Dr. Giuseppina Benincasa-Feingold, pediatrician and emergency room physician, became a hyperbaric medicine specialist after her daughter was born with profound brain damage. She explains in layman’s terms, how HBOT works, differences between hard and soft chambers, side effects and risks. Dr. Feingold advocates for HBOT’s use, under a physician’s supervision, as treatment for a range of congenital and acquired brain injuries. HBOT is one of the safe alternative therapies that we at the BART Foundation believe may result in better outcomes for brain injury survivors.
With alternative therapies, as with mainstream approaches, there is always an element of chance, luck, and randomness. What works brilliantly for one survivor, may not work for another, and we may never know why. All one can do is try one’s best, and hope to be lucky.

Well done video. I will try it. I've done Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, and Scrambler machine treatment - all have intially helped but then my brain 'goes back' to it's normal state. I almost drowned at a toddler - but didn't connect my lifelong brain issues to this near-drowning until age 58. Like she said, and I'm paraphrasing, 'Why didn't I know about this earlier to help my daughter?" Something is wrong with medicine in a core, general, overall sense.

I have been looking into the soft chamber and it seemed like it was not worth the try, because the hard chambers have more documented results but after this video, which was done so well and very informative, I think it is worth a try for someone that suffered from an anoxic brain injury.. there are no hard chambers available near me unless in a hospital setting and they refuse off-label therapy.

Unfortunately, the brain injury has caused financial hardship. As a result, I cannot afford this treatment or any alternative therapy. This is bs for most of us.

DR Feingold, have you had experience treating TBI caused by a gunshot? Would you still recommend treatment if there is shrapnel and pieces of skull remaining in the brain?

We are hosting this video of Dr. Benincassa-Feingold, which we produced with her participation and consent. She does not actively monitor this posting. Our anecdotal impression is that HBOT has been used successfully after gunshot wounds to head, though one must consult with attending physician in each case to be certain there are no contraindications. Many wounded vets have been treated with HBOT. The best resource in that area is Treatnow.org. Here is a link: treatnow.org/treatments/treatment-centers/ Best of luck friend.

When I was 8, I was stoned by a 13 year old knocked me out, and I'm still having problems thinking and acting. Would this help me?

No guarantees, of course. But Joe Namath and other NFL players claim it helped them decades post-injury.

@@bart-foundation my daughter with a grade 4 + brain bleed at birth ( she as a VAD and a shunt) diagnosed with CP and Right side hemiplegia. I was told she would never walk or talk, she is 17 now and is like a normal teenager -- IM ready to start HBOT to get her to get her right hand to open up and her right ankle to loosen up. She started having seizures 5 yrs ago due to a chemical spill at age 6 and another contamination of uranium in our ground water. Its been a nightmare. Do yo think HBOT would make her have seizures at 1.5 atmospheric pressure or 2??
