Of course. These clowns who cry are the same who think they deserve 100K a year to flip burgers. Lazy privileged clowns who hate successful people because they are to pathetic to do anything themselves.
Love this im really happy as a long time viewer seeing 2 people who love gaming rising above all the hate and actually having a good time and doing what they love there needs to be more moments like this
Almost everyone who has downsized a huge collection that they had just for the sake of having it, has felt such relief at scaling down to a curated collection that is important to them. You are going to get so much joy in rearranging your shelves so you can display and use your treasured items. Congrats. I'm happy for you.
90% of my owned games, I still have not played. And the other 10% would be my curated list. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of that 90% until I've played them. But, after playing them there wouldn't be any attachment to them. Like Shadow of Mordor is a game I bought really cheap. And if I had played it, I could part with it easy peasy. But, Ocarina of Time (N64 cart), even though I would play the game on a more recent device, I would keep as a showpiece.
Finally about time some of these games can be available to people that actually want them. Rather then being hoarded by people doing nothing but collecting dust.
I sold off a major chunk of my collection the end of last year it was beyond a freeing feeling, I only kept my favorites. I actually enjoy my collection now.
I recently sold most of my game collection and I felt the same way - relieved. I didn’t realize how mentally cluttered I felt until after I sold my stuff. I think I may have mistakenly based my personal value on my collection. It’s weird to come out and say it like that, but I also noticed I wasn’t as anxious anymore after it was all gone too. Maybe the minimalist lifestyle is the way to go?!
To me the games are going bad CD root and game cards to are going to work any more better off staying way from game collections. I just like having run & everything digital.
I can understand to am extent being a collector myself. I don't know if I would say all my personal value is connected to it but their is something intimate about it. It's a part of you that you built. I feel like theirs just soo much weight and how you see Collector and your identity is part of it. Once you give it up I feel like you do clean up.
Most of yall are addicts, not much different than drug addicts. You are addicted to the chemical reaction in your brain from collecting. Glad to see another addict, stop.
My brother and I did the same last summer and we both said the same thing. I still have my memories and I hope someone else can make some new ones for themself too.
I did the same thing with my vinyl collection a couple years back. Offloaded a little over 4000 records, but damn if I don’t love the records I still have even more. There’s always someone out there who wants to give the love and time to the things we cannot
@@jackhoff7880 Thats the point. Most people throwing money towards collections are buying them for the sole purpose of reselling them and making profit. I get your point, but the OP isn't saying it's the guy who bought them that will enjoy them. It could easily be the people purchasing from the reseller as well.
Thank you for clarifying what so many haters needed to hear ever since you and Caleb made the announcement for this i seen so many negative comments on how your getting ripped off and all this stuff these people need to grasp at the end of the day it is not there deal being made its yours if you are happy that's all that matters on top of that any place that sells stuff is going to have to male a deal under market value to actually make a profit no one is going to buy market value then sell over because for starters it inflates the market and 2 its morally wrong I would support a reseller looking for deals way before a scalper looking to inflate the market for there personal gain also this talk of Caleb not being a gamer is also not true and im happy you pointed that out as well The sad part is at the end of the day the people who need to hear this won't want to so its sadly falling on deaf ears but im very happy with the honest truth being said for once so hopefully this will silence some people on the subject
@@danielkay1781 those toys he collects from the 80s that originally sold for a dollar and keeps them in packages is going to take up way more space and be even more cluttered junk lol.
You have to look at long term. 10-20 years from now your ROMS in you Nes or Sega ETC will go bad and fail. Disc Rot is a thing I have had some of my Sega Saturn games not play anymore for that reason. And no the disc was not damaged or scratch completely mint!!!! These games and older console are not built to last FOREVER!!! Kind of have to pick your battles. Market is high right now and depending on when you bought your games could make some serious cash. Pay down on your house, buy a nice car, college fund for kids, go on a nice trip. You get where I'm going with this.
Really relate to this, I’ve been selling a load of old games that are valuable and I don’t have fond memories for. I think game collecting is great fun, but sometimes you need to question what makes you happy - really enjoyed this!
Man honestly as long as both parties are happy then just go for it. Glad you feel better after you let it go. I think I’m going to do the same with my guitar collection. It was fun for a while but honestly it gets overwhelming.
Large collections of anything after awhile, tend to become a shackle to the leg. Folks selling off collections of stuff happens all the time. People just feel freed. It’s a good feeling.
