Watched this the first time in 2013 when I was 15 years old and it was still a dream. I’ve watched it so many times since then, especially when life was difficult and challenging. Passed my CPL ME IR checkride a week ago. Still can’t really believe it Update: after two years of searching for a job I‘m now flying as a first officer on a private jet. Happiest I’ve ever been
When this video first came out it gave me a ton of motivation. I saved it to my favourites and lost track of how many times I watched it. Today I'm a First Officer on the Airbus A330/350 and couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Just reached 2,000,000 views ! Thanks everyone ! Let's hope it will inspire the future generation of Airline Pilots. A lot more videos to come, subscribe and stay tuned !
+Live from the Flight Deck Amazing video editing skiils , i am 12 years old and it is my dream to be an airline pilot , you just did for me an inspiration with this video , one day i would be like you :)
Yes when you're 25 and single. When you go over 30, are married and have kids, its not that great anymore, missing so many weekends, never being home, missing your kids birthdays and football games etc. It becomes a compromise between qualifying as a pilot or spending time with your family... And its great travelling to places in the beginning but eventually you just want home to your family. Many pilots quit when they get older and go working as an engineer or something like that because of this.
Alex Barnes yes, its really important you love your job, my point is that being a commercial pilot isn't for everyone, but it does seem like a great job though, if you can get past the negative sides i mentioned. ;)
I'm back for my weekly viewing of this video - I love it; Really well edited. I generally like videos with actual audio and more specific detail, but for an amazing montage set to appropriate music, I'll take this one as is!
@@LeCamachoTRK - Cool yeah - this was one of the videos that inspired me to add my voice into the RU-vid Aviation Community. I launched the channel 6 months later in June of 2013.
I gave myself a week watching the video. I was a commercial pilot in the corporate arena and stayed away from applying for the airlines due to all the "away" time. I was fortunate enough to fly for hire and able to get home same day most of the time. To each his own.
@@mattolmstead6150 I would say to anyone who is interested in aviation and wants to fly for a living is to become aware of the realities of the endeavor first, such as 1) Obtaining the licenses and ratings necessary for professional flying is expensive, 2) Getting there takes time. No one cares about your newly obtained pilot certificates, employers want experience. Getting that experience usually means becoming an instructor and taking any kind of flying job you can get to build your flight time and the pay during this period of building your flight experience is often very minimal. 3) When you get there be prepared to work odd hours, being away from home and flying bad weather at times. Your passengers will typically have no idea what IFR, wind shear, convection or airframe icing mean. They just want to get to their destination and expect you to get them there just as if you're driving a car. 4) Always remember critical errors can be fatal and there is that possibility something could happen beyond your control. That inherent risk is always an aspect you assume for choosing a career that is a non 9 to 5, non-desk oriented occupational activity allowing you to fulfill your dreams of traversing the brilliant blue and sometimes gray and cloudy skies unlocking the mysteries of professional flying and traveling to interesting places. As a retired corporate pilot my recollection is having to get to the airport early in the morning before everyone else to get the aircraft ready, flying my passengers to their location and having to sit around for hours (often huge downtime. A smartphone would have been a great asset in those days) waiting on the passengers to return for same day flights and often having to go AFTER the weather for the return flight starts going to crap while you're thinking "why couldn't you guys have been ready an hour ago when the weather was fine?" I' ve talked with many other pro pilots and the consensus is usually that flying stopped being "fun" a long time ago. Yet we still must fly. So, that's my point for anyone thinking they might want to fly professionally. Just "wanting" to be a pilot is not enough. It's something you feel you MUST do. And, I suppose that holds true for many other abstract and possibly tenuous career choices. Yet, above all that, I can't think of anything more challenging and thrilling at the same time than professional aviation.
7years ago, I saw this video with my friends who were flying training. And now I am the F/O of the B737 like you. I have raised my dream of becoming like you from America because of you. Thank you for always. Always fly safely.
i will have to become a pilot In future now im 14 years old Note: Now Im decide to become Developer in Flight Simulator but still make a contribution for Aviation
Im 15 years old now, and i can probely fly a boeing 737-8 now! The reason i can fly a plane now because have started to learn the aircraft and fly the aircraft. Its very easy when you learn it and its not that hard. If you want to become a pilot you should start when you are young like now. Its very hard to be a pilot, many years at school and it cost lots of money. I have a dream to be a Pilot and my freinds beliving in me, and i belive in you. Hahaha sorry for my english im working on that :)) Keep up the hard work buddy!
