I think I can explain both of their arguments: A and B A) For hamza, he was explain the absurdity of an infinite caused events can never lead to present. A caused event is a change of event from one state to another which require an explanation or event preceding it (either significant change or small change, but a change nonetheless) If a caused event goes infinitely backward, then the current event (i.e. a soldier taking the shot requiring permission from the previous person) can never happen. B) But what the old man is talking about is the unchanged state of an event. He explained if there was already an infinite instruction to "take the shot", for the current event (soldier) to finally take the shot. But he failed to realize, if there was an infinite regression of instruction "take the shot now!", then the current event (soldier) have to (by definition) to also give instruction forward " take the shot now!" and it will go on infinitely without a change. (What both of them failed to realize is that, the old man's example is an explanation for GOD for Hamza's example) Hamza explanation involves a change along the line in the regression. He wanted to say that the current event can never take place if the event is infinitely dependent to a cause before it. So there has to be a beginning of change to that event to stop the infinite regression. The old man make an example, there there was always an instruction of change. But he fail to realize, that what he was talking about has nothing to do with what Hamza is trying to demonstrate. From what I understand, the old man's example is Islam equivalent of God. (Bear with me on this before saying A'u'zubillah) The old man didn't realize he was talking about God per say. God by definition is infinite, has no beginning or end. He is the original source of the change and therefore He Himself does not go through change. God is the "first permission to take the shot" in Hamza's example and the infinite regression of "take the shot now!" in the old Man's example The old man explain that there was always an existing instruction of "take the shot now!" which cause the current event to eventually happen. Both Hamza and the old man didn't realize they were talking about different thing but in sequence of one another. Hamza is talking about after God. The old man is talking about infinity already giving instruction to change (which is God).

i can understand the old man. imagine the shooter is pointing a laser gun that is always firing.. but that wouldnt work as an analogy for the universe, since the bing bang inferred changes. a laser gun which is always firing doesnt represent that.

it is very easy to prove that Allah exists by simple steps: 1- it is necessary to prove that there is a creator: 1-1 by the rules and laws of the cosmic itself: ex: when engineers plan a house, they must make calculations of the laws of gravity and the laws of materials chemistry construction and the laws of geology and... ext. -> therefore there are laws of the universe which we cannot see but they exist. and the materials of the universe is controlled by these laws. 1-2 - the laws of the universe complement each other and are in harmony with each other, for example: if the laws of physics, the law of gravity is in contradiction with the law of action and reaction, he cannot even build a wall, and so on with other sciences. --> so in conclusion as long as there is harmonic in this enormous number of laws of the universe it means that there is no coincidesnce (we can prove it mathematically by probability). 1-3 - all the laws of the universe are harmonic at all levels and at each level of matter, for example these are the laws of chemistry which are not compatible with the laws of physics and with the laws of mathematics that you can't make cement to build anything... pole. --> so as long as all the laws of the universe are in harmony with each other and control the matter and chart the path in which the matters will be, and as the end of these harmonics of the laws, it is the universe himself - himself. 1-4- overview of the harmonic laws of the universe: with the harmonic of the laws of the universe in each level of matter and in all levels from atoms to the universe itself, there is therefore an arrangement in this harmonic in laws which resulted in creation of the universe itself. ---> in conclusion: 1- there are laws of the universe that control the materials of the universe. 2- there is a harmonic between these laws of the universe. 3- the end of these harmonic laws is the universe itself. 4- with this enormous harmonic of the laws of the universe in each level of matter and in all levels alongside the arrangement of these laws, therefore we can deny chance and as we deny chance this means that there is has an intention to create the universe. 5- the question now who intended to create the universe: 5-1 the universe itself: it is impossible because the universe must have existed before being created!!! ??? 5-2 it is Allah: and to be sure of it, just read the Koran. --- but remember that belief comes from the heart and belief involves faith in unseen things (because you don't need to believe in what you see).

Ok so this fine tunning argument isn't very well writen. 1 of course there are laws in the universe. 2 I also agree that this laws are "in harmony" or "not contradiction". Because otherwise the universe wouldnt exist. 3. Here I understand "end" as objective or goal, so I would say that these laws dont need to have a goal, same way as a rock or a deer or a star dont need to hace a goal. 4 I dont agree that the harmony betwen laws is as fragile as you make it look. If gravity was a bit weaker, maybe planets would be a bit smaller, if light travelled a bit faster or slower, things wouldnt change too much. Also we are not sure on how many FUNDAMENTAL laws the universe has. A lot of laws can be atributted to other more fundamental laws. For example newtons second and first law are examples of the law of conservation of energy, which is more fundamental. Also here you are looking for the probability of this universe existing without god, which is the wrong probability. You should be looking for the probability of this universe existing without god GIVEN that we (humans) already exist. This changes drastically your probabilities. Its like if you go to work in your underwear and you get fired, what is the chance of you getting fired? Small. What is the chance of you gettung fired GIVEN that you showed up in your underwear? Big. It is life that has adapted to Earth, not the other way around. Im no physicist so maybe I said some stuff thats wrong

The simplest form of a creator is that everything happening is too much to be a "coincidence". Science only explains how things happen, not why. Science also changes often. Logically, there's no reason to reject the possibility of a creator. Out of all religions, Islam only foretells things that people are now discovering. They still deny it too. Quite sad.