I'm overwhelmed by the amount of games that I have available to me. Someday I wish I was very limited to what I can play, then when I finish it, I can move on to another game because right now I start new game, don't finish them, then start a new game and try to decide if I should finish it.
As long as you got your bag, and got what you are happy with, that's all that matters. It just sucks that the retro market isn't very affordable anymore if you really want to start collecting. Emulation lol
@@Gr00t affordable vs cheap are two different things can we afford 25$ game and is 5$ cheap? So it's different perspective in life. Does it suck better games have doubled or tripled what we use to pay .. all point to yes.
Got rid of all my games, vinyl and CDs years ago and never once looked back. I realized that I was collecting for the sake of collecting, and rarely even played the games (or listened to the vinyl) that I collected.
He wasn’t just buying your games, he was providing a service of getting them off your hands for a fair price. People pay for convenience all the time and there’s nothing wrong with that
LOL, providing a service getting them off his hands??? Dude it’s not hard to sell retro videogames. I don’t know if you know but the Market is Red Hot and things are selling for well beyond what they are worth. Phoenix Re Sale wants to buy things on the cheap so he can turn around and sell it to someone else for way more money. He is only in it for the money. Him and others like him are the reason why the Retro Market has got out of hand. RGT 85 didn’t need a favour to get rid of his games
@@paulhowse6169 the reason the retro market is out of hand is that people want to pay high prices for retro games. Seems like that’s too simple for u to understand so you need a villain
To sum it up you got ripped off and you’re fine with it. This dude gave you $5000 and he’ll make $25000 off of it. It is what it is, that’s his way of making an income and you moved on from having thousands of dollars of video games sitting in your house collecting dust. It is what it is, life moves on, the end
@@SoulforSale well dont worry your not gonna hoard everything forever either your kids or grandkids or significant others will sell your collection for starbucks and dunkin doughnuts mark my words I seen it in real life

Right before the pandemic, I sold all of my GameCube, PS1 and gameboy games, along with anything else Nintendo. After I purchased a switch, I knew that would replace anything retro I used to love. 6 years in and the switch is still my go-to, don’t miss any of the retro stuff.
You're never going to get the full value of your collection by selling it in a lot. That's just how it is. I'm thinking of selling my record collection, and I want to make sure I can get my money's worth, even if it doesn't equal the total value. This is for the people who are saying he got ripped off. Clearly he wasn't. Edit: Also, the weight off of your shoulders must be mighty! Obviously this collection was obviously weighing you down, and at one point consumed your life. Good for you for growing.
There are sadly way too many people who need to hear this but wont want to way to many haters over this now that its done and over with maybe people might shut up about it but man i love how this went so well that the haters are gonna have to take the L on this for once 😂
@@wmoule Exactly. Buying anything in bulk is always going to be cheaper. As you said it's a risk and 99% of investments are made with hopes of making profit. If you bought every item for its current market value you wouldn't be able to make money. You get it my dude.
@@BazookaTooth707 would support a reseller making a deal below market value then sells for current market value before someone who pays below or exact then sells it for way over any day a reseller or company has to make a profit and there not going to do that paying full price and that's what the haters are not comprehending
@@Assassin-ys5vw 100% hit the nail on the head. Either way, the opinions of others on someone's personal business dealings is lame. If the seller and buyer are happy with the outcome that's really all that matters. Most of these people are just upset with the idea of flippers in general. They're mad the market has become super inflated. That's just the name of the game. The market speaks for itself, and if people are willing to spend exorbitant prices, then why wouldn't flippers sell for said amount? The customer/product availability set the market. Most of my collection is basically worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it at the end of the day.
"the stuff you own ends up owning you" I know what you mean, went through the same years ago, and I'm still playing games and buy new ones I personally like, while I live in my forest cabin as a "poor man" and bought an old farmhouse with lots of land to start an off grid in the mountains. And I feel rich, own land, have no debt, am surrounded by loving dogs and living nature,... And spend my sunny days outside, away from society, playing my Switch, not serving a master.
Good for you man Honestly, I realized I had no need for old games when I found the world of upscaling and texture upgrades etc The gaming community has such passionate people who love these games and are able to breathe new life into our favorites.
@@atomicbrat879 ??? He's realistic. Also, your health system is an absolute scam. You should be proud of him to openly talk about it. Might actually bring change in the long run.