Rewan Salih woah! I'm also 15, a pilot is my dream job! :) where do you start from? Hehe :) I'm studying for school as well as a little bit of aircraft and aviation. :)
You didn't show the "pathway" to life as pilot though. You know Instructing in trainers for hours on end. The sitting on the ramp engines running for two an half hours awaiting a "flow time" to an airport, 35 mins away. (LAS-LAX) Getting to the layover hotel at exactly the same time as ever restaurant in the local area closes and eating the week old Powerbar from your backpack for dinner. But you know what, it's still worth it. (Some days!)
It's certainly not fun everyday, I can find hundreds of drawbacks to the job. However I make videos because I love the job, not because I hate it. To be fair, most of the points I don't like are related to the airline I fly for, not the job itself. The things you mention are North America specific. There's no such thing as instructing for hours on end in Europe, most people start on heavy turboprops and medium jets straight out of school here (the few who are lucky enough to get a job), we almost never taxi for more than 15min, money is usually decent even in the low cost airlines, moving up the ladder is a lot faster than in the US (upgrade, base transfer, ...) and we spend most nights home with family. I have way more time off than I had with my previous non-flying jobs. Drawbacks? Unhealthy working hours, fatigue, not fun to share the flightdeck with someone you don't get along with for up to 12h, things often don't go as planned (take-off slots, tech and pax issues, delays, weather, ...), time pressure, responsibilities, constantly tested (sim rides, line checks, medical, Safa checks, ...), cost of training and licenses, lack of jobs (over 80% of fully qualified European pilots do NOT get a job), ... Still love the job, but that's just me.
+Kelvin “Qikai” Wang Same here- I am 14 and already doing IFR flights on my sim at home to get used to some of the routes that I imagine I would be flying if I become a pilot .
This is the life im willing/wanting to have, it looks peaceful and somewhat exciting, new countries, and people not to mention beautiful sights and foods
coolice700 just remember, you won't be living the dream of the public 'til over 30(ish.) But if you love flying, You'll be living the dream the moment you're in the cockpit :D
my 4 year old is obsessed with airplanes. I asked him today what he wants to be when he grows up, he said he wants to fly. he asked me if he could fly, and I told him that he can be a pilot. I'm happy that this video was available bc he can actually see what it's like being a pilot flying in the sky 😊
I wish my parents were the same, I'm trying to convince them that flying is safe. But from time to time they keep saying "why don't you choose another job" or "you don't get enough holidays and it's too dangerous".
+Ben Right school requirements in my country. top grades in mathematics and English, superb health and politically correct. And you must pass all the tests with highest character..... the shool wants Superman / einstein types. wish I could be a pilot. but I'm probably certainly not smart and strong enough... lol
+InvisibleHighway i want to be a pilot to but it's very hard, the DLR-Test (Wikipedia) is so fucking hard, but my buddie have a homecockpit like a 737 cockpit in his house :D i flew in this sim idk 250 hours? i can start/fly/land a jet but i must pass through all the tests like DLR, Medical 1, English :D i hope i pass this an then i'm happy with 112.000€ per year :D
I love how many people have seen this video for inspiration to pursue their dreams 10 years ago. I was in school 10 years ago and watched this video as well for inspiration. After becoming an aerospace engineer, I am finally where I wanted to be.. A pilot on the A320. I wish all the people out there all their best in pursuing their dreams. Don't forget, its never too late and you are never too old!
I am 13 and currently taking flying lessons at my local airport. I want to be an airline pilot when I'm older, but i can't stop thinking if pilots will be replaced by computers by the time I'm 25 or so. Anyone who knows a lot about computers and stuff?
My biggest dream of my life was becoming an airline pilot one day and this video motivated me alot. And today I heard that I got through the pilot selection! I made it! I will start my pilot training in 2 months. My dream becoming a reality, I still can't believe it! Thanks again for the great video, fly safe!
