That breath she let's out at the end is so endearing... like she was holding her breath for him. Then, Henk with the smile and the raised eyebrows... like he was saying, "That, my dear, was for you."
Right? I've watched all episodes. She's such a sweetheart. I think they build a very special relationship during the time they were on this show. They're touring together through The Netherlands right now.
He sang the Disturbed version because that is the one Floor loves..... The distortion that he put in his voice is a big no no for an opera singer. But he did it for Floor. He did another duet with Emma Heesters. It is beautiful too. Thank you my friend for my smile. You did it again........... :-)
Hey Ann :) here's a thing to dream about: since Henk plans to join Nightwish for Phantom of the Opera anyway, how awesome it would be if Tuomas "Nightwishifies" this song for Henk and Floor too
Can you blame her man? She's been a fan of his since she was 12, she finally got to meet her idol, i am so glad her wish came true, both with her listening to this song and singing phantom of the opera with him.
Yess finally!!! I loved that he chose Disturbed's version of this cover. This is also his first time singing with distortion in his voice. He's a trained opera singer (we already saw that) so for him to add that to his voice it was giant leap. And he nailed it :D
Floor said she’s idolized him since his Phantom run back in the early to mid 90s and you can see why. I went into this show loving them both for their talent. And I gotta say as a Phantom fan, I love it when people watch this show for Floor and discover him too. He graduated early with a degree in opera. That’s his expertise. He has never used distortion before this as it’s a no-no in his day to day. He used it for Floor. He’ll be performing with her on several dates in the Netherlands.
I watch your reaction for the 1000th.....time! It makes me everytime happy in a strange world......Good health for everybody and keep an eye on each other! Greetings from the Netherlands
This is an awesome cover, Henk did an amazing job. If you are ever looking for something different try Iced Earth, Dante's Inferno. I am partial to the newest version they did in 2011, but you can't go wrong with any version that they did.
Henk is awesome, man! He was surprised at all the attention, he didn't plan on becoming a famous...little did he know that he was already famous and now he's a worldwide celebrity. Talk about humble.
Uncle Henk (nickname in the show) is a Giant, when he played the phantom he came on my radar, but he has done a whole lot more. It's worth to check him out... Thnx for this again! See ya...
Let me tell you that Henk did play a part in the dutch version of Phantom of the opera. Doesn’t make it less good, but pits everything in perspective of him being this good.
As a Dutch person I say: "There are not much people who can stare Henk Poort in the eye and just be like, I'm just as good as you." lol. Floor loved this singer from when she was a little girl.
I would love to sing with each one of them, cause they are able to cope with my volume.... I'm just not famous yet. Sang a duet with Ernst Daniël once, I'm certainly proud he was impressed 😅
Gonna do all singers in that show? You should. You really should. They all are toppers. There's a reason they are together there under the name "Best singers of the Netherlands"
I watched the episode this is from. Floor was on the couch this time and the others sang songs to her. Henk was *extremely* nervous and out of his comfort zone, because he has an opera background. He said that singing with distortion was quite frowned upon in that environment. Nevertheless, he absolutely crushed it and got Floor to fangirl :p
Hahaha what a load of bullcrap. A LOT of heavy metal singers are classically trained, as was David Draiman from Disturbed himself. He is Jewish and was trained to be a cantor in a synagogue. Why don't people do their homework?
@@moonlampje79 you're such an ignorant pretending to know things you don't, comparing synagogue singing to professional Opera training... do yourself a favor and stop commenting on internet.
@@justarandomguy2126 they both had a classical training. I'm not saying that a cantor is the same as an operasinger, maybe you should learn how to read properly instead of telling people to stop commenting.
This is the 12th season of the show, and I never watched it before, because well, it's kinda cheesy, with cheesy Dutch singers (lol) fawning over eachother, but this season with Floor and Henk was really something else 😍😍😍
I congratulate you on your choice, that is indeed an excellent song and very overlooked in this storm of "too many good singers and songs" we just had n the past weeks. Pure gems have been left untouched by reactors, simply because they get overlooked due to the sheer volume of amazing songs and performances this season. Dear Mr. President is absolutely one of those gems that deserves more attention.
It's funny when you think about it, Nightwish had a amazing singer in Tarja, things didnt turn out the way fans wanted, but such is life.... We then were kind of ready for the possible end of Nightwish, after all, who could replace Tarja? And then the gods of metal pointed at Floor and said "You are the chosen one" And the gods were right, Tarja was amazing, but there is a few levels above amazing, and above that is one more level, and that is where Floor comes from. (no disrespect towards Tarja whatsoever, she's amazing in her own right, but Floor is so much more versatile)
So an operasinger broke you ;-) Tips from the same show 2018 are Maria Fiselier with lose yourself and from 2017 Tommie Christian with Carusso/ Asama de, his duet with Tania Kross and her solo performances on there. You will enjoy. Google them afterwards!
