I am a survivor of Domestic Abuse. I can say that I’ve been struggling so much with with everything that has been mentioned in this beautiful talk. I prayed before conference asking Heavenly Father these questions, if it was my fault? Maybe I could have done better. Maybe my husband would have loved me if I would have been better. I asked if I would have a future. If I will ever heal from all the pain I feel and carry with me everyday. And this talk… was exactly what I needed to hear. Heavenly Father spoke right through you! And all of our church leaders this conference! Thank you so much for being worthy to be inspired by the spirit! I love you all!

Elder Keaton, as a community mental health therapist who often works with trauma survivors, I thank you with all my heart for your inspiring words of hope, healing and exhortation. In the final analysis, indeed it is in and through the healing power of Our Savior and redeemer and deliverer Jesus Christ, and His atonement and mediation that all wounds are bound up and reconciliation is complete.

I have been abused my whole life, and I have been working on healing for close to a decade now. This message means so much to me. I am almost 70 years old and have been to more General conferences that I care to admit. I must say I have never heard such a wonderfully direct and to the point talk as this one . It's like the prophets of old who spoke directly and plainly to the people of their day. Right to the point; end of report. Thank you, we needed it.

Elder Kearon I hope you know that God used you to answer people's prayers! Just about an hour before you spoke I was praying and pleading with the Lord for healing for me and my family. I asked God to rescue me and then when you said that I have in fact already been rescued I felt God's love and power penetrate me to the core. God answered my prayer through you!

I'm begging and praying local leaders and congregations listened to this talk VERY carefully instead of "well, it doesn't apply to me.. *tune out*". I have suffered narcissistic abuse and emotional incest, and I have yet to have a bishop that understands what it did to me. I wish I had something hopeful and positive to say, but I'm struggling. I say this as I have been and still am a moderator for 3 different channels here on YT that address narcissistic abuse, but I tell you- NONE of them are hosted by members or have any reference to the Church, whatsoever. I live in a remote, rural, "emerging city" area. I am almost 48 years old, I am getting some support and therapy, but as far as church meetings and the people there, I feel utterly alone. I am still active and participating- but it's only my ministering angels- departed friends and family- who are keeping me going in any real spiritual sense. And of course, my master Jesus. But I feel no support at church meetings. Sorry guys. I am rather weary of being a "learning experience" for ward members in my stake.

As a trauma therapist I have seen too much abuse in families. This message is spot on and we all need His help to eliminate abuse from our members and communities. I have a constant flow of women and children who have been abused who blame themselves and think they are less. They are not. Thank you dear brother for this timely message. It has helped so many.

As someone who has been abused, abandoned and neglected by more than one LDS husband, and felt the shame and fear, which Elder Keaton spoke of, I appreciated this talk so much. I DO wish he would have spoken to church leaders in priesthood and relief society to reach out and get real help for these victims. While I appreciate local church leaders’ efforts, they need significant education on domestic violence. Some of the shame and fear I suffered was because leaders didn’t know how to guide me. I am grateful I figured out how to reach out to the One who heals when no one else seems to understand.

I was a weeping mess through most of it because I needed the reminder that the traumatic things that have happened to me are not my fault, were completely undeserved, and can be overcome completely. This was one breathtaking talk. This was the very talk I prayed for before conference. I needed to hear something. I have been abuse free for only few years and I'm upper 40s. Though God provided me a way to escape... the scars are still very much there. This was PERFECT 🙏💕🙏💕🙏

Hugs, same position over here. Learning that it's not our fault and how to recognize those warning signs is the most difficult of journeys. Finding a male friend you feel safe enough with to get into water, who introduced you to the idea the church wasn't a cult, all in 1 person is a miracle. Little miracles like that make it 100% clear how much HF loves me and wants to make a workable path to follow him while in abuse recovery at the same time.

