Lots of wisdom packed in here! The passion conversation at the end seems to highlight why HEART is an important element in the mind body connection as well! We must address our feelings and develop all these other areas of the psyche that aren't purely rational! Having a moral philosophy is crucial with the amount of attention seeking propaganda being pushed everywhere! Be clear about your beliefs and ethical choices! A (mostly) vegan world is not just some pipedream but a real attainable goal that we must demonstrate! Most of the audience here is well aware of the importance of extending our empathy to not just all humans, but animals and ecosystems as well! This can easily be a cause worth fighting for, giving anyone purpose and passion in our lives, while we attempt to both create a livable future and stop an ongoing holocaust! Thanks for sharing this discussion with us!

I have used the word passion many times and give it many meanings and explanation without really thinking about it. After watching this video i stopped and think for 5 minutes what passion is and here is my conclusions: - passion does not come before action - passion is not a quality you acquire with the use of some techniques - passion OCCURS naturally when you tell/convince yourself, that what you are doing at every moment of your life is the best possible thing that you could do at that very moment.

awareness, mindfulness, higher conscience...cliché it would be to state that these concepts have become ever more mainstream for a while now. a critical angle from where to look at these concepts is school education, and the impact the inculcation of mindfulness in schools has on the development of kids. would kids trained in mindfulness, once grown into people your age, still be holding your kind of conversation? would your daughters cope better under lockdown if they had five years of daily mindfulness behind them? a vlog with a guest involved in training kids in mindfulness in a school context - might be something to look at?

Sports is a complete example of overcoming struggle & adversity that is so threaded in our beings, that we are drawn to watch each play, each game, and ultimately each season. It reminds us of the brass ring and immediately is satisfying. Sports parallels life & we love seeing the overcoming without the onlooker giving the effort. ?????

Also the idea of persevering at something one isn't passionate about. Ie the last 20 miles of a 100 miler when your feet are extremely blistered. Wouldn't lacking passion lead to dropping out? Or maybe that's just pure stubbornness?

so funny that just when I thought "man, you guys are tiptoeing around here, trying not to offend anyone" (Rich saying everybody´s afraid to speak and act these days and that it´s so hard to know what´s good, what´s real etc.) , Micheal comes out stating that he draws the line at a person´s moral values (he calls it humanity): "I am not voting for Trump". THANK YOU. Not because I am anti Trump (which I am) but because at the core it is political. We can all give each other a hug and pretend not to judge one another, but it comes to a point where you have to show your true colors. Just my humble opinion.

Regarding passion and perseverance- Doesn't the "back drop" need to be mindfulness? Cultivating mindfulness and the inherent awareness it manifests allow us to navigate any experience passion/perseverance present or absent. If we are not "awake" enough to observe the likes of fear and fatigue in our experience, we then lack the ability to respond accordingly. Dr. Gervais' purpose is profound, simple and powerful. Very Bodhisattva-ish :)

Rich, I love you but quit it with the "I'm afraid to say anything" frame. You've literally said it in every pod over the past 7 months and, while that's a great 1st pod of BLM2020 thing to ponder openly, it's not an October sentiment to continue repeating. It reveals that you're content centering yourself in the problem instead of learning to model dialogue beyond that fear and acquiring the ability to center others, victims/systems. You are capable of communicating evolved rhetoric around tough topics and your audience (me!) will be right there with you, recognizing and appreciating your earnest work. At the very least, stop talking about racial injustice on the pod if you can't move past the fear of getting white man cancelled.
