As usual, we seem have someone in the comments pretending to be me today and abusing people. I think I’ve deleted them all and blocked all the accounts, but if you see anyone with my name, check for the verified tick - if they don’t have one, it’s not me!
@@andychapman6463 jeez, get a life man. Its really not funny. Its just sad that a grown man would even think something like this is funny or amusing. You've got problems, but you don't need me to tell you that.
Glad Andy was able to ride Thomas in the end and the day wasn't all bad. I would maybe consider trying to find out if Andy has a water infection with his frequent toilet visits as that can also have an impact on behaviour?
I’m autistic aswell and I enjoyed Thomas when I was younger, James was (and still is my favourite engine) because of his red paint (as red is my favourite colour), I’m glad Andy enjoyed himself towards the end and fair play to the driver controlling Thomas for stopping to look at him and letting Andy having his picture with Thomas
What a top guy on the Thomas ride. He's definitely in the right job. Some theme park workers can be so miserable and they look like they hate being there, totally takes away from the experience. So hats off to the conductor for going out of his way for giving Andy a great time.
Thanks for the vlog. This is a good illustration of the challenges that autistics and their carers face; a very sobering look. Looks like you made the best of the day.
Hey kev! Sorry you had such a bad day, theres a access pass called “easy access pass” available at guest services. If you ever fancy another trip when it’s quieter let me know ill put you guys under my staff pass. Poor andy
Funny enough I don't live too far from there and actually at one point I cycled down to Drayton Manor. Hope it was a lovely day as a whole for you. I also happen to have autism too.
I’m so glad the day turned around for Andy and all of you so that he got to go on Thomas etc! Also, the medication that Andy has (I remember you saying what it’s called) makes you super hungry as well as tired. I was on it for a while X
@@TrixAndWhipz rispiridone? I mean, p much all antipsychotics have the weight gain side effect + tiredness, but I remember being told rispiridone was one of the better ones. I'd imagine it's quetiapine, as out of all the new antipsychotics, it's the best known to make ppl tired + hungry
Im so glad Andy gives all these fun things a go. My autistic son NEVER wants to try anything fun. Everytime i offer him somewhere fun to go, he knocks it back. It really gets me down. His whole life is slipping past him, with hardly any nice memories to look back on.
gman my son would also be overstimulated and not have fun but remember "one man's dream is anothers nightmare" .. we may have a blast at a train theme park whereas he may have just as much fun at home lining up train tracks. Don't be to hard on yourself, I promise your son has good memories tucked away :) 💙
Maybe he just finds different things fun. He obviously does things with his life so he obviously enjoys SOME things. They might just be different than those that you enjoy
Drayton Manor do have an access system, it’s just not the most easy to find on the website. Just ring up the general number and they’ll ask you to email in documents and it should all be sorted :)
@@kevinchapmanvlog yeah I agree it’s not the easiest to find even in the park you have to go to a separate place to get it similar to like Disneyland. They’re normally pretty good though once you find it .
I just wanted to hop on to say that it's hard to find info but Drayton have loads for kids like Andy. We took our now 7yr old son for Halloween 2019 before he'd had any diagnosis (he's now been diagnosed with adhd and being referred again to be assessed for autism, I am also chasing assessment myself) and we just had to go to guest services with his dla award and they were absolutely lovely. Gave us the pass and the ride ops never even marked the card in Thomas land. They were so lovely with everything, I was pregnant at the time and they even gave me a list of rides I could still ride. We're trying to get a pass sorted for Alton towers atm for in 2 weeks. But if you do go to Drayton again, please stop at guest services for a queue pass. We're going around Halloween again this year I think, and probably west Midlands safari too as their Halloween stuff was fab. It would be brilliant to meet you guys.
well done rescuing the day. It's so hard to deal with days out with our kids. I'd love to take my twins place like this more but we've last 20 mins in many places
Great video, Kev. You should have gone to have also a look at the Discover Thomas Exhibition where they have physical props of the character models from seasons 8-12. Some as early as Season 5.
