I am stunned... What an incredible origin story for the newest super hero in Seattle! John Schneider had it right - The Seahawks "drafted a grown man today."

I feel like the Seahawks sometimes pick with their hearts and I love that about them. They want to be inspired and want us to be inspired too.

He’s just so perfect for Seattle, he fits the culture to a tee and it’s no wonder Carroll and Schneider picked him. Along with the inspirational story (which only makes you want to succeed even more) he’s also a community man who’s been giving back to his community since he was a young man!! Wow I seriously feel like I’m getting flash back of Kam Chancellor’s watching this right now rn!! He has the potential to be a Seahawks legend if everything goes to plan!🙏🏼

Amazing story. I'm glad that young man got drafted by the Seahawks. They're a defensive focused team. As a pass rusher, he's going to get to eat quarterbacks until his belly is full!!! With the other drafts my hawk's have picked so far ( as I'm texting they just selected Zach Charbonnet from ucla) I'm excited for the future of this team. Witherspoon( reminds me of a more violent Richard Sherman), Smith-Nijgba( the best receiver in the draft), Charbonnet ( Runs just like Marshawn Lynch), and last years selections (that had a year to get better), I'm going to love bringing the noise in support of this team!!

I know Derrick personally from playing him in high school. I remember when he went to auburn he tried to get me to commit there the year after. Truly one of the best souls in the world. No one more deserving than him for the opportunity to play in the NFL!!

Hey Seattle Fans...Auburn fan here..U guys are getting a monster w Derick. He is not the most gifted player. He is a bit stiff sometimes. I'm sure the experts can point out more flaws in his game, but you won't get a guy with more determination and heart and I will take that all day long. Derick Is a the type of player that locker rooms need. The Seattle Seahawks just got better by signing him. I only hate that his AU career was plexxed with multiple coaching debacles. DHall we love you at Auburn and can't wait to watch you work your way into a pro bowler and I have no doubt this will happen. War damn Eagle DHall. Thank you for the memories!

But I wish he’d have been more clear that it is his love of the people of Mississippi and their plight that drove him to donate his efforts to the Jackson water crisis. He mentioned his love for “the state of Mississippi” when it was actually the state of Mississippi (i.e. the state government of Mississippi) that is both morally culpable and probably criminally negligent for the Jackson water crisis. Call it what it is.
