Alastor and Niffty definitely have the best character arc.

Season 2 is going to be EPIC Sooooo excited to see it!!! Season 1 was a complete rollercoaster and rainbow and upside down of character development from everyone at the hotel, all the residents since they’re all different and messed up in their own way. Personally loved it! Especially Alastor’s character development (even if it isn’t much but I think we’ll see more of it in season 2!!) Slowly all of them start to believe more in Charlie’s dream There’s a spark of decency and niceness in all of them

I absolutely love how Vivienne developed the characters with time and gave the stories in a way that feels natural! I am so excited for Hazbin Hotel's second season, and I absolutely adore Charlie with all my heart!

Je trouve ça dommage qu'il n'y ai pas eu grand chose pour Alastor... Au début il était sadique et s'en fichait du projet, après il a protègé l'hôtel et a demandé à Menzy de partir en parlant vraiment du projet. Puis dans le 7 on voit qu'il est vraiment heureux chez sa vraie famille : les cannibals... Il sourit pour la première fois pour de vrai et à la fin on ne peut pas dire qu'il ne s'est tout de même pas un peu attaché à l'hôtel, même s'il reste malintentionné... Un autre personnage qui a évolué c'est Cherry Bomb. Au début c'était un punk qui se fichait de tout, par exemple pour le discours de Charlie. Mais on a pu voir que c'était tout de même quelqu'un d'altruiste avec le fait qu'elle sera toujours là pour Angel et qu'elle est triste pour Charlie quand l'hôtel est détruit. À la fin elle reste même à l'hôtel.

Sir pentious being redeemed does not negate the growth and development that Angel Dust has gone through. Both have great character arcs and angel very clearly cares about charlie and the hotel? Like, the idea that angel doesnt deserve redemption at this point in canon is.....crazy. The only thing that might get in the way is valentino literally owning his soul. But that has nothing to do with angels character.

I love Sir Pentious so much and it was so great to see him go from being a selfish, conniving person concerned with status and power into one who’s fully devoted to his friends, able to be vulnerable around them, compassionate, and brave.🥰💗💗💗

imo, Alastor differs from how he started, unlike the video indicates. While the others got a positive development and overcame some of their struggles, Alastor's mask started cracking in ep. 5, when we see him losing most of his composure and control - and we realise he actually never had control, except for his smile ("A smile is a valuable tool [...] it ensures no matter comes your way, you are the one in control") until he has a whole breakdown surrounded by the ruins of the previous hotel in his tower, only to reappear later smiling and singing as if he hadn't been almost sliced in half. At the end of S1 not only we've learned he's desperate to get out of his cage and be free, but we also learn that, despite his insistence during the song, he has started to appreciate the other has-been' company ("An enjoyable collective to be around. I admit one could get accostumed" - he had no reason to lie to Niffty here), and he absolutely loaths it! I think he could only get worse from now on, descending into insanity in an attempt to avoid what I'm sure he would consider "needless sentimentalism", genuine connections and furthering his self-isolation; once he reaches rock bottom and snaps, probably doing something awful to the rest of the cast, then he will actually be better. Redemption is the core of the show, and Alastor's will be the final, biggest challenge for Charlie to overcome. (I'm particulary excited for S2 because the Vees are going to be the main villains, and with Vox's obsession with Alastor things can become incredibly interesting.)

I do think Alastor changed (A little bit), because at first he was obviously there to take advantage of Charlie, but then in the finale episode(s), he comes back and actually seems to give more of a sh** about the hotel, and more specifically, Charlie. Idk, might just be because hes my favorite, but what do you guys think?

TL;DR: Everyone in the main cast got better. Except Alastor, who devolved into a breakdown due to his conflicting ideals (growing to like the others vs. realizing that attachment nearly cost him his life, and further contradicts whatever other machinations he has at play). And Niffty, who's just...Niffty, lmfao.

The reason Sir Pentious got redeemed is because he actually wanted to try to be redeemed, he went to the hotel with the sole intention of redemption, learnt lessons about being better from Charlie and then he sacrificed himself for his friends. Angeldust went for a free place to stay away from Valentino, he didnt actually go for redemption.

I think that Alastor more than likely did join everyone for his own selfish gain, but I think there’s a possibility that secretly, Charlie could be rubbing off on him a bit more than he would like and that we could probably see some very interesting stuff happen with his character in the future. After all, redemption seems to be a major theme in this show and I think Alastor might wind up being Charlie’s biggest redemption challenge, kind of being a big overarching thing throughout the series. But we’ll have to wait and see. (Also, I’m just so happy and relieved to see an ace character, it means a lot to me as an ace person since we aren’t represented enough. 🖤🩶🤍💜)

Not everyone changes at the same rate. Sometimes it takes longer or goes down a different path. Like, Angel's is really visible and straightforward, but Husk's is slightly more nuanced. Even though they're both about trust and letting people in and caring for others.

Been a broken record about this but man I'm hoping we get character development for Adam either by late season 2 or season 3. It makes zero sense to have a guy THAT crucial to the Eden story get snuffed out for literally nothing that early unless it's part of him going through a redemption arc of his own.
