I wish that people could just enjoy the beauty of the music and the sentiment that this lovely song expresses. Enjoy the gift that she is sharing with us and quit nit-picking.
Anyone of any age or gender who cannot appreciate the beauty of Hayley Westenra in face and form and voice, live, or recorded at any age, cannot be judged to be fully human.
haley is the most beautiful girl on the face of the earth! what makes her better is her voice. i def. miss her from celtic woman but i still follow her. we love you haley from us in the usa!!!
When you can sing that good, what does it matter what you look like?! But, on the other hand, she is very pretty, and has a complexion, and face, that most women would die for!! She also has a lot of class and grace !! LOVE HER MUSIC !!!!
Hayley is a Rare Individual with Talent to spare. She is one who would not Destroy her Voice and turn her Back on Those whom made her Famous. She appreciates what it took to get her there. For one who started out young she has a Good Head on her Shoulders.
I'd never thought of this piece as a solo piece (it was written for four-part choir), but it works well as a solo. Especially with someone with such a marvelous voice as Hayley Westenra.
“A prison cell, in which one waits, hopes... and is completely dependent on the fact that the door of freedom has to be opened from the outside is not a bad picture of Advent.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
My musical tastes are obviously wider than yours. I can appreciate both KTK (I have a number of her CDs)and Hayley. Hayley has never pretended to be an opera singer and if you hear her comments on here Odyssey album she was pushed in a direction which she was not entirely happy with by her record label. Hayley is an extremely versatile artist. Her latest album Hayley Sings Japanese Songs has reach No 10 in Japan. Her rendition of Amazing Grace as one of the best, if not the best, around.
She would have been SOOO perfect for Phantom of the Opera! maybe, they should make a theatrical release of Cats, and have her play the one that sings "Memories"
She's really great. Regarding the performance, I agree, but welcome to the world of performing live. One chance. To me, though, nothing like a human being singing her best.
this is a matter of taste and shouldn't really be discussed. But strawberri check out the video with Westenra and Bocceli (Vivo Per Lei) She's amazing!
you're mean, strawberriesunshine. Hayley was young in this video and has a great voice nonetheless. As for her hair, well, it's good that there are ladies in the world who do not need to overdo their appearance.
This is indeed one of the most lovely arrangements of All things Bright and Beautiful, by Rutter, that I've ever heard. I am accustomed to hearing it performed by choir's. I, myself, sang it as a baritone in my middle school's conert chorus many (many) years ago. Of all the english written choral pieces i sang during that 7 year, tumultuous time in my life, (middle and high school), it was and remains a very favorite. Back in those days, yes we were recorded, but the recordings of back then lacked in truly being able to hear the - majesty of a song like this one. For anyone who enjoyed this song, i highly recommended listening to several choir's sing it - but be sure, if using youtube, to add the nane "Rutter", the composer to the search. You'll be delighted to hear this magic song, particularly if you choose an adolescent or adult choir singing in full 4 part (Soprano, Alto, Tenor (---a stuggle for me at the awkward time lol), and Bass. There is a glorious choir out of Taiwan which, in my opinion is the best recording I've ever heard in my life. Love, grace and peace to all.
