This video dedicated to a dead bird at sunset.
11/26/10- Railfanned today at Downtown Burbank Station, Sonora St, and Broadway St. I filmed way more than what you see here, but here are the highlights of the day.
1) Rail-roadkill at Broadway St.
2) Cabcar 609 leads SCAX 900 south with F59PHI 887 and MP36 897 pushing.
3) SCAX 203 departs northbound with 854 and 852 leading.
4) Amtrak 799 flies north with a treat, P42DC #75, which helps Dash8 #507 pull the set northbound with the Not-So-Great-Dome in the consist.
5) After 799 went thru the station, 2 guys were crossing the pedestrian walkway, one with a bicycle and the other, an old man, had a walker. The man with the walker's front wheel got stuck in the groove of the rail, and he fell and hit his head. His head was bleeding, so his friend called the Paramedics. Burbank Fire Engine 11 and Rescue Ambulance 11 responded. You see the engine and RA leaving here, as the man was ok, just needing bandages, and no trains were nearby for anything to happen, because the dispatcher stopped them at the signals.
5) Leo Stallworth of ABC7 Eyewitness News, a regular Metrolink passenger, departs the station in the newsvan for a long day at work.
6) SCAX 800, Metrolink's only F40PH, makes a surprise appearance on SCAX 907, doubleheading with F59PHI 881. I was happy since this was my first time seeing 800 on a train, I've just seen it at the Taylor Yard.
7) Amtrak 768 stops at Downtown Burbank to take in a few passengers, and on the departure, the always awesome Engineer Joe gives a little horn show. Cabcar 6900 and 456 appear on this train.
8) Amtrak 763 heads north, with AMTK 457 leading, and a hilarious engineer waving papers in the window.
9) SCAX 907 deadheads south with a second appearance of SCAX 800.
10) P42's 73 and 74 lead Amtrak 14 north. Since 75 was on 799, I thought it was funny to see 73, 74, 75 in 1 day..
11) UP ES44AC 7895, and SD70M's 4454 and 4398 lead a High Priority Intermodal Freight south.
12) Amtrak 774 blows south with 6908 and 454.
13) Amtrak 769 north with a short 5 car set goes through station.
14) A northbound UP stacktrain with ES44AC 5483, SD70M 4129, and ES44AC 5364(DPU) flies through Burbank.
15) Amtrak 775 with engineer Nancy crawls through Sonora St, as it prepares to stop at CP Allen to wait for SCAX 216.
16) SCAX 216 South, MP36 892.
17) SCAX 909 North, F59PHI 880.
18) SCAX 116 South, MP36 899.
19) SCAX 904 South, F59PHI 880. @ Broadway St. in Glendale
20) SCAX 908 DH North, MP36 902.
21) SCAX 213 North, F59PHI 884.
22) SCAX 906 South, F59PH 865. The train hit the detector at track speed, 79 MPH :D
23) SCAX 911 North and Amtrak 784 South almost meet at Broadway, 896 on 911, and 457 on 784, as the engineer waves the papers again.
