@manuelsinn3224 oh I think Kii is fantastic. It gets about 6k more base HP than Amagi so I exploit that with Hide as an inspo to buff the overall HP but mostly to also buff the heals. Running Arthas with Master Mechanic, Will to Rebuild gets you 5 heals at 528/sec. Adding Hide as inspo buffs that to 560/sec. Those heals are better than Tirpitz or Hawke even without the Hide buff. Very impressive Arthas makes the build really fun but you can do a similar build with Kondo for free. I'd just advise not taking Brawler for your 1st skill. If you don't have Hide you can't go wrong with accuracy or reload inspos. Beyond that it plays a lot like Tirpitz. A pain to deal with at mid-range with very nice defensive torps 👍 If you try it let me know what you think! 😛

a kiting BB!!! But you dont have the speed and turning rate. At least you have no exeptional firepower or armor either, coz its a Battlecruiser, turret reloads are standard 30s 34% torp reduction is not bad

Just played Ashitaka this morning on my daily Premium run. It’s always just an OK battle for me. 50K average. I dropped two broadside cruisers, but popped like a water balloon to a Colorado. For some reason, I always find myself trying to switch over to torps in this thing. Must be that battle cruiser feel. Anyway, surprised to see your vid pop up right after I played it. I agree with everything you went over. I find it’s a great cruiser killer, but in that chase, you’ll get slapped by the unexpected BB salvo and end up back in port.

Awesome stuff Derka!!! Was wondering how you felt about the Resistance tier 6 British. Everyone calls me crazy but I have a lot of fun in a battleship with 18.4 range on main guns and 10.8 on torpedoes. But I’m no pro or anything just a casual 40 year old that loves war games. I only have 1 legendary right now since I just got back into warships and found a good fleet. But love your content and Tommy y’all are my go too for WoW legends. Hope everyone has an amazing day!

@@DerkaGames downside her secondary is non existent and only 3 main batteries 2 guns per so only 6 total but if you have a British commander geared towards that mixed with some accuracy for range you can land all 6 on a citadel. Appreciate your work man back to the high seas the luck is not on my side today except one game that proved why my Wyoming is my best tier3 that I own. Have a great one and look forward to you trying out some games with the resistance.

I always seen the Ashitaka as the older sibling to the Kii because of the identical smokestacks, with the only significant differences being the developed superstructure on the Kii and the elimination of a few secondary guns that were replaced with side-plating, probably because of the addition of those torpedos and AA on the Kii. The problem with the Ashitaka is what is the motivation to buy it or even keep it if you should acquire it in a random crate? If one is a CV player (or even a casual CV player) the Ashitaka is a target for easy elimination because of the severe lack of AA defense. I think Wargaming has an opportunity to fix this ship....how? An Ashitaka '42 or '43... Build up the superstructure to reflect a '40's update and add AA to significantly bring it up to at least 70% which would be a huge improvement along with adding a bit of armor and then you have a much better ship that evolved through the wonders of technology. 😜 If WG did this, it would be a more appealing purchase consideration. On an unrelated note... I'm looking forward to seeing the HMS Rodney and USS West Virginia '44 coming into the game...eventually.

With tier 6, I like the: Heinrich, Lyon, Colorado (so accurate), Fiji, and Helena. All such good ships. Lyon is by far my favorite, and the best performing. It is funny that some of the “best” ships in tier 6… have some of my worse performances, like the Sinop, and Tallinn.

Ashitaka, Kii and Amagi all derive from the same design. Historically these would have been built as part of the Japanese “eight-eight fleet” program which basically meant 8 battleships and 8 battlecruisers. The Kii is the battleship version of this plan (which was an evolved version of the never built Tosa-class which itself was an enlarged Nagato class) and the Amagi is the battlecruiser. I’m pretty sure Ashitaka is meant to be a less developed or earlier design of what would later be the Amagi. The ships would never be built due to the Washington Naval Treaty but the Japanese carrier Akagi was converted to a carrier from what was an Amagi battlecruiser hull and the carrier Kaga was converted from a Tosa-class hull.