@@Tginya I'm sorry you had to deal with that too😔. It's hard and you feel trapped but once you get out of a situation you then realize just how bad it was. You're no longer being manipulated or blindsided by gaslighting. Totally worth it💯💯💯. I haven't been brave enough to even entertain the idea of dating. After being in such a horrific situation for so long I'm just enjoying my time with my kids without having to make them compete for attention from another male I might meet. I honestly love being single and may stay that way the rest of my life, who knows 🤷. No rush though 😅. Blessings to you on your journey to healing 🤗🤗🤗

This is my life in a nutshell. I was an abortion that never happened (my 'mothers' words. My parents were evil and abusive in ways that were wicked and they damaged me beyond belief and in turn I have made so many mistakes. Too many mistake to count and much is shameful. I am now 48years old and I have no idea who I am or who I should be. I struggle with every single day of my life. I was sent this to listen to and I have cried and while I have cried I have had this burning heat inside my body.i can feel it in my back and into my chest and heart. I struggle to think anyone cares and to trust enough to hand myself over to God.I am not a member of the Church BTW but it is something I have been pondering.

Nothing a wife child or husband might do or say makes them deserve to be beaten. I have watch your talk 10 times a day since I first heard it live. My Amazing wife, mother to our four children, love of my life and best friend of 22 years was hunted, groomed and sexually abused by a family man in our stake, that we thought was a close family friend. The police and church got involved and nothing was done about it. This has been a horrible experience for the whole family Especially her who was Threatened, manipulated and abused. I was her first kiss and her only love, she feels like she isn’t good enough anymore. There has been multiple suicide attempts and Hospital visits. No family should have to suffer such pain. The only way we can heal is through the atonement of Jesus Christ. We are trying to forgive, but it is so painful hard. But we will keep trying. Thank you

As a sexual abuse victim as a child I always felt it was my fault, god didn’t love me as much or I was abandoned.. the moment this talk came on I near cried!!! This talk was MEANT for me and I thank my Heavenly Father for sending this talk I’ve already listened to it 4 times today after the talk was over.

This talk has been a Godsend. It's about time someone got this real about serious abuse issues in the Church. Thank you Elder Kearon. Thank you, thank you, thank you! All I ever hear is how I should _choose_ to forgive. If it was a choice I'd have done it decades ago. Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to forgive when this has me trapped? That's like telling someone who is being strangled to let go of the hand. We need help!!! Please help us!

Sam if you want to use the word victim I guess every person that lived upon the Earth qualifies to be a victim. We all have trials and tribulations throughout life. Whether we did it to ourselves or someone else did it. Every person has a story. Only way you can be a victim is if you just lay down and die. If you refuse to be a victim even though somethings happened : you can put in any words you would like In this sentence. You hand it over to the Lord because his yoke is easy. You give the Lord the word victim this way your not the victim anymore. Your life will change for the better as long as you don't consider yourself a victim. Once you give the Lord that mindset of a victim it no longer belongs to you or is part of your life anymore. A victim is helpless. A victim has fallen prey to the Wolves of the Earth. Jesus Christ will heal you and your heart and then bless you with a brand-new heart. All of us is damaged goods. Humble yourself before the Lord, I can promise, the more you give , the more the Lord gives. This is what is called the cycle of happiness. Instead of using the word victim use the word damaged goods if you become a victim then you give Satan a green light to pound on you night and day and put destructive thoughts into your mind. Being a victim will suppress the spirit where it has a hard time spending time with you. Always pray for discernment and inspiration and how to recognize it when it comes , this is very important. Always ask for knowledge and Truth. Reading the scriptures will give you power to overcome the fiery darts of the adversaries of life. Believe me there are some very cruel people with cruel language. Always pray for more faith and strength to overcome the obstacles of the world. Have a prayer in your heart constantly if possible even for the little old lady or man having a hard time getting out of their vehicle. Then help them, help others. Try everyday When you pray, ask your gracious Heavenly Father, how can you serve the Lord today. What can I say and do for others. I promise you you will be amazed what comes out of your mouth lol. Pharmaceuticals are expensive. The Lord's healing power is free for are taking if we would like. Ask for a blessing. Never become a victim and never lay down and die. You can become weak-minded if you were a victim. And it can take a lifetime to recoup the strong mind you had before. Be patient because it May take a few years. This way you don't just put a Band-Aid over the Broken Heart. You must stay away from anger and Hate and judgment! I would listen to this talk, at least two or three times a year. Each time you hear this talk , the Holy Ghost will reveal a great many more things to you. Elder Holland has a great talk also. I will confess that Mental Health is a hard mountain to climb but it is doable through the hands of Our Lord. Most of all be grateful every day for this trial in your life, growth is hard. When you start getting near the top of the Mountain , you will be, thick-skinned and Bulletproof. I love cats talk.

