I misread the 5 in the price tag as the dollar sign at first. :(

They are all too expensive but we buy them anyway. I have never regretted the purchase of a guitar from a money standpoint, I DO regret it when it turns out not to bond with me. But that also opens the door of opportunity to trade for something else on your "lust list". I try to keep the count down to the number of wall hooks. Does not always work out....... IF I loose a few bucks I just look at it as rent on the instrument for a bit. They almost always get improved in my hands so good deal for following owner. At least a full setup, fret level and crown, nut and saddle height/intonation, maybe more if needed.

You can totally hear the difference between the two Super D guitars. The one with the rosewood back and sides has a warm tone, while the Koa is more crisp and has a ring to it. Both have great tone and volume, but I prefer the Koa. I volunteer at the Musical Instrument Museum. If you're ever in Phoenix, hit me up and give you the grand tour. You'd love our Martin display. Okay, you'd love the whole rest of the museum as well.

I have a GPCPA4R, which is of course quite different, but still that GPC, and spruce top. I think the calrity at least in part, is a result of the construction, because it's the same. It is incredible for recording, because it has this piano-like quality, where every single note is clearly defined in a complex chord

I remember going in to a guitar store in Dublin over 30 years ago to look for an acoustic, couldn't afford a Martin guitar but played a couple of them in the store. Just couldn't believe how great they were, played another one some place else, again, great. Fantastic instruments, other brands don't come close in consistent quality. Best acoustics out there, IMO. Great channel.

I started on a Martin M-36 years ago, then put the Martin into storage and bought an Alvarez-Yairi with minor cosmetic damage as a 'beater' for taking onboard ships (I was in the Navy). A few years later, I pulled the Martin out of storage and hated it. The neck was way clubby compared to the A-Y. Sold the M-36 to a C&W player in Hawaii and took the A-Y on several deployments. To this day, the A-Y has the best neck of any guitar I've ever played, acoustic or electric. As for these guitars, the Inception all the way.

Thanks for playing them back to back . Its truly amazing how different the same body styles can sound. I wanted a new Martin back in 2011. I played 38 different D-18, D-28, D-35 before finally finding the exact tone/sound I was looking for. My son in law was with me and was beginning to think maybe I was crazy, but then they brought out an HD-28V . I strummed a chord and that was it. My son in law loudly said whow that one sounds different than the rest . He was exactly right and it what I was looking for and I bought it. Guess my point is, play as many as you can before choosing one. They are all 💯 amazing but one will completely capture you and you will belong to that guitar. 😂 PS; that John Mayer OM is a tone beast.

CEO7 had best looking fretboard. Super D Koa had best tones but I am currently playing a D35. Pretty similar to mine. OMJM: not a fan of the gray burst top but it does sound great. Not too many acoustics I have seen that I like a sunburst finish on, especially if odd colors. The exception is the brown sunburst over koa or ovangkol like a few Martins and Taylors have done. It was the reason I chose a J50 Gibson over a J45 some years back. As a kid my first guitar was a Framus Texan 12 string with sunburst. I sanded it off and refinished it in clear. The J50 came next and I still have it over 50 years later.

I have a "cheap" Martin, and it's still the second-most expensive guitar I've ever bought, and the third-most expensive guitar I've ever owned. To put that in perspective, the most expensive guitar I've ever owned was a gift, a Gibson Les Paul Studio, $1200. The most expensive guitar I've ever bought was a Chapman Ghost Fret Pro, $1000. My Martin (not sure of the model, but it's one of their cheaper guitars) was $900. Despite being in their cheaper line, it's still my favorite acoustic guitar I've ever owned, and likely ever played. I LOVE that guitar. I've had two Takamines and a Mitchel, my mom has an Ovation and one of those Esteban guitars. That "cheap" Martin blows all of them away. Yeah, we're po-folk; $1000 is a lot of money to us.

The reimagined series of Martins (the newer ones) are beautiful feeling and sounding guitars. The new thinner neck carve is better than any other acoustic brand IMO. I prefer the D18 to the other Martin’s too. It’s a very sweet sounding guitar compared to the 28 which is much boomier and striking - probably perfect for a bluegrass band where you want to be heard amongst other guitarists, but not for solo playing (IMO).
@Richard_Lush

I love the necks on my 70s D-28 and D-18 perfect for my hand. The width and fret combo fits my style of playing. I had a new 000-28 and I found it very bright. Guess I was used to a broken in acoustic sound wise. Beautiful guitar but don’t have another 30-50 yrs to break it in properly so sold it. Brazilian rosewood commanding such a premium still boggles my mind. I’ve had both on vintage guitars and to be honest don’t find it that much different than a good Indian rosewood. I’m not sure but if it’s Honduran wouldn’t it be almost the same thing? Maybe my ears just aren’t that nuanced. Anyone find that? The differential price wise is crazy. I know it’s really limited and getting a license of some sort is probably difficult but I’ve seen the non Brazilian version of a guitar go for say 10k and the Brazilian 30k. Another great video though. Thanks 👍

I am one of those guys that played electric all my life. I got the Martin SC10-E. I know, I know that's not a Martin. I also own a Harley Davidson V-Rod I get to hear it is not a "Real Harley" it's water cooled. But the SC10-E is the most amazing acoustic I have ever played. It's a "Cheap Martin" it was 1299.00. The new neck system is great I can hit the higher frets easy. The quality is the best I own. It sounds so good and so simple to play you forget your playing an acoustic. Of course it's still an Acoustic so it is harder to play but much easier than my Seagull. I get the Martin "thing" now. The SC line is a new concept from Martin and they nailed it!

I found 2 classical guitars I could not afford: I played both of them, then I bought both of them....The rest is history because I liked the sound quality and, how balanced they were. I can reveal one of the names: "Cordoba" Custom left handed model, yes I'm left handed guitar player. I never blinked an eye because I already played both of them over the last 15 plus years, the longer I play them, the greater the sound. The main thing is this: I know I'll get many years of playability with my 2 selected classical left handed guitars. If you know what your looking for, don't be afraid to pay the price, as long as it fits your needs and, comfort. I've played guitar since I was 7 years old, I'm now already 62, I'm not a star but, I will pay for what I want because it fits me.
