Very honest open view Thabo - good to hear. I personally mistrust anybody who claims to be none judgemental - we all are! There are days when I can't stand my own reflection in a mirror! Add to this the complex broth of indoctrinated values which we all aquire as we develop and the fact that the human race is still in a primate state then it's a constant wonder how any of us survive at all. Will it change? I don't know. I've just finished reading the history of the 1348 Black death pandemic (topical) and the basic fabric of people back then wasn't much different than today. We can only hope that evolution will smooth out the rough edges of humanity. Being a stoic - things could be worse - we never seem to realise this untill they are!! I enjoy your rambles - food for thought. Keep well, Pete.
Very good talk as always, my friend. I’m not familiar with the ANC, but it seems that racism remains alive and well all around us. And sadly, (perhaps this is just me being cynical, but) it seems that those who best organized to actually fight it m, often seem to have a reason to keep it alive. Without it, they lose their power. Strange and sad.
Regarding racism, it is very difficult to have strong opinions without falling into prejudice, and we also open the door to opportune politicians. I believe that the root of the problem in the USA is a cultural issue. Have a great smoke, best!!!
I don't think there's such a thing as non politicized media in the US anymore. It is very sad but true we make assumptions about so many things and people automatically and never question it. Seems to be ingrained in human nature.
I can only see events from my own point of view. That is one of a middle aged white man. We have to be honest and say that racism exists in many forms and on many levels. God Bless us All and may try to walk in the foot steps of others
There's a deep nuanced discussion that needs to take place in the United States, because the responsibility for where we are now lies with everyone; left & right, democrat & republican, white AND black. Unfortunately in this current climate nobody is willing to have an honest conversation and analyze some painful truths. Sadly unless we confront all of uncomfortable facts and painful truths nothing will change. Dr. King would be ashamed at much of what's going on right now.
Ja ek het n Marca ook, baie lekker pyp. Onthou om my University flake uit te hou groot asb. OOm kan my sommer watsapp. Dan wil ek weet daai No1 blend kry, die Rhodesian. EK gaan kyk op oom se site vd Savinelli
The problem with American news is that all of the major channels are extremely bias one way or another. We (American's) also would like to have a good news source, but I've yet to find a single one. What happened to George Floyd is horrible, his death demonstrates some dire issues that need attention. Racism does exist in America to a point, what is more widespread is the ideology of victimhood. This ideaology is both cultural and political and all sides of the political spectrum use it to some extent. The "us vs them" idea is demonstrated via the "minimal group paradigm". There are quite a few experiments demonstrating this if you look it up. It's human nature to divide themselves into groups and discriminate against different other groups. As unfortunate as that is, it's the hard truth. Now, the issue with the looting/riots is that other groups are exploiting the frustration and anger of the George Floyd situation to fuel violence across the United States. Personally I believe Antifa (terrorists) or another external group is organizing this violence. It's been documented that there have been deliveries of bricks and other materials to protest locations prior to the events themselves. Nobody knows who the organizer(s) are at this point, but I believe that will come out in time. American's are a very resilient and robust people, I believe history has demonstrated that time and time again. These issues will eventually stop and the entire nation will move forward.
Ek is n kaapenaar wat net pyp rook en het nog altyd so 40 jaar my tabak by een van kaap se outste winkels op Green market gekoop nou terwyl ons op kraal was het hul toegemaak maar darem gesorg dat ek genoeg RODESIAN Gold het wil graag met jou kontak maak oor pype en tabak as hul kraal weer oopmaak asb
Hey brother! Like it has been said, you cant get fresh water and saltwater out of the same stream. There is no objective media in America and unfortunately because of fallen man, we will always have prejudice. There is nothing new under the sun. Just look at Kane and Abel.
Well said Sir. I agree we all discriminate in one way, shape or form. The issue becomes how we act on our biased opinions and if we learn from them. To learn from each other we must have open discussion and factual data. Unfortunately, people with only opinions to offer prefer to ignore data and accuse everyone who doesn’t agree with them as being racist. Yes, the news media in America is very biased. Fox news would be the largest news media that is closer to center. Some of their news casters do criticize Trump, so it’s not all one sided. Glenn Beck would be another. PS check out YTPC member, Leo Aldopold’s last video, as I did try to present some facts to no avail ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Aygv2F0vrZ0.html
I don't agree with Leo's view. IMHO, he did exactly what I mentioned... Taking a stance without knowing the context. It's easy to live in another country (be it the UK or SA) and have an opinion on issues. But, when talking to people of that country, you suddenly realise how little you actually know (the context), and how different the same situation is interpreted.
@@umfundiseThabo Unfortunately, LEO does not want to hear about statistics and has banned me from commenting. White = Privileged = Racist is nothing more than a blanket statement and will never be right. Below, is a video from Glenn Beck talking to a female black rights activist about Mr. Floyd. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O0QN-mINS1k.html