Sad to see it didn’t exactly go to plan but certainly happy to see you managed to swindle a lot more time in the park than planned and Andy seemed to definitely get some enjoyment from it 😂 love the snake too
I understand the set up was less than ideal! I honestly think given the troubles we have had getting our son out and about has and is considerably harder after multiple lockdowns being told the virus is the reason then when lockdown is gone it has gone... and then it was back again and so forth. It is going to take some perhaps longer and some time to get back into social activities/outings etc. given the ups with downs I think Andy getting out having some fun absolutely is a win and every bit worth the challenges. Hope you both enjoy some well deserved self care moments/time. Seriously Kudos for the endurance and perseverance to get Andy out and about! Especially given he was likely hesitant and reluctant at first and then when getting there. A big heart and a cool head, always wins when you have to be the calm in the storm. Blessings 🌟💜💫
Do you think he has a UTI? You guys mentioned that a couple days ago and it may be coincidental but I’ve heard him ask for the bathroom three times just in the footage I’m seeing here.
It could also be an escape mechanism or extreme anxiety. When I have extreme anxiety I have to use the bathroom multiple times, happens more on trips. Either way they could see what the doctor says about it
I'm pretty sure they used to do fast track for disabled people, I think it's all changed due to covid 19 and the one way system stuff on the park, but if you plan on going again it would be a good idea to get in touch with the park and asking them about this
Glad you had a good day in the end have you tried decaf coffee it doesn't taste Any different and you can drink as much as you want but keep the caffeine for whe you need it
Haven't watched this channel since before covid, great to see andy has finally put on some weight! I'm sure the meds are helping with that. He also looks so much older, with his moustache + face shape changing a bit, is he around 16 now?
there are priority access for autistic people on the rides, all you need is proof that he has autism and ask the enployee running the ride where the entrance is (usually at the exit of the ride)
There used to be an office to take dla letters to for priority access but not been there for years so can’t remember where it is🙈 Was my fav park when I lived closer because their priority access was amazing for all needs . It’s hidden away tho so if you don’t know where the office is it’s tricky to locate. I’d try again another day and ask staff where it is you’ll have a more relaxed experience hopefully .
@@dilloncrawford1726 they’re literally just saying it’s going to be a good video, they aren’t expressing that they find Andy being distressed is entertaining for them. Use your brain
This is probably a silly comment to make because I'm sure you tried this or thought about this but I only say this as someone who works at a theme park, explain to the person who is managing the queue that Andy is autistic, has behavioural difficulties where he really can't stand in a line and then depending on the person running the line (hopefully they're nice) they might let you through even without an official fast pass. I've done it for autistic children and their parents before as the park I work at also doesn't offer "official" fast passes
Poor Andy. I think it’s awful that going by people’s comments on here Drayton Manor didn’t make it obvious they have a fast track system. I remember years ago my friend had epilepsy and we went to reception and she handed over some sort of document and they handed her a stamp card for 10 rides fast track access.
This was my fav park because of their priority access but not been for year so Dno if they still do it. You have to go to an office inside the park similar to like Disneyland to get it
They do have a ride access pass, you just have to go to guest services with something like a dla letter and it gives access to 10 rides from the exit rather the normal queue.
Hi i have altisam but not as severe i stuggle to stand in line for long and when i whent they did a dissabilaty pass where you have to go to where the log flume is ushly theres like a weal chere place that dose the dissabilaty pass to cut the line ushly hope this helps next time you are there.
Hello Sir. Oh No, I am Sorry Andy had a Massive Meltdown in the Que. I hope that there was not a Police Incident due to it :( I was Hoping for a Positive Vlog Today, I do Understand however, as I *Hate* Ques! they really Stress Me out. I see from the Comments that Drayton really needs to work on Advertising their Fast Access Pass for Disabilities, and I agree! had You known about it, that Incident would not have Happened. I do not like theme Parks, I do not Like Rides, I do not like all the Noise, and I do not like the Ques. I am glad the Initial Entrance went well. I am glad Andy cheered up after meeting Thomas. To Me, Thomas is...the First 2 Series, Produced at Shepperton Studios. You know, the Ones filmed using a Mix of a Hornby 00 Gauge Trainset and Stop Motion animation, and were Narrated by Ringo Starr.. Ahh, Sir Toppham Hat. I remember when He was still called "The Fat Controller". Sorry You had such a Big Wait. Ahh, so nothing