I much prefer the narrated videos over the text videos. Big fan.

Also love the camera-work, shots like 2:35

Thanks - I figured it had to be done inevitably. I also figured that the text and B-roll were diverting viewers' attention. It's a rough start but eventually it'll work itself out. I credit channels like Alex Praglowski Aviation for demonstrating that you can run a youtube channel just by doing voiceovers and by taking simple and appropriate B-Roll.

Nice video. Technically, The 99 B-Line didn’t go all the way to Lougheed Stn because there was no Lougheed Stn then. In fact the current bus loop didn’t even exist. The 99’s eastern terminus was simply to “Lougheed Mall” at the bus loop which was then located on the north west corner of Austin and North Road squished in between the parking garage and the street corner. Now of course under construction for high-rises.

People who mentioned 98 bline makes me really happy. This was the bus mom took to get to work at downtown and later brought me all the time to ride the skytrain to science world from ~2006-2009. My best childhood route

The Alex Fraser bridge opened up in 1986, it’s influence it Surrey was to allow changes to some Surrey and North Delta services which formally routed elsewhere. There were several routes that went over that bridge in the beginning

Even though Surrey only has a few skytrain stations right now (of course, set to change), it’s easy to see how useful they are. Before 1990, it would’ve taken well over an hour to get downtown even with express bus service, with I’m assuming terrible traffic getting off the highway into Vancouver. Driving really was the only option for those commuters without flexible hours. But now it takes 40 minutes from King George to Waterfront, which isn’t super quick, but a great improvement. With closing in on 600k people as the main economic centre south of the Fraser, Surrey is slowly losing its sprawling suburbia status. The Langley extension will dramatically increase productivity of Fraser Highway and Surrey City Centre. Although whether it’s as important as a Skytrain link to Newton, I’m not sure.

Helpful when "It looks like Port Alberni outside" when looking out the window on the SkyTrain in suburban Vancouver

Funny Toronto is doing the opposite turning a ICTS to a bus line
@jmstransit
@jmstransit Год назад
Yeah well, the implementation of ICTS in that city was short sighted and left on its own in the first place

Don't know if it has been announced what will happen with bus when the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain opens, assume the 503 will only run from Langley Centre to Abbotsford.

Yeah nothing's been confirmed yet; however there's mounting pressure not only for it to be built, but also on how such a service will be operated/funded

Nice again as usually. I remember looking at a comment section for the April 2020 service changes. Someone ask what buses will 222 use. Translink said it would run would Bendy Buses. Well it isn't there. Was it changed?

Either I don't recall or some change was made shortly before implementation which was not documented. It could have either been related to having no non-rapidbus artics or due to the global health crisis.

So the skytrain from Surrey to Langley is approved, do you think the R1 corridor extension will happen? What do you think that the rework of the bus network will look like?
@jmstransit

I think that we're still far off from having a 200 Street rapidbus despite the skytrain extension to langley, and that expansion of buses on King George is more likely (as far as Surrey is concerned). An extension of the R1 to white rock would make it more or less the same length as the current R5. They just need to fix up 72 Avenue at King George.
