Thanks man. The CEC was off on my tv. Turning it on fixed the problem. Spent so long swapping cables and reseting everything and one setting fixed the problem fml.

Hi, i just came across your video.... My issue is that my soundbar won't see the ARC by itself but will keep switching to HDMI 1 which is where i have connected my Apple TV box. I have gone over and over again checking the connections and everything seems fine, as well as de CEC and other options. It just goes back to HDMI 1 as soon as i turn the TV on. Right now i opted for disconnecting HDMI cables and power sources on TV and Soundbar and will check it in bit. I did notice thought and when i just go to the LG TV menu paged, that the output for the soundbar IS ARC and whenever i switch to Apple TV source, it goes back to HDMI 1, since you mentioned that the issue could be the Apple TV box, i wanted to ask you if you had any idea what i could look for in the settings there? Everything i see till now seems to be ok though, so i have no idea. If the cabling thing doesnt work later on, maybe i should get in touch with Apple. I hope you have suggestions? Thanks!

Sounds like a real headache with that ARC not cooperating. Good call on double-checking the CEC settings and connections. Since it keeps jumping back to HDMI 1 when you switch to Apple TV, it could be a setting on the Apple TV itself that’s overriding the ARC connection. Maybe check the Apple TV’s audio output settings to ensure it’s set to use the TV as the sound output rather than the HDMI directly? If that doesn’t help, reaching out to Apple sounds like a smart move. Sometimes these techs need a little extra push to play nice together.

Thanks for the tips. Nothings works for me, unfortunately. Here's the specific problem: Everything works except for VolumeControl/Mute via TVs remote. My Harman/Kardon BDS280 starts automatically when turning the TV on and the speakers are working properly also. CEC(Anynet+ for Samsung) is active. TV is from around 2015. Both Arc-Ports are used and everything is wired correctly. Nothing else is connected. Just BDS280 as receiver/Bluray player. Two Yamaha speakers are connected to BDS. Have to use receiver remote to control volume. Any suggestions? THANK YOU.

Hey, sorry to hear you're still having trouble with it! It's a bummer when things don’t work as they should. Since everything else is fine but the volume control, you might want to double-check if there’s a specific setting on the TV or the BDS280 that's not set right for the CEC to control the volume. Sometimes a firmware update on either device can also help sort these kinks out. If that doesn’t do the trick, reaching out to customer support could be your next best step. Hope this helps a bit, and you get it sorted soon! Thanks for reaching out!

@@hifiaudios8101 Unfortunately there is no Update for neither. Tried everything... Will change to a good old Yamaha or Sony receiver with arc and keep my Samsung BDPlayer seperately. The BDS 280 always spins DVDs when inserted even when just watching TV. Second reason to not keep this one. If this doesn't fix the problem maybe a new TV will help since it must be TVs fault... It's FIFA Footbal European League this year here in germany. So there will be some reasonable offers for never TVs (my Samsung is from 2015)... THANK YOU ANYWAY! Keep the good work up. :)

Hi, Thanks for the explanation. I got a problem when connecting my old Philips HTS-9140 soundbar (2010) to My Samsung The Frame TV (2022 version). Here's the problem. I try to connect the hdmi arc port of the soundbar to hdmi arc port on the Samsung TV and The TV cannot recognize the HDMI ARC of the soundbar. First I used HDMI cable provided by Philips Soundbar (probably HDMI 1.4 version cable), then I tried to configure whether the cable was not working or the HDMI ARC port of the soundbar was broken by connected the HDMI 1.4 cable from HDMI ARC port of the soundbar to HDMI (not ARC) port of the TV, and voila..a notification appeared on the TV screen, it recognized that a HDMI ARC device connected to HDMI port of the TV and suggest to reconnect it to HDMI ARC port on TV. Then I done so and connected HDMI cable to HDMI ARC port on the TV, but nothing happened. So lastly, I change to HDMI 2.0 cable and reconnected to both HDMI ARC ports of the soundbar and TV, also checked the HDMI ARC CEC on position. Nothing happened. I did the settings all over again, and still did not working... Could you give some advice how to make the HDMI ARC from both Soundbar and TV works ?

Hey there! Sounds like you're having a bit of a headache with your HDMI ARC setup. I've been there, trust me. So, you've tried a bunch with your Philips soundbar and Samsung TV, huh? Let's see... First off, good job on trying different cables. That's always my go-to move. But here's a thing, HDMI ARC can be a bit picky, especially with older gear. Your soundbar is from 2010, right? It might not be fully compatible with your 2022 Samsung TV's ARC feature. Tech changes fast, and sometimes the old stuff doesn't play nice with the new. You mentioned you tried an HDMI 2.0 cable, which is great, but there's more to it. Sometimes, it's not just about the cable but also about the settings on both the TV and soundbar. Make sure the HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) settings are enabled on both devices. This lets them talk to each other better. Also, check if there's a firmware update for your soundbar. Older devices sometimes need a little update to work with newer tech. If all else fails, you might want to consider a workaround. Like, using an optical cable instead of HDMI for audio. It's not as sleek as using ARC, but it gets the job done.

@@hifiaudios8101 Thanks for the your replying.. HDMI CEC Setting on both Soundbar and TV are enabled from the first time I connected them using HDMI 1.4 Cable. Unfortunately, I search on the Philips Audio/Video website and they are no more supporting newer firmware, because it was discontinued. These 2 HDMI ARC devices really gave me headache and frustration as you said. And I exactly used the final method connected them using Digital Optical / Toslink port on each other before you give that advice. It works well, but not as great as using HDMI ARC, because every time if I turn The Samsung TV on, I've to turn the soundbar on manually. Anyway I also already bought JBL Bar 5.1 Soundbar and has nothing wrong with the HDMI ARC connection with my Samsung TV. They are cooperating very well and smooth. In other hand, I know that HTS-9140 soundbar was outdated, but that Philips Soundbar was one the great in its time and I still want to keep and use it. It still sounds pretty well although already 13 year old. Thank you very much for share and give me your valuable advice.

And actually show how the power cycle works. Which order do we plug the cables back in? You skipped over everything
@hifiaudios8101
@hifiaudios8101 2 месяца назад
For a power cycle, unplug all the cables, wait about 10-15 seconds, then plug the HDMI back into the TV first, then the soundbar.

This guide is bad. Why don’t you actually show start to finish rather than show one of the steps on one tv and then show the next step with a UI from a whole other tv
