Yes you are right. Gareth Southgate did very well, and got the best results of all England managers. All the best to him. He should have been given more time by his critics to build a world beating side. I personally believe that Gareth was called by God to be the England manager. And therefore will return, after a long break, when his replacements enevitably fail to do better than him.
Listening to sky sports pundits and the FA, you'd think Southgate was a great manager and the best thing since sliced bread! Us fans know differently. The football was terrible and his defensive tactics stifled all our attacking talent!
Southgate has won more competitive internationals than any coach in our history. Winning is all that matters and he's done it more than anyone else. He is objectively the best coach England have ever had. Back to back Euro finals, and WC semi final in between. People like you are the problem, not Gareth.
I love how people think that we have a squad good enough to guarantee victory in international tournaments. We have some brilliant players, but there are better squads around now (and in the past) that never even got to a final.
@@palatialslumlord4938 yes actually, what else has he done? Go on, show how little you know about football by saying Brighton…..make my day🤣. Oh and btw, no one says LOL anymore unless you are 6🤣🤣
@@matt94alexander32he took us further than ANYONE twice in the Euros and further than we’ve been in 28 years in the World Cup. People act like such spoiled brats. I can tell you’re all 12 year old man city fans.
One question. If the next manager fails to reach the finals of any upcoming tournaments but tactically better than Southgate than will we consider it a success ??? I think luck is also an important factor and Southgate had that.
How tf did he do a good job, he won nothing in 8 years and never really got the team looking good either, people who think he did a good job need to go back and watch England bang average team with some of the best players in the world = crap manager
he did well in his first year , but we could all see he had lost the plot 3 years ago, he was never going to be a winner. we played half a good match over 7 games. He had no idea of how to beat Spain and played out of form and injured players Another wasted squad. Bye bye and shut the door behind you.

Klopp or Pep or Carlo or Mancini or Conti or Lippi will end 62 yrs of hurt at the UK based Euro28, (if not at the USA World Cup 2026, but Messi & Argentina will probably defeat 3 🦁 in that final) Gareth laid the foundation of future success & is appreciated by the majority of 3 🦁 fans. A nice guy who did his best, that's all you can ask for. I think he will win a cup with a nice club like Cyrille Regis's WBA. Prof A.G.Haq
My namesake with sensible words as always. He was mentioned in the post Euros final broadcast of Men in Blazers on RU-vid. I mentioned his Cup Winners Cup winning goal in comments, as people just talk of his substition in Euros for Linekar.
What can be done? Losing? What are you talking about? This team literally scraped to the final due to individual players moments, not tactical masterclasses. If Gareth was more positive, we win that... he will live to regret not doing so.
This interview is pragmatically diplomatic 😅 let’s be honest he was never a tactician but he was a good politician and get together coach. Wish him the best
Now its time for Karry Hane to step down as England captain and should retire, his inclusion would never give England the International trophy 🏆 they'll collect only runners-up medal 🏅 at the finals........
@@wildsurfer12 I would like Klopp even as a United fan, but I seen an interview with him and he's just bought a nice house abroad and looks like he wants to relax a while.
The guy brought politics into football, won nothing and made us into the most boring and loathed team at the tournaments. He was massively paid and delivered no silverware. That’s the reality away from the platitudes and brown nosing.
Everyone do you not remember the previous years before Gareth Southgate !! they were baron to say the least. I actually gave up watching England play football. So when we are failing after he has gone remember you called for him to go.
Come on England fans, Gareth Southgate has done great. How many great teams never reached the Finals, but England did. _He left because of the English perfectionism mentality and that's just unfair. My friend Chris and I were rooting for England to win on Sunday but Football will always be football. You blink for a moment and bank!!!, your opponent is ahead. Great job England and I hope Southgate gets a better job with less criticism and a better fan support.

If you are the England.manager and players dont want to listen to you then they shouldn't be playing for England. put players in the positions they play week in and week out at their clubs. Play with pace up front and come up with a plan A B and C from the first game in charge. Try and win that Nations league. It would be a trophy and would get the players and fans positive leading into the World Cup and Euros. Stop playing injured players or players out of form. Play the youth. Thanks Gareth...its been emotional
Hope you lot are happy now when we go back to those mid exits again then what plus find a manager who the players love as much as they loved Southgate when things go wrong this is on you fans
If English, has to be: Eddie Howe or Carsley. If non-English: Klopp (though doubtful he would ever take, as he wants to relax, so no idea why his name is being constantly thrown into the mix). No way Lampard, Rooney or Gerrard. They have poor man-management and inter-personal skills. No way: the Argentian Pochettino.
Absolute disgrace by the FA to let Southgate go his been our best manager ever we won't ever get a better British manager than Southgate look at klopp how many finals it's taken him to start winning trophies the same could of happened with Southgate
If ever a manager had the easiest of draws in the last 3 international competitions then this man did I think his tactics boring football and taking the knee were against everything England should be so happy mr boring has left lets see what he does at club manager level .
Dont respect any manager who Refuses to change things when all us fans can see its not working, plays players out of there favoured position makes them look crap Gordon Eze palmer toney Watkins players who can make things happen sitting on the bench hardly played negative safe crap manager good riddance to rubbish...
Southgate took this team to heights we havent seen for half a century. Hoping we do not go backwards and revert to the next 20 years of quarter final exits on penalties
Would be a riot if they perform even worse now with fans then yearning for Gareth and his semi and final appearances. They never won anything in 58 years...not sure why he was expected to do any better.
The FA needs to appoint a top foreign coach. Who cares where he comes from. The English women's national coach is Dutch. This is the direction we need to move.
The English teams are some of the most overrated teams in history of the sport. It’s not the coach it’s the quality of players. They were extremely lucky to get to the finals and don’t have a team deserving of silverware. All these Rice, Wheat, Palmer Pulmer etc are average English players.
My Next England lineup. Pickford Shaw Guehi Stones Alexander Arnold Gordon Mainoo Rice Saka Palmer Watkins Bellingham, Foden, Kane, Walker, Trippier dropped to bench or out of squad.
Casual fans are the ones that shame Southgate. He may not have been a good tactical coach, each tournament he slowly learnt. He has at least laid a good foundation for future England manager, and we have a generation of talented players coming through. Gareth has done a great job, he has had the luck and taken England as far as he could. Our golden generation previously was wasted. Southgate turned down millions as FA would have kept him for the World cup. You can be grateful for Southgate, while also hoping a better coach takes England all the way.