I usually look at DPS values. Stock Ashitaka has a DPS of 85 and Heinrich has a DPS of 80

@@DerkaGames Heinrich has 190 combined. 100 on the 105 mm guns and 90 on the 37s. It also has more range: the german 37s have 3.5km and the japanese 25s have 3.1km. I don't think there actually is a BB with worse AA than Ashitaka at tier VI.

This isnt so bad like you said play it at range HE i find works better than AP. I think it is a battle cruiser more than a BB but slap on some concelment commanders or a commander that lowers amount of time you are spotted after firing your guns. And watch out for ships that have your broadside you should have a ok game great video

Here is how you balance Ashitaka. You don't touch the stats. Just give it premium matchmaking so it doesn't see tier 7. It would be an incentive to play the ship because you know you will always be top tier. I think Ashitaka can have this treatment because it is mediocre at best when top tier. I would definitely play mine more if that were the case.

Great video, and you’re right, T6 feels like a big step down, but it’s still fun to play around in. You mentioned HMS Hood… what’s a good way to build her out and play? I only ever seem to squeeze out “ok” games in her. Probably (read: Definitely) a skill issue, but any advise would be appreciated. Thanks man.

Oh shoot, ive never been a good Hood player. I think i use AL Hood and build for speed (kinda for the memes). She has improved AP pen angles and short fuses, that and the sonar she should be solid....but I never seem to have amazing games either.

Nice to see some of the more unusual ships being played! Yeah, tier 6 and especially regarding BB’s and cruisers, are in a difficult place. Tier 7 was more or less originally designed to face legendary tier (and a lot of buffs were applied for that). The armor, gun performance, HP and heals, is just so much more prevalent and better at tier 7 than tier 6. And that’s before even mentioning the epic and legendary mods, which are only the cherry on top of the factors making tier 6 som much stronger than tier 7. Comparatively, I for instance don’t find the gap between T7-T8 or T8-legendary to be anywhere near as wide. That’s a bit sad since there are many interesting and fun ships at tier 6 when one thinks about it. There is of course the alternative these days, of playing “Arcade”. I generally prefer Standard, even when taking out a tier 6 and facing tier 7 in it can be a fun challenge. But Arena is there to make T6 the guaranteed top tier, and as a bonus: no carrier nuisance.

Hey derka. Last time I commented about the UK heavy cruiser line and its problems during your “there are no bad ships in the game” video . I now come again to ask you to make a video about the line and why it’s so…forgettable? My opinion to why said line is like this mainly has to do with their direct competition, IJN heavy cruisers. Which literally do everything that the UK heavy cruisers do but slightly better. Every time I glance at the line I am like “should I?” Then immediately remember I can literally just get the IJN line. And also the fact that I have literally never seen anyone really cover this line in depth and your style of videos are really clean and smooth when it comes to covering things like this. I would love for you to shed light on this line and hear your opinions about it so that it might get some love from WG.

I dount theres bad battleships just each one has its playstyle. My favorite Premium Tier 7 is Tirpitz just the best all rounder second favorite is Jean Bart if I'm on a losing streak

Great video! I got Ashit-talka when it first dropped and played it quite a bit. Not so much anymore. I believe the guns are Mutsu guns (or Mutsu shells technically) so its kind of a "what-if" pre-modernization Amagi. The same in-game role Mutsu fills for Nagato I remember it hitting hard and being pretty decent but stopped playing it so much after they changed the game economy. Now that T7 is the money maker it's so hard to get a T6 game where you're not bullied by Mainz and Plymouth and such. Plus, when you can play Kii and have essentially the same ship with the upgraded shells, far superior armor, decent AA, torps, AND you're earning more because its T7 it's like 🤷 PS: Really starting to enjoy a brawly Kii build with Arthas. Running Hide as inspo with Master Mechanic and Will to Rebuild. 5 heals at 560/sec with 15% base damage added from Avatars of Slaughter and another 20% with a fighter up 🤣 it can be a bucket of fun