I. Then prove it 1-1 laws of the cosmos Nope! The process in which it takes for humans to be able to create in no way defines what it takes for a cosmos to manifest what is . Honestly that sounds cartoonish think there is some metaphysical, hammer ,nail and carpenter so to speak. That is not meant to insult you personally. I am a blunt person so I may say things in ways that are not so much meant to disrespect you but more so the way the ideas come across. It's the idea not you. But back to the topic if that were true and you could think that far ahead to know what a god is capable of then you should be able to tell me how this god is able to enact such method, what is the apparatus and methods by which this god could manipulate gravity or any other force of nature? Is it through telekinesis? What have you seen in this reality that indicates that is possible like when you see engineers create something? Have you seen an engineer able to create without a brain being involved? Have you seen one without any methods or means of manipulating raw material? Have you seen any intent to create without a brain? Help me out here. Tell me how it works out with your reasoning that a nonphysical god containing such physical force that would be reasonably more powerful than all the forces of nature combined to be able to manipulate them because they do not hear commands, so if that true then why are the much lessor forces detectable while your god is not when everything can be reduced to a quantum felid which is threshold between existence and non existence. It does not get anymore reducible than that while still existing, if that is not true then have you conducted an experiment that debunks it? Did you submit your findings to be peer reviewed? These are questions you should be able to answer if this god exists in reality with you saying that it is rational,. If you don't know then I would say just like you don't how a universe could manifest what it is you consider so complex when you don't see a god bringing the male and female gametes together to create something as complex as humans. If you cannot show that a god is behind that then you have your answer for how a universe could manifest it all on it's own.. Reasonably that what I would imagine, I would sure like to know how you could know especially while not seeing one a day in your life to say that it is true, which I could just stop right there without going any further except I want to explore what rationality means to you because you do not just get to reason that it is possible without showing that it is possible while still calling it rational. 1-2 And a virus and cell compliment each other and "harmonizes:" to create a disease. Dose that sound reasonable to you? Can you demonstrate that the disease was the result of intention or merely the result of a virus coming in contact with a cell. Do you think it's the result of intention just because it works out in a way that impresses you? Well what happens when it does not work out in a way that impresses you? I am an artist and when I want to make flesh tones I mix cadmium red, burnt umber, and titanium white or may a few other colors depending on the subject I am painting but would be it be the same result if I were working in acrylics and all my cans fell on the floor and they happen to mix with the other paints and create a flesh tone. Now if I just brought you the resulting color how can you tell the difference between me intentionally making the color or it being the result of them falling on the ground and my dog wagging his tail in the paint and mixing them together? Does them falling on the ground mean that there was an intention on making a flesh tone or that my dog intended to? Is there any suggestion of intended harmony? Harmony is subjective to you how it registers to your mind the universe does not know what harmony is and couldn't care less about what it means to you when it would also "harmonize" a virus with your cell" No conclusion just a speculation because you have not shown anything , Proof reveals what is fact no reasoning necessary. Reasoning is not proof. That what you do to arrive at proof, the actual conclusion and verdict of your reasoning .All you that you proved is the way your reasoning operates on this topic ,that only speaks for you , not anyone else or a universe. Proof is what shows that you reasoned right, That is one major flaw with Islamic apologists approach. They think it all stops at what they can best reason and not following it all the way through to a factual conclusion , or how what is they tell you works out in reality, they just merely claim it without anything demonstrating that what they reasoned is right. They think empirical evidence is a dirty word yet they are not willing to show me their supernatural skill of being able to know of anything without it . I will address your other points but to avoid writing a book that I am not sure you or anyone will read just let me know you have and i will address them or anyone else who wants to engage me.