@@timothy.p2338 in most cases you got ask basic physicly things not to complicated. Math is the same just repeat some school stuff and you will be save for the training:) good luck
Hi, i'm 16 years old and it's my dream to become a pilot. Now i'm attending the aeronautic's school and next year i will start the first licence. I hope this dream will become real
I remember still vaguely my first flight in the late 90's out of KBDL to Orlando ... being fascinated with how a pair of men could control such a machine and get my family and I to such a relatively far place so quickly. Anyone else a big fan of watching the reverse thrust mechanism go into action..? I love that and the sound of it.
I'm so glad I am not the only one that watched this video years ago when we dreamt to become a pilot and now we are flying little cessnas to become real pilots. I have watched this videos so many times... Still gives me goosebumps.
I passed 250 hours the other day seen this video in 2014. When times where hard I would always watch this video and remember why I was putting my self through hell
Tyler Earnest I`m like 15 years old and my lifetime wish is to become a pilot at Lufthansa or Lufthansa Crago :D It may be hard but i will try as hard as possible.
watching this video for 7 years, so many time I have watched and specially right now when I am facing challenges against awful time and remorseful life . I don’t know where is my future life 😢. Please wish for me 🙏
Watched this video soooo many times when I was a kid. Here I am now, 20 years of age, attending flightschool with 50 hours and 8 completed ATPL exams under my belt. Working hard towards that MPL and typerating! If you can dream it you can do it!
I first watched this video when I was about 9 about 5 years ago, I’ve kept that dream and now I’m doing flying lessons, Never let go of your dreams ✈️🙂
Hi, I'm a 17 year old ALevel student. My whole life I've wanted to be a pilot, to fly for any airline is the greatest dream of mine, but I have one small problem...... Don't you need a lot of money to become an airline pilot? My budget is tiny, my family is working class and try hard to save but we just cannot afford the extortionate prices to train for an airline pilot... Is there ANY way I can achieve not only my goal but my dream? Can anybody tell me of any scholarships, sponsorships or anything to achieve a pilot with a small budget! Please ~Thomas
Thomas Bowdler nothing is impossible ...try to find a sponsor or if ur home is near to an urban core...try to get a loan...or start saving today.study hard.get a job that somewhat pays well...use savings and loan amt to fund pilot training....keep searching for ways..don't give up...cheers mate
Just take out a loan, that's what I'm doing. My family isn't filthy stinking Donald Trump rich and you'll notice when you get into the industry, nobody else is either. You will need to pay it back and live on a tight budget for a few years while making a lower salary but if you can suck it up and make some sacrifices you'll make it. Besides, who cares if you make a low salary in the beginning? You get paid to FLY. That's pretty rad in and of itself. It's your dream isn't it? It sure as shit beats sitting in an office on a computer or flipping burgers for a living. Keep motivated, think about how great it's going to be in 10 or 15 years when you're flying a 787 making over 250k a year. You can do it, I can do it, anybody can do it. You just gotta have that "I am a fucking boss and this whole planet is my playground" mentality. Best of luck to you.
Find an Airline that has a Cadet pilot programme, the airline will cover you for all the training expenses and once the training is done you must work for them for a few years as a contract and after that you can be promoted to a captain and so on
YRBOY TEN Obviously some things will be different, but for the most part, it's the same thing. It's still just a plane no matter how you break it down. The airline will train you on its procedures and you'll likely earn a type ratings for their specific plane. It's not like you just get hired from flying F-16s and then immediately tossed into a Boeing 737 on your first day at work and then get fired for not knowing how it works.
I feel like I should be a pilot, I just feel like its in me to control such a modern marvel and such a beautiful machine, but my anxiety is so (no pun intended) sky high that I can barely go in a car without thinking its going to crash. Sigh. At least I can always fly in a plane with some anxiety pills :3
IIproductionsII Who knows really. But all I know is, I wont be a pilot. When I'm on a plane, all I do is distract myself, so I cant have myself distracted when flying such a beautiful aircraft. :(
IIproductionsII Oh wow, that was some fantastic advice! I've only been on 4 planes.. From Perth (Australia) to Thailand, then Thailand to Switzerland and then back again. Like a 16 hour flight there and back lol.. So nerve racking ! But yeah, I will see how I go after more plane trips :)
MPTCE Im very interested in air travel/airline/aircraft and i was once want to become a pilot when i was 9, too bad i have to wear glasses so i cant become one :(
Still, after years and watching this (which motivated me to do my best on school again to get my papers which are required) a million times, i still get tears watching it. Aviation is beauty and love.
