imo NONE of the vees are normal 😭😭 First, Velvette made a potion thing to hypnotize (?) people to make em horny. Hence the name Love Potion.(Also, some random dude bought it and poured it into angel's drink in episode 4.) Vox? Made a drone to peek on your neighbors doing stuff. Valentino? No words. We all know what he does🥰🥰
@yesikanarvaez5027 Agreed, I'm willing to bet if Carmilla didn't interrupt Vel, Zestial was a blink and a hand gesture away from turning her into a replica of the angel head in front of them lmao
I think she's the only character that willfully changes their clothes (not counting the hotel's war costumes obviously, or Vox removing his suit jacket in the last episode, because the rest of his outfit doesn't change)
"I could eat you all for breakfast😈" The nerve to make this statement infront of 2 cannibal overlords (Rosie and Alastor)💀💀 Edit: Don't you dare start a fucking fight about this (Alastor being considered a cannibal overlord) being true or not, it's just a comment))
I will never understand how my two favourite characters are vel and Charlie, literally two opposites, but velvette just slays so much and who wouldn’t love Charlie
Velvet is the perfect "young buck with everything to prove and no desire to hear it" type. She very clearly feels justified in her attitude about the fact an angel is dead but the 'fossile' is right, it can be killed, but none of them know how it happened (yes carmine knows but none of them are aware except velvette w ho isn't even sure but she's so confident in her assertion that she believes she knows)
Exactly. Zestrial was right. They didn't have anywhere near enough info. And I wouldn't trust the Vees anyways if I was an overlord. They could have been setting them all up to get killed so they can take over.
@@babe6835 But she can't be 100% sure she was right, she can be confident sure but there's a good chance she was wrong but she has 0 doubt in her mind, for all she knows it was an internal fight that Carmilla saw. Just cause she Was right, doesn't mean her behavior is right.
@@KenshiImmortalWolfand in the end, she was still right. her methods led her to that conclusion. you just want someone to pussyfoot around old camilla, but that aint velvette.
i actually love the way they portrayed velette in the overlords meeting like she perfectly embodies a lot of the ppl in the younger generations since shes the youngest overlord (before i go on id like to say im IN the younger generation) because like, nothing she says really has much solid ground to stand on but she also knows just what to say to get under everyones skin and pull out information from people that dont like her because she knows exactly what buttons to press
That is the literal definition of trolling. I actually don't get the appeal to Velvet. She is cocky, immature, and performs to an imaginary audience. People who vocalize "hashtag" don't generally come across like they're commanding the room. In a show full of dozens of powerful female characters, I found Velvet to be far more melodramatic, toxic, insecure an immature. As opposed to the wise and reasoned confidence of say Carmilla, Rosie, or Sarah...who all embody "Girl Boss" as well. She seems like she's written more as a warning to Gen Z of how easily someone with high social skills can use those powers to be a troll, rather than to motivate those around her in a more positive way.
@@alyxander8420 i never claimed to be a velvette apologist, i dont love her overly but i like her design and her singing and shes funny sometimes but also she wasnt meant to be overly powerful the show did a good job at portraying her as the youngest and weakest overlord who's words dont carry much weight in a room the only time she has power is when shes working and all of her employees are simply scared of her and the other Vee's but also, it's hell, characters who try to motivate characters in a positive way are understandably the vast minority, the characters are going to morally suck thats the entire point tldr, shes meant to be melodramatic, immature, cocky and toxic, thats her entire point, she runs social media and is also the youngest and weakest of the overlords, her appeal is that she sucks as a person but has a nice design i see ur point since u do have a valid one, but at the same time her shitty characteristics are the entire point to her character ykwim?
@@sh4tt3r3dw1ngs Of course. I was actually agreeing with your take because it was in the minority, by not just being a "Slay Queen..." response to her character. And I'm not even sure that she's meant to be that week. She's clearly the most powerful of the three villains who have had the recent rise in hell. And I like a charismatic, comedic villain as much as the next person. Velvet is perfect for that roll. I just get cautious about using the term "Girl Boss" so easily (in a seemingly admirable manner) to refer to her, because I find that to be an overwhelmingly positive characterization in most instances. Simply being abrasive and a powerful female alone are not enough to merit praise. Even a casual glance of current events shows that female leaders can implement sexist legislation, commit war crimes, jail nonviolent drug offenders, and uphold the patriarchy just as effectively as males can. I do feel like the villains in this show are very strong characters, that each highlight a personality trait taken to excess.