That's so correct, especially when in my case I was blamed for being an individual that I'am not! A total "travesty" of the "Canadian Justice System" ! Unbelievable in Canada in 2020/2021! It was like being involved in a "Suspense Thriller" Movie in my Home City! Now, I admitted to my part in this "episode", but I'am in no way what I was accused of, which was Not the final outcome for me. But, it all cost me alot of "pain", "anguish", "sorrow", "shame" and ultimately money which I really didn't have. So, please "Heavenly Father", I repent and ask you, from the bottom of my heart for " your forgiveness " ! In the name of "Jesus Christ", "Amen".

My brother used to be a hard-core drug abuser. This talk was given in the middle of his addiction. At the time, it made me teary, but that was it. 3 months ago, I rewatched this, and I wept while listening. In the time between the first and second time I ljstened, I've been slapped, punched, cussed out, swore at, watched seizures from overdoses, seen suicide attempts, been blamed for suicide attempts, seen nights where he passes out from drinking, and seen some amazing miracles. Including this talk. This has always been my favorite conference talk, but it was cemented when I watched the second time, as I shook from crying so hard. This is the best talk that I have ever heard

When I was a child I suffered from family violence & other abuse through out my li. Now I am a church I am more stronger now. Sometimes my past come to mind when reminders appear in the form of news, verbal abuse etc.

I wept! I needed this message so badly. I have escaped Violence and aggression, it is my hope to help other women who are being abused do the same. Thank you Elder Kearon for your words. I believe--I hope--that this talk will be a critical turning point for me. I felt while listening that God does not consider my struggle to trust or feel happy as "faithlessness," or my fault, but as the consequence of another's actions. He is not holding me accountable for that damage, and is willing to let me take as much time as I need to build trust with Him even though He did nothing to lose that trust. He will be there constantly and allow me to come to Him as I feel ready.

This is my favorite, and most hated talk from conference thus far. Favorite because it was so healing. Hated because it feels like a like and rubbing that fact that others can get help but I can't into my face. Like someone pointing out the wounds, then rubbing salt into them. It's a wonderful talk, and I will listen to it often.

I’m so sorry that you have the feeling others can get help but *you* can’t. I struggle with faith and I’m not the best Saint. But I do know the power of prayer. What works for me is…Pour out my heart to God. Even angry feelings, frustration, doubt. And I start to turn around from the things I don’t know to the things I do know, even if they are general. That something out there (Heavenly Father to most of you) is all knowing all powerful and all loving. And eventually if I am honest and open I feel some of that divine love through prayer, and something happens that helps me get a little more of what I need. I pray for you to find peace, hope, and comfort. And to have your needs met.

Do not struggle with faith any more. Repent daily w/o trying to analyze If you have sin or not. Then remember that FAITH that moves mountains is a Gift of the Spirit. We don't engineer it, is given to us if we desire it. Is good to follow this patterns found in the New Testament, from 2 seekers of Jesus: LORD, STRENGTHEN MY faith with THINE FAITH. LORD HELP MY UNBELIEF. In others words let the Lord know our desires: ENRICH ME OH LORD, WITH THE GODLY ATRIBUTES THAT THOU HAS PREPARE FOR ME AS YOUR SON/DAUGHTER, SINCE BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD. All Cannons are filed with this spiritual treasures call patterns. Our Latter Days Pioneers left us plenty of them. So have all Prophets & prophets. We must seek them and use them as the Spirit guides us to do so. Let's remember Nephi's counsel: LIKEN THE SCRIPTURES UNTO YOU. Then wait for the due time of the LORD for He shall due if we were sincere. In the name of Jesus Chrisst. Amen.
