I absolutely love this song. This song is wasted on those who think there is only one explanation. Personally, I never felt like this song was about the older sister feeling jealousy toward her younger sister but rather tries to protect her from falling into the same life she has. A life where she no longer feels the happiness and innocence and has to pretend that everything is all right with her true feelings caked with a mask of makeup. BEG is the only girl group that can make me think.
This song has always been amazing and it's honestly sad how it's never really got any recognition. I have a lot of memories with this song and it's so beautiful
I'm speechless, probably one of the best and most meaningful ballads I've ever heard. BEG truly are incredibly talanted artists. I've never been a fan of girl-groups, most of them act according to what people want them to and their "omo, so cute" expressions seem fake/forced. But BEG.. I just don't have the word to describe how much those 4 women inspire me.
The video is DEEP. Honestly, I LOVE Brown Eyed Girls..I'd say they're one of the fiercest groups out there supported with AMAZING vocals! This song is really great... There's a kind of quiet desperation to it.. and the breathiness and phrasing of it just makes this a piece of haunting perfection.
The younger sister felt lonely so she wanted to be with her sister at night but she touched wrong person (the husband of the elder sis), the scene the girl in the closet means that she doesn't care about the man but wanted to be feel the scent of her sister (she didn't pick the man clothes but her sister one). But the elderly sis misunderstood everything and thought that her sis love her husband. When she saw her sister did make-up she thought that her sis wanted to seduce her husband so she angried and pull her sis to the bathroom to clean her makeup and everything just wrong
Rather than saying she touched the wrong person, I think it's more like she discovered the existence of this new guy (as at the beginning there was only her wandering in the living room, but later that guy is sitting there and interrupted her route), and she got curious about this person that got to sleep with her beloved sister. So she carefully studies all the facial features of the guy so to "know" and "understand" more about him.
I think the blind girl represents the younger version of the older woman, or perhaps they are sisters. The blind girl represents innocence and youth. She wants to become mature, however, and be like the mature sister. The blind girl wants to fall in love and become mature. However, the mature woman wants the blind girl to stay innocent, because she knows the pain that adulthood - especially love - brings. Thus the 'love is an unerasable tattoo" lyrics; the mature woman knows the pain of love, the young one doesn't, the mature one wants the young one to remain innocent. The blind girl applies make up because she's trying to grow up and mature. The older sister tries to wash her face and get the make up off, because the make up symbolizes maturity and the loss of innocence (young, innocent little girls don't wear make up). However, it's too late, and the innocence of the young girl has been lost- in other words, loss of innocence and knowledge of pain is unavoidable.
+SooYoonA Maknae Huh, interesting. I don't know what the lyrics are, but it sure as anything looks like the older sister/woman is jealous of the younger one who is developing feelings for her husband/boyfriend and is trying to copy what the older sister does to be noticed by him. Anyway around it, I agree that the older wants the younger to not mature any more because it will change the status quo they had. That was my first reaction! It is interesting how different the stories people can interpret from videos like this can be.
The lyrics is about a broken hearted woman, her pain. Just like your interpretation, she's suffering from the pain of maturity.. failure of love with someone she deeply loved. so thre lyrics says 'perfect makeup.. it's no need for me now.' but 'I don't want to erase my makeup yet, please'. She doesn't want to erase makeup yet because it feels like erasing the scent of love.. or maybe she can't go back to innocent times now. I'm very impressed with your interpretation!! :)
Even it has been a long time, this song still gives an impact in me even without understanding it. I just hope that they promoted for a little longer. :)
Dammnn, this mv gives me the chills. In a good way. :D I love BEG mvs, there's always a story in it. Even though I don't understand anything they sing about at all, the music & the video is enough for me to add this to my favourite list. :)
Younger girl isn't only all about the guy, before she felt his face she was trying cuddle with the older woman. So the woman was probably mean to the girl for her own assumptions.
Astrid Maldonado idk why it wont let me reply to your comment on here but i completely agree! I'd also like to add that I think the blind girl is mostly trying to become mature out of admiration for her sister (i think a lot of people just look on the surface and say that the younger sister was in love with her sister's husband but i don't believe that at all. i mean if she wanted her sisters husband wouldnt she have been jealous of her? instead in the bed scene she's seen snuggling with her sister first and just hovering over the guy and in the closet scene she moves right past his clothes to touch her sisters clothes instead) i think she was just interested in learning about love and she believed becoming more like her sister would help
+Ohno .fruit I couldn't find the comment you were referring to, but I agree with you from the girl's perspective, however I think the older sister doesn't see that and get's jealous. Interesting :)
I think she doesn't like the husband; I think the girl just idolizes her unnie very much. It's just that everytime unnie sees her, she sees her with the husband, or something with the husband. AHHHHH ITS SO GREAT. :")
