Had my bicycle stolen last year around this time, might not have been much to most people but it was a custom fixie I had saved up for months to buy and build up myself, it was my only way of commuting to my studies at the time too, absolutely crushed my soul and unfortunately left a horrible dark stain on 2023 for me.. I spent well over 1000 hours throughout the year scrolling fb marketplace and buy/sell websites looking for my bike despite eventually finding the name of the thief and the police refusing to do anything about it.. Unlike me I hope Michael get's his build back and his year isn't completely tarnished..

I can't offer my help since I don't even live in the US, but I will offer offer my blind hope that the bike _will_ be found and it will be found _soon_ !! The community did this once and I truly believe they can do it again !

Tell your buddy if he gets it back to splice in a cutoff switch with a lock on it into the negative cable of the battery so he can cut power to the electric start by switching it off and locking it in the off position and to mount a battery powered vibration sensor alarm you can control with a remote somewhere hidden on the scooter that he can charge so itll go off like a car alarm if the scooter is moved or started. Cheap DIY theft defense but at least it's something