Lol, you said that perfectly "there is not many people, who can stare her in the face, and just be like, i am just as good" Because that is so true, Henk is one of the few who is at her level, or you could say, Floor is one of the few, at Henk's level... actually, i think i'm going with the latter one, Floor one of the few, being at Henk's level, and thats in absolutely no disrespect towards Floor, its based on one simple fact, he is Floor's idol, and that is the only reason. Uncle Henk is magic, as is Floor, and when you add magic to magic you get : the Phantom. (And totally, he stole this, he indeed did a "Johnny Cash" hehehe)
With all due respect but Henk is a classically trained baritone opera singer, and has sang opera Internationally. Floor is a GREAT singer but listen to trained female opera singers and you will here a big difference in vocal control and vocal strength. The demands in vocal skill are far higher in opera. She can't do what singers like Christine Deutekom, Maria Callas, Montserrat Cabale, Diana Damrau or Faustina Bordoni do. You need to widen your horizon! Again, she's a great singer but in the world of opera there are so many OUTSTANDING singers. Even Sarah Brightman, who isn't even in my list of best opera singers, sings this a zillion times better. She also played the part of Christine in the Musical.
@@fzb5383 I get what you're saying, and you are correct, but my viewpoint is slightly different, i meant it from the angle of a non opera singer, being on par with Henk. Ofc there's better Opera singers, but Floor isnt a opera singer, she's a metal singer with a wide range of abilities. And from that background she stands tall next to Henk, who i personally have been a fan of for some 30 years or so, so, i think you misread my intentions in what i was trying to say.
Yep, thats Floor goin fangirl mode for Henk. She explains earlier in one episode how exited she got that Henk, being her idol and one of her sources for inspiration, was also joining the show. But from this same show, Rolf Sanchez does "Hotel California" in his own style, and good ole Poofy Hair himself XD Ruben does "They dance Alone" By Sting, and does quite well. But the one that gets me from this show is Emma Heesters, she sings Floor's original "Strong". And prepare for that one because Floor in tears will melt your heart. All from Floor's episode are great but those are the ones that got me. I definitely recommend them all.
It's so great seeing Floor feel the way she makes us feel... Don't neglect Henk's despacito. He grabbed that pop trash and turned into flamenco greatness just like that (the band sure helped)! You'll also kick yourself if it takes longer before you listen to Tim sing breng hem thuis for Henk.
Seriously? I found this version of sound of silence 2 days ago and now you make a reaction-video on this one :D hm. Let's say thank you to Floor for this :D (sorry fo my bad English, I'm russian)
Hey brother. I know you can not understand or read Dutch. So here are some fun facts Henk learned this song in just two hours before taping and singing this song. And when before he did the phantom of the opera with Floor. Floor asked him to do this with him. Henk was one of the first. Phantoms in the 90’s musical. Look it up. Henk poort with Joke kruijf. It’s on you tube. So back to floor story’s. As you know she never sang the song with the full nightwish band. Tara did. So she always wanted to do this. So when she asked Henk for this duet. He said. Yes on one condition that he and she and nightwish will do this song. In nov 2020 concert in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. Side note. Henk vowed never to sing phantom of the opera ever after the musical ended. No one knows yet. Why he sang sound of silence. But I think becouse he asked her. Pick a song. I will do it. Becouse she sang vilja lied for him.
Simon and Garfunkel's version of this song has been my favorite song for as long as I can remember, and as such I might be a little bit biased... but dayum Henk, I love listening to your version as well.
David would be proud of that performance. Hey, if you want to see Floor cry instead of smile, check out Emma Heesters singing Floor's song 'Strong' to Floor from that same episode. Emma is the tiny young blonde angel. She SO NAILED that song! Get tissues ready because Floor actually really cries during that one! Floor wrote 'Strong' about her own mother, who suffers from arthritis and has been suffering with it for years! Floor wrote this song when she was in a different band (honestly, now that I am trying to point this out, I can't remember exactly which band it was...figures. I HATE my lack of memory!).
Just subscribed 👍 You should watch Emma Heesters-Strong, song from Floor to Floor. And then you should check After Forever- Strong, the original song. Great song to have in your life👌
Ah, you're reacting to this one! It was during the episode where Floor was in the seat of honour and the other singers sang for her (my god, you have to react to Emma Heersters covering Strong in that one too). One thing to be aware of with Floor in Beste Zangers: each time Henk opens his mouths, she instantly is fangirling and touched. It's the cutest thing!
Hey brother. I dont suggest many songs. I did suggest UTAs Tonight We Ride. I have a NEW one for you. BURNING WITCHES song is Black Widow....Trust me you will love these girls. 5 piece female powermetal/black gothic metal band. Singers a beast aaaannd shes hot.
To be honest, when I was listening to Henk and Floor doing Phantom, I didn't really pay attention to his vocals because I was having a Floorgasm after her first line. I wanted more of her singing. But now listening to him singing this song, the man has some serious talent. WOW, just freaking WOW!!
Hi Mr. Rock N Roll! Great review of the song by Henk Poort. In Belgium they have a similar show, called Liefde voor Muziek (love for Music). Sharon den Adel (Within Tempatation) has some great performances in this show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5RWHSqUxGAs.html One of my personal favorites in the show is Jasper Steverlinck (Arid) performing Ice Queen .... Just check it out, you might like it!
Well Floor is a huge fan of Henk Poort, and he was verry nerves to sing this song for her.. but he did a wonderfull job❤ bdw.. your voice is not bad also😍
