So glad to see someone using their tools as you should to keep pain to a minimum and not twisting, jerking and ripping the hoof off with a clipper/trimmer. Thank you for such a great job!
According to the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine website, they should be trimmed at least twice a year. And according to the LLM Farms website, hoof horn grows at a rate of about 5 mm per month. That suggests to me that it takes years of neglect for an animal to get to this point. The fact that it was all four hoofs backs up that idea. It's not a fluke or an unusual condition with one hoof. It's purely from neglect.
This is inexcusable, what an awful cattle owner!! He uses the animal and then continues to ignore the fact that he should’ve done something about the hooves. He has no business owning cattle if he is not going to care for them it’s his RESPONSIBILITY. Get out of this business and let your toe nails grow the same length as the bull’s hooves then see how it feels, it’s painful!! Hopefully the animal feels better and hopefully it’s hooves are never neglected again!!!!
