I'm just back from one of the most difficult approach I've flown so far. Thunderstorms all around, St Elmo fire (google it if you want to see what it's like, electric arcs across the windshield), hail and heavy rain, I flew the approach manually and made a smooth landing despite the strong crosswind. Believe me, there is nothing more rewarding than to fly a nice approach in those conditions, this is just an awesome feeling and it made my day! I hope you guys will get to experience this someday!
I remember finding this video a few years ago during my pilot studies and watching it over and over again whenever I felt the need for a motivational boost especially during the theoretical studies. Now coming back to this video and remembering those endless days and nights in front of my book really brings a smile to my face :) Within the last year I have finished flight school, successfully completed a recruitment process, passed the TR and also just a few weeks back successfully passed my Line Flying Check. Something that felt really distant to me the last time I saw this video is now my everyday reality and I truly and honestly can say it is all worth it! I am living my dream at the age of just 22! Never quit dreaming, never stop. Always chase your passion no matter what! You WILL succeed and it is never too late!
Years and years ago, i was a pilot with a commercial licence looking and searching for a job anywhere in the world without success. The search was going on for 5 years. I had a very boring office job at the time that was killing me....and during that time it was your videos that kept me motivated. Ofcourse my boss wasnt very happy catching me on youtube playing this vid everyday but i didnt care :) its what kept me going back then... Today i am a line check short or 4 stripes on A320, expecting to be released in the next few days. I just want you to know that you had an influence in my life and im sure im not the only one... And for that i am greatful to you. Thank you :)
I have to agree with you there mate, I have been watching this amazing video from when I was young, now couple of years down the line, I have passed my ATPL course and like yourself I am doing my type rate on the Airbus A320 Family for a well know airline in UK/Europe. Thanks and good luck with your '4 stripes' :)
I've watched this video at least, 50 times ans I will keep on watching it. It's amazing and when you realize about the majestic natural shows, you think you're nothing compared with this beautiful world. I love aviation I would be the happiest person in the whole world if someday I could be up there. Congratulations for all the air professional workers!!!
You just made my day. Thanks for sharing the awesome beauty of sight and sound we so often take for granted. Keep up the great work both in and out of the cockpit!
That motivates me to make more videos, thanks a lot for your comment! Alright then, I'll try to make a new one this week, I have plenty of video footage, stay tuned!
Anybody that thumbs down this video or any of the other videos from this guy has some serious jealousy issues to deal with. Absolutely amazing recordings, and i am totally envious!
Gorgeous!! Real aircraft! and I was STUCK IN WHAT SEEMS TO BE PERPETUAL MISERY flying a BUS for 5 years. Those flying 737s should never take it for granted. And should remember they could be flying a bus instead of an aircraft
I just logged in to say that this the most wonderful video i have seen in my entire life since i was born, this video shows the beauty of the planet we live on, combined with knowledge and technology we have been developing since we first took off to the skies, and to take my hat off to those men that make this possible, from designing to the testing of these beautiful machines. Thank you so much!
G/S in white and smaller prints means the mode is armed but not yet activated. When it becomes green, it is activated and the green box around it stays on for 10 seconds. The AP won't allow to capture the G/S before the LOC. Just before capturing, we were in LVL CHG (pitch for speed and thrust to idle). A/T mode is "ARM" (you can move it freely but by default it's in idle) and vertical mode is MCP Speed, the higher the speed the higher the descent rate as it pitches down to catch the MCP speed.
@golfcharlie232 My friend, thanks for this excellent video! Really wonderfull... and I agree with you, I'm just finishing my comercial pilot curse here in Brazil, and many people already told me to give up, but I keep my faith until the end. Thank you again for sharing with us this beautifull piece of art!
Just Art, Poetry..I am a B737NG pilot and Aerospace Engineer like you aswell. I think to fully understand all your points of view. When people were trying to demotivate me, I was always thinking to the Power of the Dream. If I managed to keep going against negative thoughts and fear is also because of videos like yours. It is not just pure Art but... The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Thank you GolfCharlie232 for the message you transmit with this...
UN RÊVE PRESQUE UNE REALITE: Quelques gestes, quelques émotions dans le cockpit...de nuit de jour, en l'air, au sol, par beau temps, ou mauvais temps ! Mais toujours aussi passionnant!
During autolands, the Captain has its hands on the controls and looks outside the whole time, the First Officer checks all the instruments, ILS, Speed, altitude and if anything is not within certain tight limits they initiate a go-around. During the flare, the Captain follows the plane on the controls and if doesn't like what the autopilot is doing, he can still disconnect at anytime or force the controls (i.e. pull back the power to idle or add a few %N1).
