I watched that vhs tape for a job about 5 or 6 years ago when I was in my early twenties plus about 20 or so mre vhs I sat in the conference room all day watching them on a old box TV on the rolling stand like we had in elementary school haha

Long time heavy equipment and hydraulic mechanic here... all i gotta say is fuck that.. nothing there to stop it from flattening you, just because it moves slow doesnt mean it falls to earth slowly if something fails
The pressure on that little bitty toofer there in the back is pretty intense. You aught to put something down there before you destroy your slab. Traditionally shops that work on tracked equipment run steel plates for them to be on. They’ll trash your concrete lad.
Guy my buddy worked with was crushed by his empty dump box (on a Mack quad axle) crushed between top of frame rail and bottom of box. Leaning over while doing his pretrip. Rescue squad had to call his wife to come lay under the truck and say goodbye to him. EMTs knew when the box was lifted up, he would instantly bleed out.

I used to work with a diesel machanic and the one thing he would tell us and the crew is to never trust hydrolics. You can only trust solid material like steel to hold something up, but liquid is one o-ring away from blowing a hole in you or turning you or a limb into a pancake
I'm just glad he's preservationing it such a beautiful valuable tool... also i bet he makes a pretty cool ramp with it for jumping stuff accelerated by downhill but also brick on pedal stuff ... maybe a catch fence to divert the project iles from anything he wants to keep
Please dont sit under it like that, i run rock drills and you never know when one of those hydraulic cylinders will fail, it isnt always just a slow bleed, sometimes they fail completely and suddenly, you. Will not get a warning. Dont let the strength of these things fool you, they break all the time. Welds, cylinders, chains and cables...never trust them with your life when you dont need to.
This is why alot of people die young. Fucking around and finding out, watch out. I've worked with hydraulics in a few forms (mainly lifts and lifting equipment) seen a few accidents and been in a couple of close scrapes myself. Pressure or loss of doesn't care about you or your squishy bits. Please take care bro all seriousness
First rule of heavy equipment like this is you don’t go crawling underneath it. Hydraulics fail all the time. At the very least use several extreme heavy duty jackstands
As someone who works for a living, my life depends on hydraulics all the time. You have to trust it, or you won't get anything done. That doesn't mean be an idiot, and keep up with the maintenance of the equipment you use. Don't trust the next guy, he doesn't give a shit

This is a Komatsu D355 / a. Always smear a medium to largish banana on yourself so should the hydraulic system fail, you can slip on out. 1 - 2 medium to large Banananas
I really hope no one watches this and tries to copy it. Never trust a hydraulic system to hold. For one the system wasn't meant or designed to be used in that way and have seen rams fail and lines explode on brand new equipment.
Cut up some thick plywood into 2ft squares so you can use them as floor protectors. Place them under the rippers and blades corners so you don't tear up your concrete floor. You have a nice shop
@@jerrywilcox9890 I'm not saying OSHA can or should stop him. They shouldn't. Not their jurisdiction. But he should definitely listen to their advice regardless. I ain't out here encouraging activities that might keep someone from seeing their grandkids grow up because they put too much faith in an o-ring.
