Training a reactive dog can be difficult, finding the right dog trainer to help you with your leash reactive dog can be even more of a challenge. Tom Davis conducts a dog training seminar in the UK right outside of London! We had dog owners and dog trainers from all over the UK and Europe attend the first Tom Davis International UK Dog Training seminar! This is a 25-minute clip of Tom working with 3 of his 8 dogs at the seminar.

The closing words from the lady at the end were incredibly powerful. There's so much varied opinion on training methods but she hit the nail on the head with needing to do what works for you and most importantly the dog. So much respect for that change of opinion and view point.

Hell yes. I hate correcting my dog every time he lunges at other dogs because he's too excited to meet them. But we'll both get in trouble if I let him do it. They need to be told what is appropriate and what isn't.

I have a newly 3yr old Male GSD. He was raised during covid. His original family took quarantine seriously and never had him around others or socialized him. I took him on with knowing a little of his history. We are a social family and now we can’t have people here, freely. He had bit my neighbor who is 13, nipped at my daughters other friend, and lunged at my 20yr old son WHO LIVES HERE, and attempted to bite. He didn’t make contact. He forgets who’s in the house and becomes startled. Almost like he forgets who he has met 15+ times. Even ones he has snuggled and spent time with. Now, he is possessive of me since I’m his #1 care giver and play mate. I have a muzzle which I am working on the training. He HAS graduated the 2 week obedience school. He is wonderful at command. It’s that fear, he is so reactive, un socialized and protectiveness. He has a sense he feels with people being nervous. I’m in way over my head!!! Gosh, I wish I had you near by to help! He is big and strong! Combined with his old family and myself, he has bitten 4 times. Is there a way for myself to locate and seek help from you. I’m committed to helping him be successful. I just don’t have the professional knowledge. The last trainer did nothing! No change! I’m sending a SOS!!!!!! Shari! You are amazing! I watch and adore your knowledge! I need your help! 🙏🏼 Email: SJHAILEY76@GMAIL.COM

Great to see your trip to UK Tom. 😍 I really hope that more people get updated about the fantastic tools like e-collars and prongs. It’s banned in so many countries here in Europe and I think we must do something now against those activists who wants it banned all over the world.

It made my heart sing to see how the connection between the owners and the dogs changed to one of communication and understanding by both 2&4 legged participants. They all went in looking like Eyore (Christopher robin) and the "here we go again" with no hope. As they each learned, the spark of possibility of a new and better reality started to kick in. Then, the owners each describing the joy of being able to actually go out and have Fun with their dogs, without the fear/anxiety, is priceless. May this bring about change so more people can enjoy their dogs in a safe and fun way. Great episode. Peace from New England, 🇺🇸

This made me cry especially last lady my GSD was a reactive mess because of my lack of knowledge but watching your videos and play learning she is now only on leash while we are walking the street she is so confident and obedience but has kept her lovely personality would love to end my journey with a e.collar but live in Cyprus bought one two years ago but it is banned here so it is still in Scotland I want it for safety glad you got a great welcome from the U.K. Well done.

Incredible Tom. I especially loved the dog owner at the end talking about the realistic application of prong collars, and how people are too emotionally wrapped up to free their dogs from constant stress. It's a huge issue in the training industry. You all are making waves to change that! Keep it up, much love 💕

Nice session. Different people, different dogs, a lot of temperaments. Of course, all of this aspects like right timings, reinforcements, correction etc., at the right time and combination will have an effect. As my feeling, there is need more highlight, sharpen a point to human's inner energy, that would be higher enough to been a foundation for the true leadership. If so, the most of issues could solved just in seconds, literally. It's like Zen state, if you want ) This is very often really hard to achieve, but it'll be worth it. The right energy at the right time. Animals give us a great opportunity to exploring and nurturing ourselves, that's all of us should to realize.

It’s amazing to me how simple this stuff is if you spend any time learning about balanced training vs. these positive only freaks with no explanation other than telling you ‘dogs like to be rewarded’. No shit. Dogs are a little bit like people, but better, in that they’re all different and require many different training methods per dog. You can’t positive-only train a dog about what NOT to do, only what TO do.
@jadelanglinais1982
@jadelanglinais1982 2 года назад
If you want to figure out what type of trainer you should listen to, take a look at the trainers’ personal dog. Just for example, look at Zac George’s relationship with his dog inertia and take note of her behavior and how they interact with each other, then take a look at Lakota and Tom. If a trainer can’t train his own dog, that’s an issue. Also zac likes to talk about how balanced training may get quick results but could damage your relationship with your dog over time. Again I ask you to look at Lakota and Tom, THAT is the type of relationship you should want with your dog. Not like zac pulling his fearful dog into a dog park and letting a situation escalate into what it did.

