(Timestamps below) Hi I’m tired of these comments yes I wrote broken French because Alastor canonically can’t speak it very well this has nothing to do with creole French and obviously the French dub is flawless. I could have chosen the Canadian dub but I heard complaints about the accent so I went for the France french one, plus he’s very good. - Part 2 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wrYVdswqzjo.htmlsi=Y8QBIERoH-rLgm1j 0:00 niffty 0:37 niffty and vaggie 1:12 vaggie and alastor 2:02 valentino 2:23 husk and angel (it's a very long part bc i put 3 different languages for husk) 7:05 carmilla
It’s good to know that Alastor, the cannibal demon who freaks out all sinners in hell is French😊… d’ailleurs ta lu ou qu’il était français? Juste par curiosité 😐👌
Oohhhhhhh to add on. What if the reason they can all understand eachother is because whatever is spoken in immediately translated in their head so they can respond fast. So while they speak Italian, Spanish, French etc etc, we here it in English and so on
no but the fact Husk and Angel both canonically speak italian.. i NEED them saying at least one thing in italian to each other in an episode now!! like maybe Angel says something flirty to Husk in italian cause he doesn't know Husk will understand and then Husk responds in italian and Angel's like OH NO THIS MAKES HIM HOTTER
As somoene who has french as their first language... I don't like it much, i'm disturbed bc it doesn't sound close enough to the english dub for me, and i guess that i'm so used to the language that it loses any charm it could have for me
@@Evan.Butlin My problem is that I don't hear alastor, i hear Maxime from ReTake, the voice actor. That's very disturbing... I don't have that problem with Charlie (who is voiced by Elsa, our favorite snow queen in French) for exemple. When she talks and sings, she is Charlie, not Anais Delva (the voice actor). And i am really sad cuz I LOVE Maxime's voice !
Love how this video implies that this is not even necessary in hell as people can just understand each other through different languages, but Husk still switches languages anyway, which makes his interaction with Angel a lot more special/personal when he started speaking the same one as him
Yeah I like to head cannon that the characters could speak English but speak their native languages when drunk or emotional and as the bartender Husk is there to translate and understand them and just be able to comfort them in their own language
Well, to be fair it makes sense too given that Viv basically confirmed that Husk fought in a war, meaning he probably picked up a few languages while in other countries.
Nowadays, Riccardo Suarez is one of the best italian dubbers. His passionate talent is unique even among italian dubbing sector, one of the best in the world. Imho, as an Italian who loves dubbing and considers it as a art form on its own, he's a real star! ✨
I noticed that😢 i go to uni for an italian degree. It's so hard, but i understood these because i know it in english and only had to catch the difference in translation. But for all the academic BS i have to know. My last exam i only new Dante and Petrarca, i dont know sh!t about the other jokers in due- e trecento. And frankly id care but im exhausted😅(i passed thats all that matters
My favourite is the exchange between Spanish Husk and Angel, it flows so naturally. It's always fun to see languages with the same root have overlapping words
In fack italian and Castellano Are Very Similar in the tone of the voice, in the series 'cortando por la línea de puntos" is italiana and everyone like more the Castellano dub than the Latino américa dub
Well to be blunt. The mutual intelligablity comes down to... Exposure, Cognates, and Pronunciation. Spanish and Portuguese demonstrate the most amount vocabulary, but however in the way they sound and speak are dividied due to Portuguese phonology turns lo and el into "o" and raises vowels higher than written. While Spanish is much clearer... The syntax of portuguese is much older... Due to having its own verb forms. Italiano and Spanish sound closer to eachother with consonants being voiced in Spanish, but devoiced in Italian though words with F in Italian became words with Silent H in Spanish. The words are cut from an Italian's perspective though. No final S in most of Italian's words.
I like to think this is how a living human would see these characters interact, cause as they're souls they don't need to know other languages, they simply understand each other because of the nature of hell/heaven Edit: Omg, i didn't expect so many people to embrace this point of view...
Oh my gooood Angel's italian va is so good?? His acting when breaking down to Husk is so so amazing, his delivery of the "if im broken, maybe i won't be his favorite toy anymore... and he'll finally let me go" bit made me tear up 😭
Honestly I think Husk decided to learn everyone’s native language because they probably go back to speaking it when drunk so as the bartender it seems reasonable that husk would be able to speak to the characters when they’re drunk and speaking their native languages
The idea that everyone speaks different languages, but somehow manage to understand each other is such a good concept Edit: holy crap 1.1k?! Thanks for the likes!!! Also seeing all the games mentioned that use this idea is pretty neat to read!!! I didn't think there were games out there that utilize this lol
In Cyberpunk 2077 this is the case. As Night City has multiple languages spoken and everyone has a universal subtitle translator built into their optical systems. There's even a game mod that makes main characters speak their native language primarily instead of the set language you choose in settings.