@@alyxander8420 no exactly ur completely right though, something i also see sometimes, albeit less than the opposite end of the spectrum, is that 'girl boss' is also sometimes used for strong (strong in the sense of hardheaded tendencies and abrasive behavior) unapologetically problematic characters (especially when being paired with the gaslight and gatekeep parts of the entire phrase) so calling her a girl boss in THAT sense, there is some appeal to her with fans and i recognize that
@@Chloerian98 Really?! Then I hope that Velvette will turn out to be a bigger threat than we thought. I mean, her source are trends and social media. Also, my theory is that she also receives power through rumours. Like, more infamous she is, more powerful she becomes. That way she would be THE influencer demon. As long as there are people out there who spread rumours or create trends she will become stronger and more powerful. The sentence "I could eat you all for breakfast." could then turn out to be a try to intimidate the Overlords so that they would give her automatically strenght too. Then all this big talk would turn out to be a main weapon of her. I think that would be cool and fitting to her.
My absolute favorite part of velvette's character design is the fact that since she is a fashion manager and star, she is always wearing a different outfit everytime we see her. It's fantastic
Fun fact her voice actress's is in SIX THE MUSICAL as the first wife beheaded and singer of "Sorry not Sorry don't lose your head" which was a fast tictok.
Also, if you're getting Steven Universe "Other Friends" vibes during the song fight of Alistor and Lucifer, it's because Mimzys va is Spinel Aka the gem who sings Other Friends.
I love Velvette so much. She's such a cunning dumbass. Smart enough to figure out that Carmilla killed the exorcist in less than a minute but still so dumb having literally no plan or forethought to go with it. Despite appearing to have the braincell of the Vees, it truly pings between them like a pinball machine
@@nuclearcatbaby1131 Oh noo, Alastor would hate her so much. My guy does not respect anyone else, especially someone claiming to be more powerful/influential than him
"This is fine, this is totally normal! Dont worry about my sanity while watching this go down, I'm totally not dying inside because of this motherfu-" -Probably whats going through Alastors head
We need more velvette fans in this fandom, I went to GalaxyCon Richmond, and out of all the Hazbin cosplayers, I saw NO ONE dressed as Velvette She's too iconic to be overlooked
Velvette is one of my favorite of the Vees and characters, while she didn’t get a lot of screen time, she did leave a great impression on us and I’m excited to see more of her in season 2.💜
"Burn it like the witches who wore it," "Flat-faced prince," and "Take care of the pissbaby" are easily some of my fav lines from Velvette, but to be fair, all her lines are my favs, she's one of my top 3, along with Lute and Luci❤
Lilli Cooper ate the track up and asked for seconds. She gives Velvette life I swear. Best performance between either series. And she's not even British! She's speaking and rapping in a foreign accent! Amazing voice actress.
Velvette is one of my favorite characters too! In fact I think she's the only member of the Vees to be mature and I love her fashion sense and she even changed her hairstyle once in awhile. Also the way she sang Respectless is amazing!😁😈💖📱
@rainbowtoyfunrandomess1982 how is angering the oldest and most powerful overlords in hell smart especially one that deal in angelic arms, yknow the one thing that can perma kill you also ed being a pimp?
Something I've never understood about velvet is how transformative and malleable her hair is like it's in this pixie cut one day and it's in these enormous pigtails the next makes you wonder how much hair does velvet truly have before she brushes it
“She’s innocent, she does no wrong, and yet there’s people out there who don’t like Velvette, and it just like really irritates me, if I ever meet somebody who says they don’t like Velvette I distance myself away from them because something is not right”
She did look a lot more peppy with the V's then for sure but I keep thinking now: what if it was a trendy look with that type of energy at the time to get attention socially (because shes the social media V)?? What if that was what that look was for at the time?
@@janelle57759 the three Vs control the main types of social media entertainment, trends, and 18+ for so forward. And Yes Velvet does change her outfit to create new trendy clothes and because she looks good in every single outfit she wears.
The more I see of them the more I get convinced that the only one who actually does respect her is Zestiel and neither Vox nor Valentino can understand just how screwed they are without her. As opposed to Vox and Valentino Velvette has the wherewithal to just disengage when she realises that fighting is useless which is the reason she switched from trying to antagonize Zestiel to Carmilla. She knew instantly what Zestiel was doing, that despite him being "the old man" he was matching her beat and tune flawlessly so, she gave up in frustration. Zestiel instantly read her as well since the messages in the background when she says she's the backbone are all notifications and between the inane blabber there's real intelligence. So, when he says that they need more intelligence he instantly checkmates her since if she argues against that she'll argue for something she should know and if she disagrees she'll make her she'll argue against her own role. Instead of, arguing she does the only correct thing at the moment and refuses to play. I got mad respect for that as while she was trying to bait him, instead of, biting he threw the bait right back to her so she had to make the choice.
I wonder if she knew carmine killed the exorcist the whole time and maybe she knew angelic weapons killed them. She knows carmine was nervous when she brought out the head so it is likely that after the meeting she knew everything.
When you think about it. Velvette ended up being right all along by the end of the season. I wonder if that’ll be acknowledged. Perhaps Velvette will use it as a way of boosting her position as an overlord by holding it over Carmilla’s head. In a bragging “Look who’s the smart one now” sort of way.