@@Sg190th That's only because you think a universe cannot be more complex than what you could ever imagine it being and that the word complex means anything outside your head that actually speaks for what a universe is capable of doing. You think it does not expand past what you can logically conceive of when if it didn't you should have been able to crack any lingering mystery we have about it right now. What I can say is quite sad is that even when a universe shows you how it can manifest what you call complex right before you eyes with you demonstrably being the result you still won't believe it. Parents come back from a vacation looking happy because male and female gametes united, zygote all the way up to a human, You know this can happen no other way yet you keep questioning it looking for an explanation when you already have it, but sense it's not what makes you feel you have a sense of purpose you will just keep asking and asking , looking and looking and not accepting anything unit you get to a god conclusion never arriving at a conclusion without thinking you must. You think all that is required is for you to reason that its there with that being the conclusion in itself, and that everyone else is supposed to reason like you and if they don't think it's obviously something wrong with their reasoning all without anything going to show that what you reasoned is accurate so that it would give anyone any reason to care about what you have best reasoned. You are infinite regressing to your desired conclusion when if that were the factual conclusion then it should be apparent or at lest shown to be possible. Foretells what? Forged predictions or someone being wise enough to figure things out without anyone else knowing how? I do not know how anyone came up with algebra but someone did. Doesn't tell me anything about a god but you know what could? A god, that's how I know that I could use one as a possible explanation for anything. If such being was involved willing to do that then why aren't they doing it now? Because if one is not doing it now then I nave no reason to believe it was one doing it then. Do we not need it now or something? Why foretell when knowledge can be given in real time? Is everything accurate? Because an all knowledgeable being would be.

Not really, as a Muslim I don't believe in an infinite regression but I think Hamza's argument is weak, here's why (especially concering the shooting soldier example taking the permission from the one before him): Time is linear, it moves in one direction, forward only, time does not go back (apart from sci-fi, no scientist would ever firmly believe in that). Time can be slowed, but NEVER reversed The example of the soldier does not work because you're displaying an example where, when compared to time itself, it is as if time is being reverse which is impossible, because the soldier example is a two-way approach where a permission goes to the solider behind him (as if going back in time). So the example itself is invalid.

They do not give God a fair reckoning. Several things they need to unlearn first. First is that all religious belief is illogical and that faith is for people with weak minds, not "big brains" like them. If you got that arrogance that you've got it all figured out, or at least there's NO WAY God could be The Truth, so they won't even entertain the thought, because it MUST BE illogical nonsense. Tough hurdle to overcome.

So if there is no phase change and the soldier always had permission then there were no events. Meaning that no change of phase happened as the atheist puts it, and therefore contradicted himself when he mentioned it was plasma before. If there was a phase change then that means a series of events and therefore no inifinity.

The old man's example of "they always have the permission to shoot" is a rational point. To postulate that there's a commander who needs to give the command through a chain of infinite commanders before you shoot, supposes that you need a start (final commander) to to shoot. If your idea is that the universe existed infinite you don't need an authorizer to do something, things happen as and when the need arises, just like the old man said "all the snipers have a permission to shoot without been authorized"

This atheists eternal universe model simply refuted by the fact that we are observing the permission isn't always given because we are experiencing one moment at a time and not all moment simultaneously. Secondly, if he means infinite events happens in the past then we would be at the end of infinity which is illogical. And if he means infinite events happening simultaneously then he can't say at one point there was no universe which changes to be a one i.e. because infinite events can happens simultaneously so there's no needs for gradual succession of events one moment at a time. And that would mean universe is infinitely old because the reality is infinitely old according to atheists eternal universe model and this is not scientifically acceptable.

This guy was obviously intelligent which made for a constructive and engaging conversation. Still, in all honesty, Hamza took him to school, especially on the infinite regression question, which he seemed to struggle to fully comprehend. Let's hope the 'atheist' returns with more rounded, fleshed-out/thought-out arguments next time.

It’s very easy to be fooled into thinking the old man being knowledgeable and intelligent. At times we view age and grey hair as wisdom, this couldn’t be further from the truth in this example. The older gentleman has serious lack of comprehension skills. Hamza is using the good old firing the gun example and applying it to infinite regression and the old man just doesn’t understand the correlation. Hamza shows good sabr again!

As a Muslim I don't believe in an infinite regression but I think Hamza's argument is weak, here's why (especially concering the shooting soldier example taking the permission from the one before him): Time is linear, it moves in one direction, forward only, time does not go back (apart from sci-fi, no scientist would ever firmly believe in that). Time can be slowed, but NEVER reversed The example of the soldier does not work because you're displaying an example where, when compared to time itself, it is as if time is being reverse which is impossible, because the soldier example is a two-way approach where a permission goes to the solider behind him (as if going back in time). So the example itself is invalid.

Searching for truth Get rid of bias. Requires True honest heart and mind helping to get to the truth. Never ever take that defensive position. No matter how much and how many facts go against the existing belief of oneself. Ensure the research and study sources showing facts are indeed reliable. Play safe, better to choose Academia being the source. Everyone respects it accepting in general. Again not talking exceptions if any as those always surface throwing in a monkey ranch. But here with Academia it is the universal religion. Belief of all. No gimmicks or biased view points fed corrupting the minds. Intellects only drink from the academic fountain. Everything is simple being black and white and no trickster's mind games wanting to fool but only wanting to teach reality ie fact of the matter. Period!
