Hi, Other than fan noise, is it making any kind of weird noise? I bought seagate 12 TB and its really annoying coz of the noise. Now I want to try WD.

Hi, does it work even without the power cord (I heard the typical USB sound when you connected it) or it's absolutely necessary? Thanks.

It's necessary because it is a 3.5" 7200rpm HDD inside, means it requires little more power than what a USB port can supply

is this good for gaming i have a 3060ti pc and run 60fps flat on games with high graphics this wont change my fps when gaming right?

I think these drives are intended for storage and to make backups. I certainly wouldn't be using this to install games on. To store them sure but not to play with. SSD's are the better options for gaming. However, hard drives have no impact on FPS. So technically you can install games on them. But you will have longer loading times.

When asking questions like this you have to take whatever answer you get with a grain of salt, because you will most likely get answers from purists who think anything less than 4000fps 16k is unplayable and then inject those views into the answer instead of keeping it objective. Is this good for gaming? Its perfectly fine. It wont affect your fps but it will affect your loading times compared to an ssd. But seeing as how you can get up to five times the amount of storage space for the same money compared to an ssd it really comes down to what you prefer. Five times the space or 10 seconds less loading. Personally I have a 1tb boot drive ssd, a 2tb hdd on which I keep most of my games and then a 1tb sdd for some games like warzone. I dont know why, it just feels better. Whenever I boot up a game its not like I can tell which drive its on based on the loading time because different games have different loading times anyway even if you have them installed on the same drive. Even if both games are on my ssd one take 10 seconds and the other a minute.

Don't get bogged down in all the specs and "you have to have this to blah blah blah". Honestly, the loading difference between this and an SSD will be noticable, but not world ending. An SSD will load a game in say, 10 seconds, whereas this will take...30 or 40 seconds. There are speed comparison videos you can watch if you want. But you can also get a 6TB one of these for $120 whereas a 6TB SSD will run you....10x that amount, if they even make SSDs that big. Anyway, if the loading time is that big of a deal, store games on this and play them from your SSD.