Is nice to think that they actually always speak in their native languages but there is a sort of kinda a filter that makes sound every thing in English
Or a filter that makes everyone hear each other on a language they can understand perhaps (ex. Nifty would hear everyone speaking japanese) tho I don't know how that'd work for husk
@@Forest_little_creatureprobably the one he is the most comfortable with, even tho if this theory is correct they all atleast have to know how to write and read english
I am sure alastor can speak all worlds languages, I mean he can add a sound effect real time on his voice, he can use chatgpt and translation if he used the technology.
yeah it's accurate, before studying Spanish I could've understand some words and those key word made everything understandable because the Italian lenguage is pretty similar, and they almost even have the same grammatical stroctures for some stuff so even if they sound different they can be learned pretty easily
@@shadowsensei9040Yes, but it is not always like that, for example with French and Romanian, that is, with French maybe and only maybe you understand the context a little and what they are talking about, but with Romanian you don't. On the other hand, if you speak Spanish you practically already know a lot of Portuguese (or well, you understand Portuguese) and Italian with a little more effort but they are understood
@@lareselcorrobarrutia6773Yeah, I’m Mexican and one time I had to watch a show in the Portuguese dub, because I couldn’t get any other version. I understood most of it.
It's not that they understand each other it's that they know each other enough to just wing it and nobody has caught on that nobody actually understands what's going on, except for husker ofc.
I really like the idea that husk speaks the other character’s native languages (Spanish for Vaggie, Japanese for Nifty, French for Alastor, and Italian for Angeldust) when they’re having a hard time
Fun fact: Vaggie is talking Latino Spanish (because she is Latina) while Husk is talking Spain Spanish, which is kinda different (as an example, Spain Spanish is like a British english and Latino Spanish is like an Australian english)
@@Agus7531Well he is headcanonned to be a veteran from possibly WWI and/or WWII so he would’ve been more likely to be stationed in Spain than El Salvador
@@Agus7531 I wouldn't say that Latino Spanish is like an Australian english... there are way more accents in Latin America. Like... talking to an argentinian isn't the same as talking to a chilean or a peruvian.
The idea of "loser baby" being sung in Italian a language Anthony probably spoke a lot that angel probably very rarely speaks make the song hit even harder.
@@scribblecloud I don't think he was a bartender in life. All we know is he was a massive alcoholist and gambler. How that would make you multilingual is my guess and he may have picked it up during his time in Hell. Wonder what his native tongue is, it's been a hot while sinds I wikied
@@MissFlow Vivien said that he was partially Russian, but how much is not known. She doesn't reveal the full nationality of the characters, which is a pity. It's also a pity that there is no official Russian dubbing, I would listen to it in my native language.
I don't understand why the "broken" does it have any accent ?? Because I'm french but it don't feel weird at all , I mean I can literally talk like that irl
@@absolutelyn0one it's so unfortunate, but all the dubs we currently have sound awesome. i wish they made a mandarin dub though but i understand why they can't...
interesting fun fact i learned from my friend that speaks italian (and is learning spanish), husk and angel would likely be understanding each other while theyre speaking spanish/italian respectively. apparently, italian and spanish are similar enough languages that somebody who speaks one would understand (mostly) another speaking the other language. according to my friend, "i could say something in italian with a spanish accent, and a spanish person would just think im making a mistake" so like yeah !! its pretty cool languages are awesome
I don't know how you did it, but the transitions between the dubs for characters speaking different languages in the same scene is so seamless and it makes me happy
I'm italian and a have to say this, i like the others dubbings, but for me the italian one is the best for regarding the adaptation of emotions in dialogues.
Even if I understand Spanish French and Italian, I still think subtitles are required for a video like this to really appreciate all the dubs. Anyway amazing video
@@absolutelyn0one you can still use it tho, pretty sure the inglish subtitles will always show, well, the inglish stuff and not the actual translation (it is like that for portuguese) It really is just to help the context of the video overall, not everyone can remember the scenes and it makes it quite better
