Documenting the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in the 1930's, connecting San Francisco California with Marin County. The construction of this bridge was made possible by John A. Roebling's early experimentation with wire rope that eventually lead to the use of wire ropes to support suspension bridges.

Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge continues using a technique of spinning the massive suspension cables on site. Shows communication system used as a bridge worker talks with dispatcher. Shows an airship or dirigible flying near Golden Gate Bridge. Shows bridge workers clamping suspension cables. Shows many applications of wire rope developed by John A. Roebling, building elevator, building derricks, skip hoists, oil well drilling, bucket shovel of the 1930's excavating the foundation of a building, logging. Shows cable stretched, measured, cut by shear and socket attached. Hanging roadway beams to suspension cables and pouring concrete roadway. Suspension cables are completed.
