Love this game to death! I actually used it in an essay in Uni to discuss the evolving state of videogames (and other entertainment media) suggesting they could definitely get a spot in a school media studies curriculum. You nail the review on it. Tons of elements that tie together so nicely. I only tried the online multiplayer a little bit, but it was pretty solid, and would definitely be worth my time with the larger install base the switch has.
That is a paper that predicted the future tho. I fully believe one day there will be college classes on story elements in games. Tysm for your kind words and watching! If it ever comes to switch we need to team up my friend!

Interesting 🤔 Haven't tried this but seen The Last Story in my game hunts. Nice graphics thou 👍 cutscenes and character designs were really well done. Btw, LOVED that Jumpei cap 🧢 you got there 😊
Nice review! It's been a while since I last played this game, but the memories came flooding back! It's a shame it got kind of overshadowed by Xenoblade Chronicles, it really is a good time. I agree, a remaster on the Switch would be well deserved.
I’m so happy you could have some good nostalgic memories watching. I wish so bad I had played this game back in the day but I was knee deep in mmo rpgs at the time and missed out on a lot. Hope we get a remaster tho!
@mushy Yes, the controls do take a little getting used to. I liked it much more once I turned off auto-attacking and actually had control over what I attacked and when.

I got this game for 20$ back at Game stop years ago. I remember seeing the Box art and I just fell in love with it. And I looked at it and it said from the crater Final Fantasy in the music of Final Fantasy and that sold me instantly. This game is beautiful. The music,the characters and the story. Of course The Last story is a title similar to Final Fantasy. It's The Last and Final Fantasy Story.
Great video! Just recently restarted a new game on my wii u and this game has always had a deep place in my heart! I also want an hd port where maybe new people can get a chance to play it!
Long shit but I’d love to see my absolute favorite Wii game get ported to the switch with updated controls... Fragile Dreams. I know it used the wii motes for gimmicky motion controls but I thinks it could be done. The game is an absolute gem.
I'll travel for work next august, exactly for a month. Whenever I travel for work, I take my Wii with me (there's this beautiful 70inch tv at the Airbnb I stay) and this time I'd like to play an RPG. I own the three Rainfall games and I think I'll be playing Last Story while I'm away. Haven't played any of the three yet, but it seems to me that Xenoblade is too long and dense for just a month. And Pandora's Tower, well, I've heard about a game breaking big that makes it impossible to finish. I hope I can finish Last Story in a month !!
I loved this game so much. I vaguely recall that ng+ is broken because I got to a point where the leveling was unbalanced and a boss was obliterating my party, but there was nowhere to retreat to to level up. I should just delete my save at this point it's been long enough!
I bought Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii U's Nintendo eShop and I got so hooked to it that I even got worried. I don't remember why but I didn't finish it and I regret it sometimes. Then, some time later, I got Pandora's Tower, also from Wii U's eShop, and oh, boy... I destroyed that game, it was absolutelly wonderful, and I keep my memories with it like rare gold. THEN, I remembered that, when the Wii was about to have a sucesor, I jailbreaked it (or hacked, I don't know the term, but I mean free games from the Internet) and somehow I learned about The Last Story. I didn't get to play it even a little since my Wii betrayed me and decided to commit suicide when I was playing probably my favourite game on the Wii 🤣🤣. But the thing is, despite the few hours I played it, out from the 3 big RPGs on the Wii (xenoblade, pandora's tower and The Last Story), TLS would be my favourite. I got very upset when I didn't find it on the Wii U's eShop. My only memory of the game is finding a weapon (it was that gardening tool that Death itself uses as a weapon, I don't remember the name, sorry) and reading in its description it had a little chance of instakilling an enemy, and I found it very satisfying. If you get the chance to play this game, DO IT.

The Last Story is a really good game. It's the Wii remote that I dislike about the Wii console. I hope they port this game on another console. I always prefer a hand held gaming controller with buttons over the Wii remote. The Wii remote always used to frustrated me while playing that console.