I'm selling a 6 figure video game collection and completing the inventory, and the more buyers buy in bulk, brings more & more happiness. After collecting for about 20 years, I’m exhausted, and my backlog has become a burden more than anything. I’m happy to see resellers find good homes for these games. With twin boys coming, the money from hoarding is welcomed & deserved. 😂
Would love to see how you feel in like 3 months... It'll be interesting to see if you feel the same then. I hope you still do... Looking forward to see the next chapter on this journey.
I've been watching you for a little while RGT, but I'm proud of you tbh, video games are collectibles don't get me wrong, or even things you can pass down to other generations of family, but you did the most of the collection, you played the games, held on until the value that it brings and you sold it! That's how it should be done! By the way I love when you said "big money" "adult money" many people can't relate and that had me on floor laughing hahahaha
Hope this helps you with all the medical bills. My daughter suffered from seizures when she was little(better now) and I sold my Saturn games to cover her bills. You look alot healthier and happier now and Im glad youre doing ok!
It’s in the hands of the people to change that. Maybe that’s what a European never would or can understand. America is a fantastic country, but it would be so much better then.
@@stevenr224 If you receive a service you should have to pay for it. Yeah the prices are probably out of control. But there definately should be a cost.
@@joshnovakthen pay with taxes, as most other places do 😂 it is a fraction of the price and much fairer, as no one wishes bad health on themselves and it can’t be helped. My parents would be bankrupt and I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t living in the UK, I have been in and out of hospital since I was 7 years old (now 25), having multiple tests, surgeries etc. The US prices are ridiculous too and some of the things they charge you for make no sense - holding your baby after labour, how can that be charged for?
5:50 it makes sense because letting go of attachements is supposed to give a sense of relief. It's something that could be a challenge to people that value physical art/music/ games but there comes a time where one needs to let go. We are all temporary stewards of our possessions.
I really like PhoenixResale! I enjoy his channel! It's not a rip off if you both walk away happy! I'd love if you did a follow up video down the road how you feeling / adjusting to the collection gone!
You do realize the title of this video makes it look like the guy ripped you off, and if no one bothers to watch it, then they're gonna think they should avoid doing business with PhoenixResale
its really awesome how not only was he willing to buy your collection he was also really compassionate and knew exactly what this meant to you! im glad you had someone that cared that much
My physical game collection was aquired over forty years. It filled a 12'X14' room, no windows with shelves lining all four walls, floor to ceiling. I sold, like you did, to one person - take all. I know if I had sold it in smaller lots or individually (heaven forbid), I would have made many thousands more dollars. But that's how things work if one doesn't want to spend another year or so sorting and selling. Now my entire collection is digitally archived and I play from SD cards on modded, original consoles.
CLICKBAIT! Yout title litteraly says ripped me off in title then you say in the video you didnt get ripped off and yes in the end he did rip you off since you wont say what the total value was and how much you got for it. But yea its a relief for your getting rid of your stuff because you you had so much and you didnt have enough room to display it like some people on other channels that might have rooms to display they stuff like some of my dedicated youtubers out there.
Mercari+bubble mailers+USPS scheduled pickups is the best use of time. It's a lot of work for people who don't sell online though, I have been doing it for 15yrs or so. Games are easy to mail but it's still a lot of BS to deal with, it's best to just hand it off, collect some cash and go on your way. People can say "I can sell this online for blah blah" but they don't even know where to start and likely never will. I have seen people try it and totally F' up shipping and lose money and time.
A bat with your name in it was a nice detail. If everything went fine, he could present it to you as a nice memento. If it didn't, he could've hit you with a bat that had your name in it - there's something poetic about it...

I went through something similar about 15 years ago albeit on a much smaller scale. Had about 250 hard rock/metal CD's, 100 or so DVD's, slew of video games both retro and modern, couple boxed consoles, etc. Everything was absolutely mint and complete. One day I just looked at all that "stuff" and decided that I didn't need or want it anymore. Since then, I play EVERYTHING via emulation through my PC and I download or stream all the music and movies I want. It was a complete game changer in so many ways and I'll never go back to collecting or hoarding crap again.
