O.
Oh my, my heart is bursting with joy hearing this! Matthew, your playing is exceptional, and your capacity to open yourself up and share it with others is wonderful to watch!! Benjamin, your inspiration and boundless energy is a guiding light for all of us. I felt it 100%. Thank you!!!
Spot......ON!!! BZ's encouragement is so very touching - and, I feel, right on the money. Yes this young cellist should absolutely conduct this piece. All the young musicians in the group are just waiting for it and obviously love him and want his leadership. Matthew, thank you. Go ahead, share the joy.
I played this piece when i was 15. I'm 47 now and this masterclass instantly brought me back to those early days. Magic of music to transcend time and age!!!
The young man shall remember this master class for the rest of his life. Wish him the best and hopes that he remembers to let us voice show us his excitement and passion.
The kindest way to put the screws to a musician: "It has to be felt every time as if it was the first time, because you know for the audience it is...and for somebody in the audience its the last time". Pressure and hope in one statement.
This is one of the most extraordinary MasterClass I have ever seen. I cried so many times listing this. Utterly inspiring. Life changing for the young musicians he was mentoring. Wisdom beyond measure. Thank you, Benjamin. As you allude, one of the immeasurable miracles of the internet is that it lets us meet teachers, like you.
Congrats for the extraordinary class, Maestro Benjamin! And congrats Matthew, for your performance! I'm utterly thankful for you for bringing us this wonderful sharing of knowledge about music and life
I was ecstatic the whole entire trip. But in the video I look so bored because I didn’t sleep at all the night before. I was held in Toronto for many many hours and then got my flight changed to connect to LaGuardia in New York. The flight from NYC to Boston was scheduled at 7 am so I had to (try)sleep in the airport on the terminal floor with no baggage as well cause something weird happened to the original flight. We had no clothes, no cello cause my friend at the far right (cellist) drove it to Boston for me cause we couldn’t afford another seat for the cello. It was tough. I was so excited believe me but I was so tried. That’s all.
I love this masterclass, cellist my age, very close to my skill level, got a lot of structural notes that I can apply myself, well done to Matthew, and to Zander once again.
Best gift a dad could offer for his talented son!
Matthew is also filmed in a conducting masterclass of the Oakville Youth Orchestra, where Maestro Zander attacked the principal 1st violinist's hair😁😁. It was hilarious!
@@matthewbuczkowski2242 Dear me! It is he whose hair was attacked 😆😆. Thank you for pointing it out, Mr Buczkowski. Have always enjoyed your playing and that of your fellow musicians. Keep up the great work and continue to enlighten the world with your skills and talent.
Maravilloso!!
46:13 BUT HE DOESNT KNOW ROSTROPOVICH HOW IN THE WORLD CAN U CALL YOURSELF A CELLIST AND NOT KNOWING ROSTROPOVICH (no such thing as new generation, I was born this century, and I know him 😭☝🏻)
It really is great to see the audience reactions too. The woman on the right side who is constantly bobbing to the music and playing air piano. I'm feeling it haha
Yes I understand it needs work, as all things do. We never really stop learning about something. There is always more room for improvement weather it is by you interpretation or another.
I am hopeful that with this inspiration I will be able to further inspire other would be musicians to take up the art form as a career amidst the high risk it carries. I am from the Kingdom of Eswatini and I love classical music.
I enjoyed the interpretation class very much. Benjamin has a way of setting the musicians on fire with enthusiasm and helping them in a positive way that draws them too him and his constructive teachings.
"When this goes out online ... people in Abu Dhabi, Ireland and Africa are going to watch you playing that." And here in France too. This is a truly inspiring video and the extraordinary bond between Matthew and Maestro Zander is a joy to see. It was also a great pleasure to watch and hear Matthew's performance on his RU-vid channel and to find a few more of his recordings. Thank you both.
This video is a genuine TREAT - a privileged insight into how delicious music is made but also an insight into the soul of a true "architect" (Benjamin Zander) who makes others' dreams come true. This is pure magic and so is the way Maestro Zander conducts himself and the musicians. This is about music AND life - something that music lovers and EVERYONE YOUNG AND OLD would really benefit from viewing. Did I mention that Mr.Zander is a magical human being too? WONDERFUL man and musician !
46:15 wow, the "Rostropovich" thing was quite unbelievable. Thanks the lady that suggests the brilliant young cellist to check who Rostropovich was in "...youtube..." Great session!
Greetings from Australia... this was so brilliant to watch! What wonderful insights from Benjamin and such dynamic interpretation by cellist Matthew! This is my favourite cello concerto and you brought it to life! Bravo to you all!
No, 5000 men responded to the Shackleton advertisment, not 28. Wich makes you think about the bravery of the men of the past. I love Zander, but he invent some of the things he say.
This is a really american way to look at music. Not the way I would a approach a masterclass, but nonetheless, it makes the music fun, and music is supposed to be fun; glad that people doesn't completely forget about it.
É uma pena q ñ é dublado...mas admiro a forma de instrução...amo esses vídeos...só de assistir e ver as diferenças para o resultados já aprede-se muito mesmo 👋
