I think the biggest difference is she was getting annoyed with the first guy cause when she told him no he kept insisting. Guy nr 2 helped her out from that situation (yeah, she could have helped herself but she would have to be extremely unpleasant. he let her "wiggle out" with both her dignity and manners intact) and kept a very light tone when asking her making sure she knew that he knew that her saying no to him was a very real possibility. She relaxed because she felt that if she told him to go away he would maybe make a joke to soften the blow but then he would actually go away. She gave him a chance because he made it clear she didn't have to be on guard.
Most people are the most relaxed when talking about themselves. So asking genuine questions rather than using a chat-up line forms a genuine bond and you're less likely to be shot down within the first 30 seconds.
The first guy's unintentional the best wingman. Without him, there's no way he could approach her. The lesson here: use the situation to your advantage.
Lol it’s actually not the worst idea in the world, have your friend go up first and do a really bad approach, then you come up, act like you guys don’t know each other and like you’re “saving” her from the situation lol
She is straight with him, yet Chip insults her: "Are you always so shut down and afraid...?" He actually tries to shame her into changing her mind. It's their first interaction and he already shows her he won't listen to her, won't respect her boundaries and will place his desires above hers. Chip is not a catch.
Not really. It’s called ‘negging’, i.e. saying something negative about her that she’ll immediately feel compelled to engage with and counter. Don’t get me wrong: I think it’s pathetic too. But it’s a PUA tactic; it doesn’t reflect the true nature of who Chip is in any way. In the same way Will Smith’s approach of explaining how hard it is for a man to talk to a woman like her - implying how beautiful she is - doesn’t reflect on his real nature either. It’s all just PUA tactics. We’re just watching a game of emotional chess, nothing more.
Thank you for the explanation, but please be advised: What you choose to do absolutely reveals your character. The fact that Chip chooses to use PUA tactics is revealing in and of itself. Treating someone poorly so they will engage with you means you are the kind of person who will be ugly to another for selfish reasons.
Never going to watch anything with that racist in it. In the days of fresh prince, he was making racist and disabled remarks and telling everyone to calm down because he was "Only joking". But when someone made a hilarious joke about his devil ugly man woman that he simps to that sleeps with all the other men. He think it's ok to hit them in front of the world and think he is above the law and a joke? No way.
That sweet line or pick up line or whatever it is will only work for teenager, probably worked. But if youre a grown man, all you have to do is just a normal conversation
@@1994mh the Actor who's playing the 'normal and confident' character got cuckolded by his wife in real life. Think about that. It's all a bunch of bs.
I think you all got wrong. The first guy is wing man for the second guy. They hooked her like a fish. First one goes and intentionally gets burned so the second can have easy way in. Then the second guy pays drinks for the week. So actually first guy did the awesome job. Hahha😂
You always know exactly what your gonna get with Will Smith's acting, casual and controlled displays of confidence. To anyone who thinks having one persona makes Will a poor actor, just consider how different who he pretended to be is from who slaps.
@@propogandalf another one.. 😂😂 alright bro you won.. But i have a question. If you'd switch the conversation or the way i like to call it "script" what could have happened??
@@sksarwar3994 You mean if Hitch would have approached her first and Chip second? My guess is she would've waved Chip off or both of them out of annoyance. Unlike Hitch, Chip can't read the situation or people (she was clearly sitting there not trying to be bothered but he was ignorant of that). Also Chip approaches with the assumption that the only reason she could not be interested in him is if she's refusing to allow herself, as opposed to chemistry, timing, circumstance. Being socially inept, desperate, and yet entitled is unattractive. He was doomed regardless.
Such a hard scene to watch they make the first guy sound like he’s trying to be Christopher walken. which let’s be real no one’s as smooth as walken. And then they over do it with will trying to be the “smooth” guy. when it’s overly forced and not natural it makes the scene that much worse.
No he showed that there's a variety of taste out there and yes you must pay attention ...there is really no right way you adapt quickly deflect and come back smoothly
