Silvia bhabhi is right here. Thick daal is for Roti, Thin daal is for Rice. Also thick daal will create acidity as well.

For rice we Bengalis prefer patli daal but for puri and roti thicker . But again it depends from person to person.. I am from Kolkata.🙂. Pure Bengali Hindus .

For regular uses watery daal, for special occasions it can be both. You should also try Toor, moong, chana daal aswell. And also do add coriander leaves.

There is one rice available in Maharashtra called ambemohar, which is smaller and bit thick . This rice is fragrant.

try not burning the chilli powder by putting it 5 seconds before putting tadka on dal. you can give longer time to jeera, long, rai etc but chilli powder should remain red and should not be burned. Same thing can be done for some hing like chilli powder on tadka which is most important indegrient of dal and you missed that.

You can boil the dal in a pressure cooker that will save time and taste also. Then transfer the boiled dal in a pot and add tarka. Tasteful dal is ready.

MUST TRY gujrati dal 1- take dal and take 1 tamato cut in 4 let it boil after mix that 2 - then put lal mirch powder turmeric 1 tea spoon coriander cumin 1 tea spoon 6-7 spoon sugar half lemon idli sambhar powder if available garlic ginger and chilli small cut as much small you can MIX IT AND LET IT BOIL TADKA 2 or 3 table spoon oil let it get hot add garlic (cut in small) then 1 or 2 tea spoon red chilli powder add hing little bit then curry patta as soon as garlic gets red put that in the dal and mix it and let it boil for 1-2 min done.

I don't think it is the actual way of preparing 'Musur Dal '...first, the foam comes during boiling has to be thrown out....blender should be used when Dal is half boiled.... Well, in Poland it is ok.. authenticity comes gradually.... Lots of love.. Carry on..

Use less water while boiling any daal. Add salt, a pinch of turmeric and few drops of oil while boiling. Use all the other ingredients in the tadka. Finally set your desired consistency by adding some hot water. In the last add butter / desi ghee and garnish with fresh coriander. Let it rest for altleast 15 mins. For best results use low flame while boiling and soak the daal after washing for atleast 30 mins in warm water.

❤Very nice vlog 👍 (2:32)~ In West Bengal (India) also we have an aromatic type of short rice called the 'Govind Bhog'. You should try that - it's absolutely different from other varieties of rice. You should taste it once, if you have the opportunity - I'm sure you'll all love it...

Dal has to be thick and when you mix thick dal and rice more ghee need to be added to make it less thick. Which makes it real tasty! And making thick dal also mean that you eat more dal than rice!

Dal is rich in protein, so thin dal is good in taste as well as in digestion. Thick dal is made occasionally in most part of India except punjab haryana and Rajasthan. Add on to that thick dal does not digest well, it takes time so not good for everyone’s stomach