WOW!! Just AMAZING this makes me feel like there is only one BEAUTIFUL career and thats being a PILOT of a Boeing 737! Thanks for the Video + the music 100%
This is truely amazing!!!!! The soundtrack captures the moments. Nice Job. Looking forward to making my own videos when I get into the cockpit of an airliner.
This is a great visual perspective, Much appreciated from a Flight Simmer who fly's for Alaska Virtual Airlines. This is an inspiration to me. Thank you to those that put this together
Wow... Very nice video. We are getting our displays updated at UAL to the full version right now. Haven't flown one yet, but really looking forward to the change. Great footage! I was most impressed with the landings, as whoever is flying is doing a great job of not shifting that aimpoint too soon and drifting high on the VASIs... Great video! Thanks!
The power of youtube! That video puts hollywood productions with multimillion dollar budgets to shame. Awesome video. Just what I needed to escape the day!
Well, lets put it like this, my last autoland during a CAT III approach was 3 months ago, and the previous one was another 3 months before that. All the other landings were "manual", usually disconnecting the autopilot between 1000ft and FL200, depending on how busy things get in the flightdeck.
Beautiful compilation. You've captured some sequences that help show what professional pilots live every day. This kind of video is to commercial aviation what the movie Top Gun was to flying fighters. Très bien fait!
Simply amazing, i just got my degree in Aircraft Engineering and will be back next year for the Hons but the longer I am on this course the more often I look up... and want to fly one of these marvels
i came so close to choosing commercial aviation as a career (life long pilot), and at the last minute committed to a business degree. Videos like this make me seriously second guess my decision (more).
Love the videos. It's comforting to know that there are guys like this out there that simply love what they do. You can fly my family and I anywhere brother.
2:50 is awesome! I practice foggy night time landing with flight simulator using the radio navigation system. It's a fun challenge and awesome when you break out of the clouds at 100 ft with the runway lite up right in front of you.
Ta vidéo donnerait envie à n'importe quel gamin de faire pilote de ligne... Franchement bravo, le montage est bien, on s'ennuie pas, les musiques bien choisies ! Continue, fous nous-en plein la vue encore !!! :-)
One of the best videos I've ever seen... I wish one day, I'll be flying up there.... That's the only thing I wish.... But life, sometimes, treats us with such an unfair way... Greetings to all pilots and have nice flights...
This video is such a good motivation... for every one that ones to be a pilot, just love everything about it... and good job on pursuing the piloting, im finishing my PPL licence and then the ATPL in this fall so hope i can be flying in 2015 :) since i discoverd this video i have watched repeadly and studied in the background! love it ! (sorry for bad engish)
Unique airplane.....just beautiful ! I flew it a lot in a sim and its so awesome. Best commercial I've ever seen for short-medium range routes. if ain't boeing ain't going ;)
This is a beautiful video, thanks for taking the time to produce it! To all of those teenagers lubricating with this video and wanting to become a pilot now, please bear in mind that real life is NOT a constant change of shots with a beautiful and inspiring music in the background. Becoming a pilot is difficult, working conditions are harder every day, salaries are getting lower and lower.... and the future ain't promising either Be smart and go to college! Then do a PPL and fly for pleasure
When I look at your videos they make me think of these words;''Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” and also about these "All men dream: but not equally... the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” I do like your videos, they remind me of the most wonderful time in my life.
Thank you for these videos you shoot. I am in flight training now , and any time I feel like Im buried in books and paperwork , or the weather grounds my flights (which are the highlight of my days) , or anytime I feel like it might not be worth all the work I put into my flying ,I watch your vids and the ones other pilots put up in the down time. They remind me what all the work is for . It really helps me keep the goal in mind when you see the prize (of a life spent flying) every day on the internet. It helps me keep in mind that some day my efforts will pay me back overwhelmingly , because it wont just be a great youtube video on the internet it will be my life. Thanks a lot
I've learned quite a bit about aviation since my first flight in a Cessna 150 (I had flown numerous times before, and had a slight interest in aviation, but that was all on Commercial Airliners) I, admittedly still have a LOT to learn
Just the kind of motivation every student pilot needs ! Im currently about to start my IR...watching this makes all the work worth it :) Amazing video...Waiting on the next one :) Good luck
Sure! Dead band is the fact that when you rotate during take-off (you're looking for 15° up, initially), the aircraft stops at 8° (when the tail is close to the ground). You have to double the force on the yoke to continue to lift it up. On landing with flaps 30, the aircraft is not incredibly different from NGX but with flaps 40, the real aircraft just dive as soon as you reduce power. Also, on the real aircraft, you need about 52% N1 on final with Flaps 30, 62% N1 with Flaps 40.
amazing! one day I will be making videos like this. In the meanwhile I study hard and fly 737's on Flight Simulator... Awesome videos, aviation is an art