Even whilst being reactive, these dog participants appeared more "polite" than the usual cases we see on this channel. LoL ! (It's lovely and nothing against any dog, owner, country!) Luna was ready and waiting for her owner to connect with a trainer and methods that matched them. It was obvious Luna kept looking for direction from her owner. That pair will be able to accomplish whatever they wish if they maintain and build on Luna's laser sharp focus. All of the participants made great progress; the owners were so open and willing to try different things. Fantastic to see how Tom always strengthens the dog /owner bond while problem solving. The future looks great for them all (including the cheeky tug thief! 😂) As Tom always says, the dog/owner relationship is the foundation and once it's solid, you just build from there! Thank you!

I was the same, but UCA and Stonie helped me to change a lot, i can really give all the praise i can to them and would still not even come close to what i learned from them for free! You can spend thousands on a trainer and see 0 results or you can try it the UCA/Stonie way and get good results yourself if you just take your time, learn from them and from the doggo you want to train. I made so many mistakes with mine, it would be too long, basically i wasnt letting her be a dog and she had a bad attitude, but after i started applying stuff i learned from watching this and Stonies channels, life got way better really fast thanks to them.

I often watch his videos but enjoy Tom's more. Tom is more about getting the owner to do it right. After all, the owner is probably what caused the problem in the first place. I know it was my tightening the leash every time we passed another dog that caused our reactivity. Once I "loose leashed" our GSD, no more problems. Go figure!

How did I miss this?????? I live in London! Thank you for helping some of my fellow Londoners. I was messed around with by terrible trainers for years with my dogs, at the cost of tens of thousands. In the end I took the time (between dogs) to go and learn different techniques myself. When I got my next dog (I'm a large breed, working dog lover) I was more than capable to cope with the different things that came up. Some things I needed a bit of advice on, but I did most things myself, built a wonderful relationship with my dog, and ended up with a dog that took part in search and rescue missions in the UK. He passed away earlier this year, but I know when I decide it's time, I will be ready and if I'm not there are people (few and far between) who can offer another perspective. I'd certainly come to any UK based seminar's you do in the future.

Your videos are always so informative and easy to understand. Thanks! However, I want to caution anyone who has a reactive dog to think twice before using a head halter (Gentle Leader or Halti) People liken a head collar to a halter on a horse. While it has the same effect, a horse has a much thicker neck and the chance for cervical damage is close to zero. When my large breed dog was 7 months old , I took the advice of a trainer and switched from a flat collar to a Gentle Leader. One day while on a walk he saw another dog and lunged forward. His body came to an abrupt stop and his head was yanked around due to the collar over his nose. He's been getting chiropractic adjustments for over 9 years and now has intervertebral disc disease in his neck. Please be careful with this training aid.

Great video Tom. Balanced training saves lives of many dogs. I love the testimonials. Thank you for showing the correct way to use tools like the prong or e-collar

Great idea to let the humans feel the "shock" collar. People have the wrong idea about it. For the first time in my life I do not have a dog. My lab passed a month ago. Why am I bothering to watch dog training? I think this is one of the best dog trainers that I ever watched. I can think of 2 trainers that have similar styles. I started with the other trainer like this and I think he saved my life and my dogs. Proper training has almost immediate improvement.

@@rainaquelle365 : When I adopted her, she had been both neglected and abused by her former owners. They also obviously didn't know anything about dog training. Her behaviors came with her; that is, she had started chasing cars with them. When I saw the vibrating collar on UCA, I knew it would have saved her life, because it would have given me a tool to break her attention on the cars and get her to listen to me.

Great to see a variety of dogs and owners that are open minded to do what is best for their dogs. Engagement is so important and helps your dog to not react to people and dogs because it's focused on you. Proper leash correction can be difficult to learn. I teach my clients "loose, pop, loose", in how to use the leash. I also have them verbalize it as they do it. Tally ho!

Awesome episode! Great info and communication you were able to accomplish with the group. How long was this seminar in real time with the group? How many days and time per day did this take? To do this in an area where they are trying to ban all uses of these tools is a great step forward and keep up the good work.

Awesome training, I haven’t seen that muzzle/leash lead in action during a training and it seems like a much more comfortable option for a dog rather than being muzzled. Nothing against muzzles just saying that leash looked more comfortable for the dog! Great video!

also, really love the part where you put the e-collar on the people to have them test the levels- i always get a lot of slack for using an e-collar because people think of it as a torture device for dogs when in reality it’s usually used at such a low vibrate that humans can barely feel it!
