So My Dude Ahmad Here's The Story M.C Shan Who's From Queensbridge And Was In The Juice Crew (M.C Shan,DJ/Producer Marley Marl,Biz Markie,Roxanne Shante,Kool G Rap,Big Daddy Kane,Craig G, Master Ace & Tragedy The Intelligent Hoodlum) Shan Made A Song Called The Bridge Produced By Marley Marl He Basically Was Talking About How Hip Hop Got Started In His Hood Queensbridge But KRS-ONE mistook it as Shan Saying Hip Hop In it's entirely Got started in Queensbridge as apposed to The Bronx and that's how The Bridge Is Over Came about and that was The 2nd Diss Song They The First One Was Called "South Bronx" Then Shan Came Back With Kill That Noise Then BDP Came Back With The Bridge Is Over and he destroyed Shan on that one Game Over 😅😅

In Kill That Noise, Shan claims KRS was mistaken about The Bridge claiming hip hop originated in Queens...Personally I don't buy it, based on the lyrics of The Bridge. But I'm also pretty sure that if Shan had never dropped The Bridge, KRS would have picked another Juice Crew member to diss instead. Because Marley Marl called their record wack and wouldn't play it on the radio when they tried to give it to him. He had to get his name out there somehow... You nailed the official story on every point. 👍 But these little details and either side's true motivations are also an interesting part of the history.

He only “won” because Cold Chillin records wouldn’t let Shan respond. This was from the time when the producers called the shots and a rapper couldn’t just record and release a song like they do now. Shan could have definitely handled himself against KRS tbh. 💯

50 Cent on the BEEF DVD said "that shit was so hot we still had to fuck with it" and mind you he's from Jamaica, Queens. Fat Joe told the story on Hot 97 that when he attended the funeral of Prodigy from Mobb Deep who's from Queensbridge that someone said that Prodigy still hated KRS-ONE for what he did to MC Shan. The Bridge is Over, No Vaseline, Ether, and Hit 'em Up are like the most impactful diss tracks ever in hip-hop. Kris Parker and Scott La Rock didn't play. They let the world know in 1987 that The Bronx was the birthplace of hip-hop and that Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone (KRS-ONE)

QueensBridge ). The two radio stations were two Urban rival stations for NYC, Long Island, Southern Connecticut and Northern NJ. When you have time go and listen to MC Shans, “Kill That Noise” BDP’s, “South Bronx” and Cool C’s, “Juice Crew Diss” Cool C is from Philadelphia and was down with BDP. So is Cool C’s boy, Steady B( another Philadelphia rapper.). Word is Marley Marl and Juice Crew were originally signed to Pop Art Records in Philadelphia and something happen with their deal.

This was a diss to some of the members in the Juice Crew Marley Marl, MC Shan & Roxanne Shante'. After Shan came out with "The Bridge" most thought Shan was trying to say Queens started Hip Hop, but then KRS One came back with "South Bronx" to remind everyone it was the Bronx. Shan then put out "Kill That Noise" which made KRS One come back with "The Bridge Is Over". This beef was over once KRS put out this song although Shan wanted to respond Marley told him not too & he didn't.

@KingAmadTV, To understand the dis, you need to listen to MC Shan who was produced by Marley Marl. That piano riff is a famous reggae ridding from the 80’s, four notes that drove this rhythm. When this song was played in QB all the thugs and gangsta’s would sing the lyrics and blast it on their car sound systems, that’s how powerful a diss song this was, QB had no choice but to respect it.

Just a history note for the young ones, the melody that he is using to spit his own lyrics comes from none other than a song called "It's Still Rock N Roll to Me". It is a rock song done by Billy Joel back in the 80's. He used the pitch of his voice to match the melody. freaking genius idea. I love KRS 1! He is now a professor at a school of higher learning. He used to preach about knowing black history back in the days. He is the first person that I ever heard use the term edutainment. Those were the days dude!
