The only thing this means is he was in the past and he didn't have to worry about being handed legal paperwork by a process server. Yes, that's the reason he didn't like to be handed anything by people he didn't know. Because everyone he knew handed him stuff all the time.

I think this was a beautiful touch to the scene. The fact Tony was so caught up with facing the reality that he's speaking to his father as a friend, as a comrade or even as a amicable employee. Tony holding the flowers was simply him listening to his dad, doing as he's told and not even thinking about his peeve. Just a kid talking to his dad, a dad that passed long ago, a kid who's become a dad of his own. Lots of healing in that scene for Tony. What i wouldn't give to have 5 minutes with my old man. We went out on bad terms and then he passed. Now i am a father myself and would love to just talk to him. Enjoy your parents guys they are here for a finite amount of time.
Not just that, but speaking to his father... about himself... before he was born. With so much going on during the Time Heist, I think it took a couple seconds to sink in that his actual day of birth was coming up in a few months.
I can’t agree more both my parents died before I turned 21 and I would literally give anything I have happily to talk to them for 5 min. It’s hard not being able to sometimes.
The short time hes with his dad, it was so emotional, i think with movies like this, all of us who lost or were abandoned by our fathers feel it that much more.
He always thought his father cared more about his inventions than his son because that's all he ever saw from him while his dad was alive. He found out different when he found that film while trying to figure out his father's secret formula for a new element.
The guy gave his best performances in comedies, but mo*ns look down upon comedies, so that shit gets overlooked. Let's not forget THE GOAT, Jim MF Carrey. The amount of faces he puts together, the amount of characters, voices... Phenomenal. Hope to see them two together once.
This is such a horrible take and I really wish people would stop coming to this conclusion. Infinity War and Endgame only work as well as they do because of all the movies that came before them. They are the epic conclusion of a decade worth of buildup. Comparing the slow start of the new saga to the dramatic finish of the last one is genuinely idiotic.

But infinity war and endgame were good movies. Really good movies. Sure there were a few crap movies leading up to it, ironman 2, thor 2 (I liked it tho...), and some other movies I don't even remember. But even those bad movies don't hold a candle to the utter horse shit thats been made recently. All this "woke" idealogy and this strange cocktail of feminism and transgenderism and inclusivity. Like it doesn't make good movies or series... So yeah. You're right, IW and Endgame isn't the best. But if you put it next to all the caustic and radioactive rubbish that's being released today. It's the Mona Lisa as far as anyone's concerned.

The reason he does this, is because he sees himself as a self made man, and by taking things from others, it would make it seem like he is asking for help which goes against his policy. The only reason he takes things from Pepper and his dad is because both of them seriously helped him at out at one point or another, details like this were why the MCU was so great.

Nice sentiment from the story but the true reason is because Tony stark was based off of Howard Hughes. A man who was as rich as Tony and had done tremendous things in the world of aviation. But had a horrible case of OCD

I've always had a personal space thing way before Covid. I don't like people too close or touching me. The best way to make me leave all the way home? Cough or sneeze in the same room without covering. Cut to 2018 . . . . I give birth to my son in February. I thought I was over all my peeves. Turns out , the kid doesn't bother me. Other people still bother me, and I'm still a devoted germaphobe. But I push or leave or walk away from others. My son will just flop on me and cuddle and I'll hug him and cuddle.
@MidnightMarrow Not really. He didn't like being handed things by Natasha, who technically was working for him at the time, nor did Happy hand him things, and he certainly was working for Tony. Yet Bruce was allowed to hand him things. Bruce handed him the pad in the lab. Steve was also permitted to hand him things, and so was Aunt May.
I love this interaction so much because Tony actually understood what it meant to be a father having a child of his own, he can relate to the chewing bit, I imagine Pepper had a similar phase.
It's not just because it's his dad. It's actually even more relevant to their conversation: Kids hand you stuff all the time. He has spent years cherishing every possible moment with his daughter. He has grown.
I saw a small amount of pain in his face that was overshadowed by his feeling of loss knowing this is the last time he sees his dad but also with love for his father he never got to express.
That was golden, I'm impressed! 👏👍❤️ I have a father just like everyone else, but I hate him, a pure lifetime hate. And I always envy those who have or had a good relationship with their father. When Tony met his father again and hugged him, i cried.
The best way to have it happen . He hasn’t seen his father in years and although Howard doesn’t know Tony they are talking as equals / colleagues. Tony is happy to see his father, you can just tell he loves and respects him .
Tony only ever accepted things from the people he loved. Pepper frequently takes things for him and hands them over, Rhodey hands him one or two things, and this scene with his dad was the icing on the cake. Tony loved, deeply and irreparably, and he showed that in the smallest ways
@sptflcrw8583 could also be the reason in the MCU, he seems a bit shock after finding out his mother was pregnant at the time, almost like if she was not supposed to be. I think it was just an easter egg left by the writers/directors for people that has read that comic line.