Basically back in the day, Kongou, Fushou, Nagato and Amagi all had WW1-hulls in the game, "A-hulls", they all had basically zero AA, and they were so appallingly unplayable wargaming removed the stock hulls from the, then readded them as sister ships one tier down, i'e Ashitaka and Mutsu. (I have no idea what happened to Yamashiro and Haruna/Hiei/Kirishima , possible because the 2 they did add sold so badly) Hence why they have the inferior older shells compared to Nagato and Amagi

Ashitaka is just an Amagi with the original 1920 design appearance they had for Amagi sitting at Tier VI, and because of that, it obviously is a bit worse. But Ashitaka, I don't hate it or love it, it's just okay i guess, because while you do have paper armour, which is still quite common at this tier, you do keep those 41cm bullets, which would break through every cruiser and some battleships of this tier. And it could be fun, under certain circumstances and how the game goes.

Ashitaka is basically a dumbed down premium version of *Amagi* at tier 6 in their un-modernized 1920s configuration that can do well when played properly, but can get bullied easily. Especially when uptier'd or against any of the Hybid BB She's a gem for new players if they're lucky with a freebie crate though.

I don't see that as realistic....it's a roughly early 1920 design with little regard for AA defense....what I do see is a money-making opportunity for WG by creating an Ashitaka '42 or '43, which would include some improved armor, a developed superstructure with a large improvement toward AA defense bringing it up to at least 75% or a bit higher and then you have a Tier 7 Ashitaka that can compete and defend itself against a persistent CV attack. It's a logical move, at least on paper because Japan only has two Tier 7 battleships/battlecruisers.

Interesting you throw propulsion on your ships as a default. I typically throw rudder shift on them. I play my BBs quite fluidly though and bow tank rarely.

I use Prop Mod for all of my BBs, because they always take *a lot* longer to accelerate or decelerate - and that is your best defense against most torpedo attacks, imo. It also seems to buff steering just a little.

To each their own, but yes im a prop mod guy. Rudder on maybe a Champagne or Gas can, but I just prefer to prop juke, start and stop. I rarely ever bow tank, unless I just screwed up and got in a bad position

There's easily a dozen+ battleships in the game worse than Ashitaka. If you can't play it, you can't play BCs. If someone is bad behind the wheel of an Ashitaka, he probably plays BCs, BBs, and even cruisers all the same way. Lower tiers are even more BB heavy than high tiers, and Ashitaka came out when there were way fewer BCs than there are now. They try to bring every turret on target, get dev struck by 2 out of 3 BBs it faces, and then complain about how bad it is. TLDR: skill issue

Great vid, as always, @DerkaGames! As far as the "Rooke" goes, I really really liked that ship. Of course, showing broadside, you could get bitch slapped so hard back to port that your ears are ringing the next morning but.. it's a fun ship. Currently working on both the "Kansas" and the "Hawke". :D

Sooo many commander choices. Personally, I ran Lutjens as he seemed to have good skills for "large cruisers." and because I didn't want to change any of my other german commanders. (AL Hipper for hipper and prinz, Riegerwald for Agir, Muller for the rest i think, Maybe Roon for Roon, Bismarck for Schroder)

Ha! I got Mikasa thinking I’d be like those meme vids, taking down 5 or 6 ships just sailing up the middle. Found out I spend half the match trying to get my turrets to catch up, and when they do, watch the dispersion spread out of view. Complete turd.

Defo gun boat, almost have to forget about the torps. Use your guns and heals to bully other DDs and take caps. Smoke and farm with guns when the DDs are dealt with

It has the shitty ww1 ap shells, just like the mutsu, which means that the pen is really bad against bbs at mid/long range. Plus i do not fint it very accurate, cause of its vertical dispersion

It may be worse than the fubuki with no redeeming qualities but it's still a strong dd. Funny because on pc it actually has 3 turrets and the fubuki only has 2 but for some reason they gave the fubuki 3 turrets in legends. They should give the ship better gun reload at the very least imo but better than some t5 dds still
