Deathmare he an antihero because he believed hes doing things for the greater good, to him, his actions will ultimately benefit his people in the longrun, no matter how bad those actions may be. Hes not just pointlessly bloodthirsty like his predecessors.
@@ethanchen2891 He's like the inverse of Heath Ledger's Joker in a way. Although he really is bloodthirsty, he does horrible things not just because he's crazy and wants to decimate the world, but also to prove a point about his enemies. Doing them a favor, he believes. Makarov has a very similar mentality.
Y'know as much as I think of this game as "Just another CoD game." this speech makes a lot of sense. Mostly because what the character is saying about war is pretty true.
Jonnycool 107 way more than just the airport. Moscow mall bombings, plane jacking, fsb vehicle ambush, bank robbing, etc. Makakrov him self has way more blood on his hands they we think.
Makarov is not loyal to Russia despite he is Russian nor does he support any nation or group. He is using Russia and other terrorist group to his interest and kill them after their use, his ultimate goal is world domination by killing every ethnicity including his own who is not loyal to him.
It should have ended with the first MW. COD 4. It was a lot more realistic to current events at the time. We must remember that the Islamists are our enemy, not the Russians.
Ulysses from Fallout New Vegas comes to mind. :) "Even in this place, NCR's shadow falls. Or is it just you, Courier, without the Bear's corpse to weigh you down? The Divide giants are awakening. The missles here, on their way home."
Man, Roman Varshavsky needs to come back to voicing Makarov in future COD projects. Where is he now? Edit: I found out that he's reprised his role as Makarov in CODM. He's basically Makarov himself.
I did the same, they thought i was a political/warfare genius, this speech is do damn true that everyone who actually hears it can feel the inner rage of a nation
I know it’s a video game, but this give me chills to this day. It’s 2021! Don’t @ me, Makarov is one of the greatest if not thee greatest villain of all video games
Robert Freid you are the type of people that will follow people like Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin because you believe the words of madmen who want nothing more then power
@@darthsidious1177 How am I wrong?? Are you going to deny that our American/Western foreign policy has NOT seriously fucked up major parts of the world, like in Iraq - with thoughtlessly invading the Saddam Hussein regime without thinking what's going to come next, or in Libya - with using al-Qaeda linked terrorist militias and an unlawful no-fly zone to cruelly oust the Gaddafi regime - taking the second wealthiest country in all of Africa into a destitute third-world slave state (with literal open air slave markets), or what we tried to do in Syria through Operation Timber Sycamore - funding radical militants who adhere to Islamofascism to try and topple the Assad regime. Somehow, acknowledging and these wrongs on a youtube video makes me willing to follow someone like Stalin or Hitler? No, it does not...
Robert Freid what do you mean "our" I'm not American. And yes they have fucked up shit but I mean that doesn't mean you should follow the people like Makarov if he was real who is trying to start the wars! And also what does this video have to do with saddam Hussein? Literally nothing it's about the destruction of democracy and the fall of western powers which means the killing of your people as well as eventually mine (Canada)
@@darthsidious1177 I didn't say I would ever follow someone like Vladimir Makarov - it's more of a "villain has a point" trope. Than "oh I think the psychopath terrorist is right! There I would join in and kill innocent people". By the way, I am American, so that's why I brought all those pitfalls of ill-thought out American interventions...
