I've used hollows sence the 80s and life knife .explorer. 1 and 2 .techa 1 .bianchi timberline all made blades I seen go .where most wouldn't and came back one piece .and you made lile .Bob parish great blades
Hollow handle knives got a really bad rap they never recovered from in the 80s. Which is weird, because you did have functional ones back then like the BuckMaster, Lile, Randall, and some of the nicer Japanese imports ect.
Christmas 1969 Every kid in the trailer park (maybe 20 kids including me) got one of these 'kinds' of knives. Not 1 survived to see Easter. The war in Viet Nam was raging, Vets (fathers) were returning home with all kinds of G.I. gear, web belts, canteens, pouches, helmets, actual G.I. issued "stuff" including the actually issued "pilot survival knife" (20 years pre-Rambo). Apparently lots of dads were helicopter pilots and were issued these kinds of knives. They were junk. They have always been junk. They are STILL junk. Even the $15 one at Harbor Freight, while LOOKING big and scary, is JUNK! I'd rather have a $25 Machete to process bushes and pole trees than an overprice nonsense knife. Grampa said 'Use the correct tool for the job'...
I think people are far too caught up in where a knife is made, who made etc. For 20 years, I used cheap Chinese knives and they worked just fine. Better than blokes with no knife. Only recently, I’ve been lucky enough to get some ‘nice’ knives. I still have my old ones and there’s nothing wrong with them. I’ve NEVER broken a knife in use.
Bellissimo! Iconico 🙌🏻 Però l'originale sulla parte superiore seghettata (serrated) ha 14 denti, ho controllato dappertutto 👀 Quello che fai vedere nel video ha 12 denti.
Awesome Dude! I didn’t know vanilla ice was doin’ Knife reviews now! 😂 I’m jk, nice knife. I have a Randall Model 18 survivor model, serrated on top. Works well for me. Although it’s a smooth grip, and I need to Wrap it in something like oaracord.
@@DonnieBAllDay 😂. That’s awesome, I knew my comment coulda gone either way, (although I personally think Vanilla ice is still awesome, lol). but you took it like champ! Nice to see somebody on the net’. that still has a sense of humor, not just offended about everything! 👍👍
Hey Bro! It’s always awesome to see a Rambo blade in action! My current favorites are my OEF Defender, and my John J Tribute that you designed. Thank you for all the cool videos and the cool designs at KHHI!
I totally get the strength of pinned threads as an engineer. A threaded connection is super strong! The handle looks like it would spin in your hands because it is completely round but I didn't see that at all while you were using it. Is that because of the grip you get from that wire wrap?
I gotta say what did it for me brotha was crocodile dundee . If you get a chance brotha maybe if you could do a vs with the case bowie and the crocodile dundee bowie🙏
Personally, I would not call them knife snobs, I would call them sheople who follow an "expert" and believe all they are told right or wrong with no PERSONAL experience with the item they are expressing an opinion on. So, sheople, or idiots, or sycophants, fools, clowns, trolls, take your pick.
From what I remember . On your knife you are holding. There is a pin their. Or Allen key . Unscrew it.and you will see. Great video. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts. Mine has the sharping stone the standard one oh ya it's nice. But their expensive. And went up in price good thing I got two of them. One for each hand. Or back up. Still in the box . And the other one is not to far away when I sleep. Have better dreams you know. Ask Dad about the liel one he said don't tell me you would spend $2500 for a knife. So I didn't and wished I have. Maybe one day.oh ya you really put it to the test this time around. Great job.
The rambo knife is designed for close range combat or cutting stuff, not hitting stuff like a hammer, or shooting bullet at the knife. Right tools for the right jobs
Hey Donnie, could you do a video or videos on the victorinox paring knife, victorinox curved fruit knife, and the pioneer woman paring knife for self defense? I’ve been carrying the curved fruit knife for about a week and it’s surprisingly useful for edc. I also have a pioneer woman that I’m waiting on the sheath for.
I have the other one from HCG with the sharpener and pouch in the sheath (really wish they had made that more accurate to the movie...). It's been years since I looked at it, but I could swear I noticed a pin through the tang. I know I had the cord wrap off at one point for some reason and I think I noticed it then, but I don't want to undo it again. Correct me if I'm wrong and you know for sure it is just screwed on. By the way, I got my Rambo 1 and 2 knives thanks to your videos showing their quality. Now I'm thinking of getting another Rambo 2 knife because HCG has one with the sharpening rod and I like mine to be as accurate as possible, though it is a brass handle rod and not black like the film and the end cap is still not black. I wonder if those kinds of differences are contractual even though they are licensed.