The sale of one item would be more than selling it in a massive amount of stuff, I would expect to take a hit when selling a lot of items, as its going to take him time to list and sell them and might get stuck or loose on some as well. You did well getting rid of a lot for what you think was a good price
that last comment was and has to be the best comment on RU-vid of all time yo!! for real yuh that was the bomb diggey and beyond with it, aint never seen anybody say anything to true and real to life as that. everything about it should very much much wake up ..... somebody! but besides that though, it good and great to see somebody moving on in a new direction to make yourself feel better about yourself, its what everybody doesn't want to say about what also makes this world go round, moving in a new direction for the better. hope everything goes a lot more smoother with it know yo. love the show yo! keep on, keeping on!
After watching your first video about this made me and bro bro sell our game collections.... We were both just sitting on them, not evening looking at them and thought both thought they need to go and it feels amazing
I honestly feel like your shelves look waaaay better now! Back when your shelves were loaded, it was difficult to distinguish any games from the collection. Now instead of "just another collection", it has personality. You've kept what you wanted to, and you can display them in a neat and pretty cool way. (edit) You mention this at the end of your video, so I guess we're in the same boat!
Good on you man I sold my retro games recently as well because emulation is far better and easier I plan to use emulators on my steam deck once I buy it that is

Hi RGT, Glad to hear you feel good about selling your game collection. I don’t believe I will ever sell my collection, the entire collection is connected to too many memories for me. Once these games are gone there gone forever. Keep up the good work.
I think the market bubble is definitely going to burst soon. I've seen a lot of collectors selling off their collections and I feel like eventually there will be a point where there's suddenly a lot of games on the market again that the market just goes down again. Maybe that's a good thing for the younger gamers out there that want to collect like us older folk but feel like they can't cause they're so expensive, maybe it's their time to collect before the market goes way up again. Cycle of life I guess? Idk, I could be wrong and the market could just end up getting worse, wouldn't surprise me either. I don't collect for everything. I decided to collect only for PS1, PS2, and GameCube. The consoles I grew up with. Do I have other stuff? Of course I have a few Wii games, Xbox games, and Switch stuff but that's not my focus just stuff I wanted to play on those platforms. When you don't try to go for everything and just go for the stuff that means something to you and you actually care about it makes you a lot happier and it's a huge weight off your shoulders.
i wish this was true, but prices keep climbing. i sold over 150 of my games and the games i want just keep going up in value. i just want pokemon yellow and some side pokemon games for gameboy
@FunSize141 Fair, honestly, and I did say it won't surprise me if it got much worse, but at the same time, games weren't costing 600+ 15 years ago. Maybe a select few did go for that, but these days, it feels like people will price any game at an absurd price to see who will bite.
I’m so interested to see how you come off on Caleb’s channel 🤣 and a bat for a gift seems like a genius way to bring a bat to meet someone you don’t know lmao
I'm happy for you life is short and it's all about what you make of it. If selling your collection makes you happy then do it. I collect switch games because it makes me happy and a lot of the older games I emulate because I can upscale it and play them portable (steam deck). Well congrats and enjoy your new freedom of space lol. Continue the great work.
No, not everybody who sells a game is a reseller. Resellers specifically buy games at low prices to sell them at premium prices. In general, resellers are scumbags. You're definitely right about the whole "ripped off" discussion. The issue is that resellers usually buy from people who don't know the value and get completely screwed over. That's why everybody hates them, and justifiably so, in my opinion.
I'd also say "resellers" are people that make a living or make a meaningful portion of their income from reselling. If I sell a retro game on ebay once a year because I don't want the game anymore and want funds to buy something else, I don't think I should be called a "reseller" lol
I am anxiously waiting for the mini pc video. It is something I am very interested in as the price of the retro stuff has gotten out of hand. I was only buying games I had attachment to and then that got even out of control. A mini pc to play everything however is a solid investment.
Respect the hustle on both sides…if the buyer and seller have mutually agreed upon prices that works for both parties that’s all that should matter. I started checking Caleb out through Retro Rick so excited for this content collabo. Shawn I hope this helps knock down some of those med expenses.
Caleb is a super nice dude. It's okay to not be a fan, but to hate someone? That's just silly. Don't watch him then. Good work unloading that collection, your always honest videos and putting yourself in a better spot RGT.
Tells us in the video they agreed on a price, sold his collection to him and it made him happy and gave him a sense of relief and he wasn't ripped off by PR. Titles the video "He RIPPED ME OFF For My Games" Makes sense.
As much as people dislike him you absolutely can't deny how much of a genuinely nice guy Caleb is and he really treats his friends like family and even helps them out with their own collection just for no reason at all
