This is an insane place to have to learn to drive! I couldn't even imagine having to deal with so many hazards when I was such a fresh beginner! She's smashing it, such a great instructor.

Passed 3 years ago, but I still watch these videos as they are very informative and help me be a better driver for myself and other road users. We appreciate everything you do for us new/experienced drivers💙. Have a fantastic day!

how many of the habits have you lost already? like regularly checking mirrors, signaling before turns? or have you been able to keep most of the habits? would be interesting to know how quickly people start the lose all the habits you learn, especially when your no longer required to have a driver supervising you and your on your own
@SquaredYS
@SquaredYS Год назад
@@randomsmile9064 Good question. When I was learning to drive, I had a bad habit of drifting slightly to the left and not checking my left mirror frequently. Which is very dangerous as I would be touching the bus lane occasionally, getting close to parked cars etc. It was very bad as my instructor always reminded me or he had to take control of the steering sometimes. I knew the sooner I broke out of this habit, the better my driving would be. I continuously watched videos on driving position, reference points and looking ahead to stay in my lane, then everything stuck with me ever since. My point is, a habit will always remain a habit unless you act on it and try and change it for the better. The earlier you recognise the bad habit, the sooner you can break of it. You make a very good point. Some drivers after passing get a bit too confident (not a bad thing) or comfortable since there’s no one there to judge your driving. Then the habits start to form, but they don’t act on it. Eventually, it becomes the norm for them and they become comfortable with it and start posing danger for other road users. Other than that, I still have my examiners voice in my head, so I do not have any bad habits YET😂. I also tend to treat each drive as a mock test, hence why I still watch these videos. This stops any bad habits from forming such as not doing regular mirror checks , signalling before turns etc.

@@SquaredYS10 months later, but your comment was a great read. Definitely helps as a beginner driver with some tendencies that need breaking, especially since I myself worry about falling back into them/gaining new habits after resolving these ones are dealt with 👍

I'm so glad your making this a series with Erin so we can all watch and learn with her and see her improve and grow as not only a driver but a person. I really want my license, but I have too many issues to get mine. I love driving though its 1 of my favorite things.. I may not be able to drive, but I can still thankfully enjoy driving through youtube and the passenger seat.. Also I'm jealous of all these learners being able to remember all the rules.. I constantly forget what the rules are..

Being 25 and at my 40th lesson, my very first lesson was pretty much my instructor saying "Let's just go for it and see what you can do". While I can handle stress just fine, it was quite the shocker just being sent down an 80 km/h road in my first lesson. It was good fun though, even though I did end up stalling a couple times. His remarks were that if I could just keep driving forever I'd be fine, sadly at some point I'd have to stop and start.

Fantastic! I'm so looking forward to following the entire series! Thanks again to Erin! And, of course, to Aman! I know that the pull-push steering technique is what has been decided as the teaching standard in UK, but I'm wondering if part of the trouble with getting the turns around those tighter corners to be nice, quick and positive might not be that the beginner learners are too overwhelmed by everything around to be well aware of where their hands are; as a consequence, they end up making those tiny shuffles with the steering wheel, grabbing it only inches from the previous holding point, and thus having a real problem with knowing how much steering angle they are adding. Wouldn't it help if -- still adhering to the push-pull technique -- the students were advised that when preparing to take a tighter turn (like on approach to a T-junction), their pushing hand should initially grab the steering wheel near the 6 o'clock position, so as to be able to make the first steering input quicker, more positive and more linear?

Amazing how many people do not respect learner drivers and take priority when they do not have it. And the car overtaking was ridiculous! Well done Erin on your second lesson!
