Hello, and welcome to the channel!
Whether it's summer or not, there is a strong reason as to why someone from Victoria might want to fly from YVR instead of the airport on the island (YYJ). Here, we review the last leg of the journey: From Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to YVR Airport. The trip involves a bus and a train: route 620 Express and the Canada Line.

While the distance from BC Ferries Swartz Bay Terminal to YYJ Airport isn't very far; the routes going to YYJ Airport are very limited. Route 88 on weekends; 87/88 on weekdays. Route 87 is a long trip depending on where you're getting it from, and doesn't run often. There have been talks of having the Route 88 in Victoria run more often and being more direct (McTavish to Airport, with the Sidney portion being removed). Getting to YVR airport is much easier; however it does require a seperate fare system (Skytrain vs bus) meaning people have to buy a compass card. In Victoria, it's just a $5 daypass ticket, that's all.

We are BACK from our hiatus! I plan on uploading on Thursday next week. It's only one transfer, but I spent more time talking about fares than the actual trip review! Too often do I see people paying with coins on the 620 bus at the ferry terminal and being denied the transfer to SkyTrain!

Being from TORONTO, I will be in VANCOUVER, BUT ON A VIA TRAIN! However I will be in Vancouver Airport for the second time in my life, to the 🇵🇭

Translinks continued resistence to putting luggage racks on buses serving the ferries is putting their operations ahead of customer need. Every European city manages to do this. So what if they need to change how they allocate buses and store buses? It's time TransLink put the customer first in this case. Luggage on those routes is normal and expecting people to not have luggage on buses is just plain ridiculous. They're able to put on a bus just for bikes from the ferry. So it can be done.