This year I finish college, and then gonna start the Flight Academy here in Norway...I see the pays are very nice, but what about the work time ? You could end up with some really stupid flights.Anyway it seems very awesome to do that, and the company paying for your food and drinks and all shit while you are away is just killer.Really looking forward to that!
Conex Xenon Most airlines only require a bachelors degree in any subject. You could get a bachelors degree in basket weeving and be qualified by most airlines standards. What they care about is #1: flight experience #2: ratings and #3: how much of a sheep you are. If have enough experience, have the right ratings, and are willing to completely give up all your personal freedoms and bow down to them in every way possible, then they'll hire you.
Well in germany, you need "Abitur" to the "Pilot-Education" the Abitur is equal to 12 years of school on the "gymnasium" path... I m not on that path and will only get a "Fachhochschulreife" Which means you can only study engineering on any college, but not study on a University(medicine, biologie, law, psychology and so on) Only things they offer on a engineering college.... And having Abitur when applying for the Pilot-Education is the requirement.. Also you will have to go throught entry tests first.... So if i would get a bachelors-degree... I would automaticly get the Abitur-degree and Could apply for the Pilot-Education..... depends if i would even get invited and pass the entry tests....
-Manta - Youre 14?! Stop flightsimming go gliding! Its way better to learn flying sure tou can learn how all the systems work in FSX but if you really want to learn flying go gliding it isnt thaaatt expensive
TheLankyPilot I hope you make it there as a pilot but I would not have a loan and I would save because what if you fail? You have to find a job that will help you pay them back and if you don't that's bad news for you.
People just forget how stressful this work could be. But it is COOL ! May be the coolest job for non-celebrities and millionaire. Now imagine how much cooler a fighter jet pilot could be !!
I tend to disagree. I know a ex RAAF f18 pilot who flys the tripple 7 here in Australia.. And he says compared to all the fighter flying he did, constantly pulling Gs, the relaxed flying of the commercial jet is much better. But that's just his opinion!
Well this video is supposed to be inspirational, it is to show how awesome their job is as pilots. It is definitely intended to inspire people, and encourage them to become pilots. If they showed how hard they studied, then it won't really grab attention. If they directly see it is hard, then people won't do it. Of course being a pilot starts of as just hard work, but it pays off!
Great photography,,,,, us old schoolers NEVER used wipers for takeoff and rarely for landing, chances were they didn't work or if they did made things worse. My first flying job we had a DV window in the left corner of the windscreen to open and see out in rain or snow. Those were the days. LOL
Longest flight you'd ever have would be like 13 hours or something, most of the time you have co-pilots and the plane staff check to see if you're hungry etc. It wouldn't be too bad c:
You get paid to travel the world! I can't believe more students would rather become doctors than this, but everyone is entitled to their choices. I'm on my way to getting a B.S in aeronautics with a focus on commercial aviation, can't wait to get my license and eventually be flying these babies!
Aumed Ramadhan I also think that, as a Pilot you get paid to: travel the world, to have the best office in the world, not scheduled timetables of work, you don't have Homework(simulators could be (studying)), and the best is that you feel free, no like a rock in the ground, but better, with this job you can attract girls very easy 😉
@@brunocascardo3327 You don't have homework ? How about meteorology, air regulations, navigation, all the theory behind ? And you have to be pretty desperate to choose your job according to its attractiveness towards girls. Besides, say farewell to your family life.
@@sanantonio855 it depends International Pilots have a Lot of free Time (sometimes a week free) And what i say about the girls was very stupid (i was like a Virgin😂) And yes i know that you have to study a Lot
Im soooo sorry man!!!! Im sure you have found something even better than a pilot!!! btw can u elaborate more on the color problem, like how did u find out, and how was it before u found out...