Cool to see you could and can use them instead of just placing them for show. It never sets right with me having a tool just for show. I want them to at least be able to work if I needed them to. Same reason I won't have a gun without bullets for it even my 1876 break top Smith and Wesson. Yes 32 black powder shorts are weak and since it has been in the family nearly 150 years it is my last choice to use, however, if I needed to I could. Thanks Dbad.
Those hollow handle tube grips are light weight but make the knife feel blade heavy to me. I fill the grip with a roll of coins like nickels and it feels better. Try it out.
If you are braking knives trimming your toenails, you need to see a doctor. Then you should call the Guinness book of world records. Just saying.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got the newer version of the Hollywood collectibles and I threw some epoxy in there. I have been batoning and doing some shopping with no problems. Nothing coming loose or breaking so far. Its only been over a month but so far so good.
I loved my Rambo knife. And I even took my "cheapy" knife out to the everglades, boar hunts and such, FORTY YEARS ago! I lost it on one of those excursions... Ruined my day! Maybe it's time to get another...
One of these days, you should get one of those ultra high end Rambo knives from the Jimmy Lile company (assuming you don’t have one already). They’re expensive but I own a Rambo 2 and it’s a beautiful, beautiful knife. Granted, I could only afford it due to severance pay from being laid off my previous job combined with the sign on bonus from my new job. lol
@@DonnieBAllDay Nice. Never heard of his work. Any videos or a website? Been wanting a handmade exact replica of the Rambo 3 and Heartstopper knife as well, but neither Gil Hibben nor Pohl Force have those in stock at the moment.
@@watchreport Go to my dbad Commando Knife by the khukuri house vid. He's in the comments under Joe M. He's the only guy in the world with the original Grain templates. Comment to him under his comment. He was only making for big time collectors so looking him up by Joe Melanson will get you nowhere. He's now making knives full time.
I filled both my Rambo 1 and Rambo 2 with JB Weld epoxy all the way to the compass threads it’s good to know that is the right thing to do to make them more solid
@Donnie B All Day Great video, I'm a huge fan of Rambo Knives, but barely anyone ever reviews them online because they're mostly written off as a silly Hollywood novelty these days. You should check out the Rothco Ramster Survival Knife, it's a Taiwanese clone of the old Buckmaster 184 which costs less than $50, yet seems to be of pretty high quality. I'd love to see you do a review of the Ramster somewhere down the line.
I have this on the way to NY. My only regret is I got the signature version so I may buy another without the signature. Great video and makes me feel much better about my purchase. I only wish Stallone had an endorsement for it, like with the Last Blood knife.
I just received mine from Neptunne Shop which came from China and their site advertises this with the movie-accurate 14 saw teeth and my version has only 12 teeth and is a limited Signature Edition. I also ordered the Last Blood knife from them and received a knock-off smaller version and not the Sylvester Stallone officially endorsed version. Both these knives are nice but I want movie accuracy which is why I'm collecting. I'm more furious at the deceptive/false advertising on that site and have written them for a refund or return or both just on merit. @DonnieBAllDay
@DonnieBAllDay First Blood knife is no knock off, it is numbered out of 10,000 with a COA from Hollywood Collectibles. The deal with that was for a time the replicas were made with 12 teeth. They eventually got updated to the 14 teeth to be more accurate and so I received an older version but not what was advertised. The teeth actually have story significance as they represent people from Rambo's team or in the past. It is still a beautiful knife, don't get me wrong. As for the Heartstopper, definitely some knock off from a lesser known company. Again, a nice knife, but I now own the Stallone-endorsed version in his video and it's a night and day difference. Size, weight, etc. That one is modeled directly off of the movie prop from Stallone's personal collection. But Neptunne Shop shows their knife as the Stallone version. The $80 price tag is for a reason.
The best Rambo knives are made by Daniele Mauro, Steve Viau for usability and accuracy. Marcos Bluneri makes very usable Movie knives too. Hcg and UC arenot for using just a collector peice. Andy Wood and Vaun Neeley make very accurate knives that are usable but not quite as durable as Daniele Mauro, Steve Viau and Marcos Bluneri. I have the Hcg and in hand it feels like it shouldnt be used. The Daniele Mauro , Steve Viau and Bluneri knives I own all feel super strong . The Bluneri isnt hollow handle so you can have a very beautiful Rambo knife that isnt hollow handle. Greg Wall knives are very good usable movie knives too. I have 3 of his knives and the are made thicker and stronger than Hcg
@@DonnieBAllDay I should've said heavy use. The Hcg mission knife gets loose with heavy use even quicker than the First blood. I still love them, a great part of the collection
