Run Nitty is one of the best battlers of all time. Right now he’s pretty much universally recognized as a top 3-5 battler. All time with him is weird bc battle rap still has their pioneers at the top of most of these lists. Nitty is definitely top 10 all time worthy though.

28:52 this whole section is wild (to me anyway) so here is the full breakdown. A ward is the opponent and he is a part of the 4 horsemen (Christian) battle rap group he references each of the biblical horsemen by name and color in separate lines... War (red horse), Conquest (white horse), Famine(black horse), Death (pale horse) lead dump... see RED (shot and leaking blood) vision go BLACK (unconscious) you go from the WHITE horse (A Ward had been doing extremely well in battle rap, he was on a run/'conquest') to the Pale one (Rum Nitty is here to kill his run) and the "Christian with a Nail Gun" is a nice finisher that gets everyone's attention even if they didn't get the previous scheme

The best is subjective…nobody is undefeated so it really comes down to what style you prefer. Nu Jersey Twork is real talented, Geechi Gotti is like a gangster Charlie Clips, Daylyt is talented, Roc is solid pause, Surf was up there before he got locked up, Rim Nitty as you can see is phenomenal…Eazy the Block Captain is 🔥, there’s a few guys that are up there

This is me trying to give context for some parts: T Top who has the nickname “the Bear” for some reason is the high calorie individual in the clips, that’s why there’s a lot of “top bars” John John Da Don is a battle rapper who gets accused of stealing bars even his signature move “the multiple choice” The skinny guy with the dreads and white tee he was battling is named “Chef Trez” is known for doing rebuttals (aka free styling countering bars somebody said in a previous round) The white giy with the hat is A Ward, a Christian battle rapper who also is known for rebuttals and also has a small clique of other Christian battle rappers Also Loaded Lux aka suit guy, did his Harlem hospital line which shook the building so hard he forgot his next line (choked) and had to cut his round short due to that.

The 3 things many battle rappers get big responses from that you may or may not get are 1. references to other battlers or their history that you don't know (they do a lot of name flips), 2. sports references and 3. movie references (the McDowel's line was from Coming to America movie and Belly line was from Belly movie...they watch a lot of TV and movies which become punchlines).

I wouldn't necessarily say that they watch a lot of movies they just know the age of the audience. Most battle rappers and fans of battle rap are all over the age of 25 so they happen to reference a lot of things they(and the fans) grew up watching so alot of those punches are gonna hit, especially if its something considered a black classic. Usually anyone born after 95 has probably never seen those TV shows or movies unless their parents(or another family member) made them watch. I think that's why he's missing those bars, the other ones are just like you said unless you're a true fan of battle rap and actually keep up with the culture you won't get any of the name flip bars or anyting referencing an old battle or a Blog

@@andrew36345 I agree with you, they do tailor their verses for the audience but those references are filled with those films they all grew up on, and specifically those street-centric movies and black cinema (though we're getting more anime, disney and sci-fi/fantasy references now). You/re right though, if you were born after 95 many of the references will go over your head, just like the sports bars (ie. Mook vs Young Hot on the MJ compared to Iverson)

I’m telling you right now dog, most of the bars in battle rap are then names of the opponent or referencing old battles that happened. So to understand certain bars just means you have to watch more battle rap. But i appreciate this raw reaction. It reminds me of when i started watching. Salute to you. Also who’s the best is all subjective. I’m from the west coast so i think rum nitty and geechi are top two right now. Then you have tay roc, surf, chess, nu jersey twork. Its whoever you like more. But don’t feel bad for not knowing certain bars because they are usually something that happened in other battles or happened within the culture. Just keep watching and enjoying and you’ll soon catch everything!

Ruth’s Chris is a steakhouse. Turbo lifts a broom like magic in the breakdancing movie “Breakin” which had a sequel “Breakin 2 electric bugaloo”. A-Ward is Christian so Rum said he’ll basically crucify him with a nail gun. “Take the top off of your old bey (Old Bay seasoning) it’s open season.” “A buck stuck in Shine, dear in the headlights” even more relevant cause he was battling K-Shine.