Running is what caused the Upset to Begin and the Que just made it Worse :( Nice Lake. I do not like Rides. They Frighten Me. So I am with Andy there. I am glad You got Andy onto the Flying Boat! I am glad that Andy enjoyed the other Miniature Train. Yeah, Covid is Ruining Everything. You have GOT to go to York One Day, Andy would Love the National Railway Museum! I wish they would use Real Steam for the Minatare Trains rather than Car Petrol or Diesel Engines. I am sorry that Andy was having a Hard Time and wanted to Go Home I hope the Zoo Visit went Well I am Sorry You are Colour Blind Sir, I did not Know that. I am afraid that I do not Believe in Evolution, Sorry, But, You know why, So I wont Repeat. I do not like even Little Home Cats. Let alone Big Wild Cats. I am Sorry You had a Meltdown from Andy and Had to Medicate. I am Sorry the Day Started to become a Disaster. I hope that Next Time You go to Thomas Land, You will be able to use a Fast Pass for Him I am Sorry that Andy has Regressed and cannot cope with queuing anymore. Well done Remember Your Manners Andy! I think Andy got too Hot :( poor Lad. I am Sorry Andy gets so Confused :( There is a Big Historic Tram Museum at Crich! and the Trams *Run* ! so Andy would love that. I am Sorry You had that Massive Meltdown :( Medicine and see what Happens. it was all You could do. I am glad the Que finally Cleared! You know what I Believe. I am so Glad Andy Really cheered Up after His Ride on Thomas! COVID has Ruined everything :( I am So Glad Seeing Thomas gave Andy that Big Smile :) That Driver was an absolute Hero! Letting Andy take His Picture with Thomas, and go and get up Really Close with Thomas! I wonder if He has an Autistic Relative, as He clearly Really Understood! :) what a Wonderful Chap! The GWR Class 57XX called "Duck" was My Favourite Engine as a Child. Indeed, Not too Close to the Rails Andy! I am So Glad Andy was Willing to Stay at the Park after Meeting Thomas, So You could have some Enjoyment too. "oi! Gizzus some Food!" - the Bird! I am glad Andy enjoyed Watching Percy! I am glad You all enjoyed the Ice Cream. Honeycomb and Salted Caramel are My Favourites! I wonder if Andy is Poorly with How often He needs the Toilet, maybe You might have to take Him to the Doctor. Dinosaurs? Cool. I am glad Andy liked the sensory Bricks :) Aww! I am glad Andy likes His Snake :) So Long as Andy was Happy in the End :) Yes, that No Que Situation was a Blessing! and i mean that Literally! I am so glad the Day turned 180 Degree's the Right Way up and the Day ended Really well. Indeed, it may be best to wait until after the Restrictions Lift before You do another theme Park! Museums work a Lot better with one Way! Nice Services! I am glad You Enjoyed the Meal! I am sorry Andy got super sleepy because of the Medication. Andy ate the Meat as well? Wow! Well done Andy! :) I hope Andy enjoyed His Sleep. I Hope He has a Lovely Day at School Tommorow. I am glad the Cut down is going well. Well, take care then Guys! Sorry Drayton was a Bust. Bye Now!
Hi Kevin can I ask where you got Andy's chew from please as we've been struggling to find something my son who constantly chews his fingers cheers Daniel
Shame it was a not great experience maybe once his out of school and you can take him places outside term time when it's much quieter, also Drayton Manor has a disability pass you have to take letters from Drs and you take it to guest services my rule is to always head to guest services and enquire about the disability pass Andy needs it to be able to access and enjoy the park as nerotypicals do.
Not best idea maybe when u go out maybe getting him shorts or trousers that he cant remove is that an idea as I can see some fool moaning about it not knowing his problems poor little lad what made him go like that he also reminds me of a friend s son who is the same as him and now at the age his mum cant controlled him when he gets a cob on I had to hold him down 1 ight as he went ape shit n went on a wobbly 1
chessington will be a good park i have autism and they let disabled people skip the ques and i skipped the ques there they got a safari train ride there it a train and u drives u past giraffes and other animals
Don't know how you did it, turning a nightmare into a dream. Is the regression stuff related to the new house? These are meltdowns, not tantrums I think.
It's better to let Andy know a day or two before. Where you are going. And that there will be times when you have to que and wait. Does andy not have the medication before he leaves the house that way he could nap in the car. Have a look on the websites then andy can see what he wants to do before going.that's what I use to do with my nephew. Bit easier hopefully
Do you really think that Kev wouldn’t have tried all of these before or maybe does them, stop trying to tell them how to raise their child, it may have worked with your nephew, but Andy isn’t your nephew...
Kevin are you worried that maybe once Andy turns 17 it will be a criminal offence when he takes off his clothes ie Karen's calling it public indecency? Hope you're all okay c
I meant no disrespect when I asked that, if anything I was looking out for you. It wasn't silly, we all know what todays society are like they'll find any excuse to have a whine and moan... so please, don't take any offence kev as that was not my intention!
